Abstract:In this paper, we analyze the status and trends of globalization of services, and explore theoretic issues. Firstly, we describe the status and characteristics of globalization of services, showing that it has been one of important parts and latest characteristics of economic globalization. Secondly, we put forward main factors influencing the globalization of services, emphasize that these factors will be available and promote the process in the long term. Besides, we distinguish the "nominal growth" and "real growth" of services and globalization of services. Thirdly, we discuss the applicability of the classical labor division theory, pointing out that comparative advantage theory and factor endowment theory are applicable to the services division globally. Further more, we bring out the viewpoint of reverting goods and services to combination of factors to extend the application of the theory. We illuminate four traits of globalization of services, which are the importance of human capital, labor virtual flowing across countries, knowledge-intense producer services and non-economic influence. The conclusion is that globalization of services benefits the world economic growth and solving global problems, China should utilize this chance to promote its development, and related research should be reinforced and deepened.

Abstract:Manufacturing sectors of China develops faster these years, which attracts the world's eyes. However, producer-service plays a significant role in growth of manufacturing. This research examines the role of producer-service, as well as the relationship between producer-service and manufacturing. And then an empirical study with data of the year 2000 to 2007 from statistical yearbook of Zhejiang province proves the interactive relationship of producer service and manufacturing industry in China. Finally, the study gives some practical guidelines to improve the growth mode of producer service to enhance the upgrading of manufacturing industry.

Abstract:Using Share-Shift method,this paper explores the growth variation of both aggregate and structure of service industry among 15 cities in Yangtze River Delta.And the results show that,the service industry in Yangtze River Delta is in the process of spatial agglomeration and Shanghai City is the core area in the region,which dwarfs the growth rates of other cities.We also find that,consumer service sector can be defined as the mature sector in view of its large scale but relative low growth rate,and producer service sector can be termed as the growing sector due to its rapid growth rate and ever-increasing scale,while public service and semi-public service sectors being called as declining sector for their rather low growth rates.

Abstract:With the development of the globalization of world economy and the arrival of New-economy,the service sector is gradually taking up a dominating position in the world economy.The so-called ″Service Economy″ has come forth.The paper conceives a new ″Diamond Model″ to point out the essentiality of Service Economy to Competitive Advantage of a nation.The Service Economy has been the primary source of the Competitive Advantage of Nations.The factors in ″Diamond Model″ of Competitive Advantage of Nations theory brought forward by Michael Porter have been renewed and supplemented by Service Economy.Factor conditions rooted in the service sector have been taking up a dominant status with the process that the connotations of traditional factor conditions,as labor force,capital,land,and entrepreneur ability are renovated by enterprise and society service,and the new factor conditions,as knowledge and networking are more and more important.Demand conditions promoting enlargement and upgrading of a country's economy,have been more satisfied by tertiary industry than by primary industry and second industry.With the development of world economy and community the dominating demands of human society are stepping up in the order of physiological demand,security demand,public relations demand,respect demand and self-realization demand in the pyramid of Demand Level theory proposed by Maslow.Nowadays,the basic physiological demand satisfied by first and second industries has been essential human rights and the lowest requirement social security.The high-level demands,the objectives modern people pursuing,can only be satisfied by intercommunion,system construction and development of service economy.Related and supporting industries which make up a country's industrial system with the functions of production,marketing,cooperation and innovation,have been taken up by the service industries with the progress of network technology,information technology and biological technology.R&D service,modern distribution service and marketing service have been the most important supporting industries.Enterprises pay more attention to the service content in their strategy,structure and rivalry.Inner enterprises services include production management,human resources management,and financial control,etc.,and external enterprises services include market development,enterprise image designs,products value-added services,and finance services,etc.The service factors have already been reintegrated into the enterprise's value chain.

The statistical data of Chinese economy since the reformation approve that service trade raise the output per capita through increasing capital per capita and accelerating the institution reformation. But the role of service import and export play in economic growth shows no balance, and as a whole, the service trade is inferior to the cargo trade. The function's deviation of the human capital and the technology advancement discovered in the empirical analysis provide us the theory basis for consummating Chinese service trade development mechanism.

Abstract:On the basis of literature review and interviews with front-line managers from Chinese service enterprises,this article summarizes the main factors determining firm growth of the Chinese service sector.It builds measurement indicators for these factors and designs questionnaire.This article divides the corporate life-cycle into four phases which are start-up phase,rapid-growth phase,relatively stable phase and second start-up phase,and researches on firm growth of enterprises at each phase.It analyses the validity and reliability of the collected data of questionnaire through SPSS statistical software,gains key factors affecting firm growth of service enterprises,and analyses the relative importance of these factors at each phase of corporate life-cycle.

