Abstract:Liu and Nebesky have independently provided different necessary and sufficient conditions for the upper embeddability of graphs. This paper mainly investigates the upper embeddability of bipartite graphs. We prove the following result: (1) LetG=(X, Y; E) and G~3=(V(G~3), E(G~3)), where V(G~3)=V(G),E(G~3)=E(G)∪J{e=xy|d_G(x,y)=3,x∈X,y∈Y}, then G~3 is up-embeddable; (2)Let G=(X, Y; E),|X|=|Y|=n(n≥3), for every pair of x∈X, y∈Y with d_G(x, y)=3, such that d(x)+d(y)≥n+1, then G is up-embeddable.

Abstract:Since the introductory investigation of maximum genus by Nordhaus,Stewart and White[1],the up-embeddability fo graphs has been paid great attention so far.The maximum genus r_M(G) of a connected graph G is maximum integer k with the property that exists a celluar embedding of G on the orientable surface S_k of genus k.Since any celluar embedding must have at least one face,the Eluer polyhedral equation implies an upper bound on the maximum genus the number β(G) is known as the Betti number of the connected graph G.Liu[2],Xuong[3] and Nebesky[4] have independently provided different necessary and sufficient conditions on the upper embeddability of graphs.This paper mainly prove the following result:let G be a simple graph,then G~3 is up-embedable.Especially,if k≥4,then G~k are up-embedable as well.

Abstract:The weak minor G of a graph G is the graph obtained from G by a sequence of edge-contraction operations on G. A weak-minor-closed family of upper embeddable graphs is a set G of upper embeddable graphs that for each graph G in G, every weak minor of G is also in G. Up to now, there are few results providing the necessary and sufficient conditions for characterizing upper embeddability of graphs. In this paper, we studied the relation between the vertex splitting operation and the upper embeddability of graphs; provided not only a necessary and sufficient condition for characterizing upper embeddability of graphs, but also a way to construct weak-minor-closed family of upper embeddable graphs from the bouquet of circles; extended a result in J: Graph Theory obtained by L. Nebesky. In addition, the algorithm complex of determining the upper embeddability of a graph can be reduced much by the results obtained in this paper.

Abstract:This paper investigates the maximum genus and upper embeddability of connected 4-regular graphs. We obtain lower bounds on the maximum genus of connected 4-regular simple graphs and connected 4-regular graphs without loops in terms of the Betti number. The definition of the Betti number is referred to [Cross and Tucker, Topological Graph Theory, New York, 1987]. Furthermore, we give examples that show that these lower bounds are tight.

Abstract:Let F_1 and F_2 be two disjoint graphs. The union F_1∪ F_2 is a graph with vertex set V(F_1)∪ V(F_2) and edge set E(F_1)∪ E(F_2) , and the join F_1+F_2 is a graph with vertex set V(F_1)∪ V(F_2) and edge set E(F_1)∪ E(F_2)∪{xy | x∈ V(F_1) and y∈ V(F_2)} . In this paper, we present a characterization to (P_5, K_1∪ K_3) -free graphs, prove that χ (G)≤ 2ω (G)-1 if G is (P_5, K_1∪ K_3) -free. Based on this result, we further prove that χ (G)≤ max {2ω (G),15} if G is a (P_5,K_1+(K_1∪ K_3)) -free graph. We also construct a (P_5, K_1+( K_1∪ K_3)) -free graph G with χ (G)=2ω (G) .

Abstract:This article foucuses on $(P_3\cup P_2,K_4)$-free graph. In this paper, we prove that if G is $(P_3\cup P_2,K_4)$-free, then $\chi(G)\le 7$. We then use our result to obtain the upper bound of order and chromatic number of $(4K_1,\overline{P_3\cup P_2},K_{\omega})$-free graph .

Abstract:For two vertex disjoint graphs $H$ and $F$, we use $H\cup F$ to denote the graph with vertex set $V(H)\cup V(F)$ and edge set $E(H)\cup E(F)$, and use $H+F$ to denote the graph with vertex set $V(H)\cup V(F)$ and edge set $E(H)\cup E(F)\cup\{xy\;|\; x\in V(H), y\in V(F)$$\}$. A $W_4$ is the graph $K_1+C_4$. In this paper, we prove that $\chi(G)\le 2\omega(G)$ if $G$ is a ($P_3\cup P_2, W_4$)-free graph. This bound is tight when $\omega =2$ and $3$, and improves the main result of Wang and Zhang. Also, this bound partially generalizes some results of Prashant {\em et al.}.