Abstract:Services tend to concentrate heavily in cities,especially large cities,and therefore become the industrial base for city transition.This paper shows that the phenomenon of "cost disease" looms large recently in Shanghai,while the service development potential is optimistic.So the most important thing is how to balance services demand and services supply,so as to effectively promote the service sectors development and urban transition.Shanghai's experience has some implications to other cities and regions in China.

Abstract:Recently in western developed countries,the knowledge-intensive service industry,which is characterized by information service and expertise support,has developed rapidly and has become one of the most important parts of the modern service industry.At the same time,since China has entered WTO,China's economy will be more and more integrated and merged with the international economy,and the course of China's urbanization will accelerate,and China's hi -tech industry will absorb more resources and elements.Moreover,the knowledge-service industry,urbanization and the hi-tech industry development promote and influence on e another.In the paper,the authors try to probe into the present situation and existing problems of the development of China's knowledge-service industry on the basis of analyzing the relationships among knowledge-service industry,urbanization and hi-tech industry,and finally they make some relevant suggestions.

Abstract:With the measuring method of the development rules in the service industry described in the latest literature,This paper measures the long-term changing weights and periodic characteristics in China's service sector based on the panel data on regions from 1952 to 2010.The result shows that the changing share of the service sector in China go against servicization trend of the world economy as a whole from the national macro-level.However,The relationship between the proportion of China's service industries and per capita GDP is in accordance with the universal law o"f the share of service industry will continue to rise with the economic development"at regional level.The so-called paradox in China on service economy does not exist at the regional level.The analysis on periodic characteristics of service sector and regional disparity show that most regions of China are still in the first development phase which gives priority to traditional service industry,and only a few regions access into the second development phase which dominated by modern service industry.Finally,this paper analyzes and empirically tests the cause of development rules in China's service industries.

Abstract:In the five years when the eleventh five-year State economic plan is being carried, China's service industry should and possibly can develop into the stage of rapid growth and upgrading its position in the national economy. The service industry should grow to be one of the main industries that provide for employment, one of the prime mover industries with optimized structures, and one of the pillars supporting the whole economic growth. In the striking and healthy development of China's economy, a more important role is to played by a commercialized, industrialized, socialized, further internationalized service industry, by a market setup that functions more in the resource allocation, and by the further improvement of the public service system.

Abstract:The advanced stage of industrial structure transformation is characterized by modern service sector domination in the economy. Industrialization promotes urbanization which results in the concentration of production factors in urban areas. The increase of city numbers and scale, and the increasing proportion of non-farming population greatly stimulate service demand. Household income growth and employment structure change foster service development. This paper empirically researches China service sector since the reform and opening policy and examines service development from economic development and structural transformation perspectives with multivariate econometric models.

Abstract:Using Share-Shift method,this paper explores the growth variation in both aggregate and structure of service industries among six city groups of different hierarchy including 284 cities at city-level in China.And the results show that,the growth rate of service industry correlates with city hierarchy,due to service sectors based on market force showing a higher growth rate among higher hierarchy city groups in spite of service sectors having a higher growth rate among lower hierarchy city groups.Specifically,producer service sectors in metropolitan cities at national level show the fastest growth,at the same time,producer and consumer service sectors in metropolitan cities at regional level demonstrate quite fast growth.Meanwhile,all service sectors in cities at provincial level keep a growth close to that of national average,and service industries in cities at city level show a slower growth rate despite semi-public and public service sectors have a comparatively higher growth rate.This paper helps to expound the elementary law of development of service sectors among different hierarchical cities in China.

Abstract:As the dominant industry in the post-industrial society,the agglomeration of service industry has become a new hot spot in the research fields of economic geography,industrial economics and urban economics.At present,research mainly focuses on four aspects:comparison with manufacturing agglomeration;space distribution of agglomeration,including overall space design and distribution;causes of agglomeration,such as the collective study process,social factors,co-agglomeration and so on,and effect of agglomeration.These studies have provided a frame of reference for the coordinated development of the secondary and tertiary sectors through adjustment of space structure and development of service industry agglomeration.On the other hand,there is an urgent need to study issues like how to construct an analytical framework for service industry agglomeration based on new economic geography theory,how to measure the degree of agglomeration,and how to advance the interactive development of service agglomeration and regional economies.

Abstract:Importance should be attached to the spatial distribution of service industry in the process of its structure evolution. This paper, based on the detail statistical material and using location quotient and spatial Gini coefficient, makes a deep research on the structure and spatial distribution of different service industries of the Yangtze River Delta with different districts from the angle of output value, unit and employment. Such findings can be found that different kinds of service industry do not make progress at the same level or exist in the well-distributed space. The development of service industry of the Yangtze River Delta fully shows the close relations between structure evolution and spatial distribution. Now the structure and spatial distribution of service industry with the growth pole of Shanghai and the following provincial capitals and economic centers has enjoyed their existence. It is of significant importance for itself and the overall economy to push the scientific and reasonable distribution of the service industry through self-motivation.