Abstract:Let G be a nonabelian group and associate a noncommuting graph▽(G) with G as follows:The vertex set of▽(G) is G\Z(G) with two vertices x and y joined by an edge whenever the commutator of x and y is not the identity.In 2006,Abdollahi A.,Akbari S.and Maimani H. R.put forward a conjecture called AAM's Conjecture as follows:If M is a finite nonabelian simple group and G is a group such that▽(G)≌▽(M),then G≌M.Even though this conjecture is known to hold for all simple groups with nonconnected prime graphs and the alternating group A_(10), it is still unknown for all simple groups with connected prime graphs except A_(10).It is proved that the conjecture is also true for the projective special linear simple group L_4(4).
On the Maximum $F_5$-free Subhypergraphs of a Random Hypergraph

Abstract:Denote by $F_5$ the $3$-uniform hypergraph on vertex set $\{1,2,3,4,5\}$ with hyperedges $\{123,124,345\}$. Balogh, Butterfield, Hu, and Lenz proved that if $p > K \log n / n$ for some large constant $K$, then every maximum $F_5$-free subhypergraph of $G^3(n,p)$ is tripartite with high probability, and showed that if $p_0 = 0.1\sqrt{\log n} / n$, then with high probability there exists a maximum $F_5$-free subhypergraph of $G^3(n,p_0)$ that is not tripartite. In this paper, we sharpen the upper bound to be best possible up to a constant factor. We prove that if $p > C \sqrt{\log n} / n $ for some large constant $C$, then every maximum $F_5$-free subhypergraph of $G^3(n, p)$ is tripartite with high probability.

Abstract:Given two graphs H 1 and H 2 , a graph G is ( H 1 , H 2 ) ‐free if it contains no induced subgraph isomorphic to H 1 or H 2 . Let P t and C s be the path on t vertices and the cycle on s vertices, respectively. In this paper we show that for any ( P 6 , C 4 ) ‐free graph G it holds that χ ( G ) ≤ ( 3 / 2 ) ω ( G ) , where χ ( G ) and ω ( G ) are the chromatic number and clique number of G , respectively. Our bound is attained by several graphs, for instance, the 5‐cycle, the Petersen graph, the Petersen graph with an additional universal vertex, and all 4 ‐critical ( P 6 , C 4 ) ‐free graphs other than K 4 (see Hell and Huang [Discrete Appl. Math. 216 (2017), pp. 211–232]). The new result unifies previously known results on the existence of linear χ ‐binding functions for several graph classes. Our proof is based on a novel structure theorem on ( P 6 , C 4 ) ‐free graphs that do not contain clique cutsets. Using this structure theorem we also design a polynomial time 3 ∕ 2 ‐approximation algorithm for coloring ( P 6 , C 4 ) ‐free graphs. Our algorithm computes a coloring with ( 3 / 2 ) ω ( G ) colors for any ( P 6 , C 4 ) ‐free graph G in O ( n 2 m ) time.

Abstract:Let G be a 2-connected claw-free graph. We show that if G is N-1,N-1,N-4-free or N-1,N-2,N-2-free or Z(5)-free or P-8-free, respectively, then G has a spanning Eulerian subgraph (i.e. a spanning connected even subgraph) or its closure is the line graph of a graph in a family of well-defined graphs, if the minimum degree delta(G) >= 3 and G is N-2,N-2,N-5-free or Z(9)-free, respectively, then G has a spanning Eulerian subgraph or its closure is the line graph of a graph in a family of well-defined graphs. Here Z(i) (N-i,N-j,N-k) denotes the graph obtained attaching a path of length i >= 1 (three vertex-disjoint paths of lengths i, j, k >= 1, respectively) to a triangle. Combining our results with a result in [Xiong (2014)], we prove that all 2-connected hourglass-free claw-free graphs G with one of the same forbidden subgraphs above (or additionally delta(G) >= 3) are hamiltonian with the same excluded families of graphs. Abstract:In this paper, we show that every (2P_2,K_4)-free graph is 4-colorable. The bound is attained by the five-wheel and the complement of the seven-cycle. This answers an open question by Wagon in the 1980s. Our result can also be viewed as a result in the study of the Vizing bound for graph classes. A major open problem in the study of computational complexity of graph coloring is whether coloring can be solved in polynomial time for (4P_1,C_4)-free graphs. Lozin and Malyshev conjecture that the answer is yes. As an application of our main result, we provide the first positive evidence to the conjecture by giving a 2-approximation algorithm for coloring (4P_1,C_4)-free graphs.
