Abstract:A solid professional knowledge and a strict scientific attitude are the basic guarantee for scientific research.Nowadays,many problems appear in research papers of geotechnical engineering,which affect the paper quality and lead to unreliable results.This phenomenon has great influence.It not only wasted research resources but also led up to a false,impetuous research culture.The author analyzed widespread problems from the aspects of theoretical research,experimental research and numerical analysis,and verified them by examples,which provided full understanding about these problems to students and supervisors.Furthermore,supervisors need to be stricter in instructions to improve the quality of the graduate papers.
Sustainable Landfill Technologies For Municipal Solid Wastes In China

Abstract:About 90% of municipal solid wastes (153 million tons in 2007) are filled in landfills, which have great potential stability and pollution problems, in China. Sustainable technologies are attended to solve these problems and improve the landfill performance. These technologies can reduce landfill area through centralization and large-scale landfilling. High-performance collection and control measures of leachate and landfill gas are developed to reduce landfill pollution loading. The biodegradation process of solid waste is accelerated to increase landfill capacity. The concept of. Systems engineering. is implemented in design, operation and management of landfills to achieve a higher performance. This paper presents primary research works of mainland China in the sustainable landfill technologies, including solid-liquid-gas interaction, temporal and special variation of waste engineering properties, and control of leachate, gas, stability and pollution. Finally, aspects worthy of further research are addressed.

Abstract:Taking the west city Fengtan road grouting in Hangzhou as the engineering background,through the field grouting process tracking, construction phase road surface uplift and road surface deflection monitoring,gained the grouting control parameters,the road surface uplift con-trol value in grouting implementation stage,and analyzed the road surface deflection test results,showed the grouting effectiveness.

Abstract:The measures for optimizing the land utilization and structure were put forward according to the analysis of the relation between the land utilization and environmental construction in Shangqiu city.The eco-environment bearing capacity of land resources was analyzed by using the ecological environment vulnerability assessment.The result showed that land environment of Shangqiu city was in a weak balanceable phases,the ability of maintaining system homeostasis was weak and anti-jamming ability was also weak.

Abstract:In recent years, with increasing urban population, the conditions of communications and accommodations become more and more crowded. In some medium- sized or huge cities in our country, the number of underground engineering projects, such as communication tunnels,subways and underground markets increases year after year. Because of the pecularities of urban engineering circumstance and the characters of underground engineering projects, a series of environmental geotechnical problems, such as instability of foundation pit, ground subsidence,karst collapse, instability of cave and water irruption become more conspicuous and frequent. They seriously affect not only the construction of underground engineering projects and safety of buildings around, but also cause huge economic loss to the whole country. The problems have attract attention of experts in the geotechnical area and become the key study subject in the area. In combination with the practical constructions in Nanjing, the authors discuss the characters and mechanism of environmental geotechnical problems of urban underground engineering. At the same time, some suggestions and methods for solving the environmental geotechnical problems are given in the paper.

Abstract:The evaluation, control and remediation of soil and groundwater contamination has became a great concern in the environmental protection in China. To alleviated this situation, the utilization of geotechnical engineering provides a most economical and feasible solution in China, and has shown great prospectus for researchers and engineers in the field. In this paper, the recent advances in the research and engineering practices of geoenvironmental engineering are reviewed. Some main issues are discussed including sustainable land filling of municipal solid wastes, engineering property, disposal and reuse of abandoned soils, assessment and control of soil and groundwater contamination, and application of geosynthetics in geoenvironmental engineering.

Abstract:Zhenjiang City is one of the areas greatly suffered geological hazards in Jiangsu Province.Landslides,rockfall and ground subsidence are main types of geological hazards in Zhenjiang City,which cause considerable loss of lives and properties and have affected local economic and social development. According to the analysis of main types and distribution features of geological hazards,the cause and mechanism of the geological hazards are discussed in this paper.The prevent principles and corresponding countermeasures for geological hazards are put forward in order to reduce the loss of geological hazards.

Abstract:At present,the research on environmental evaluation for land in China is seldom reported.Based on the foreign experience about environmental evaluation of land,the authors took the city of Hangzhou as an example,and then applied the land environmental evaluation in land planning,and finally gave some suggestions on land use in China.In this paper,the authors chose biodiversity,content of underground water,content of soil organic matter,topography,atmosphere environment quality as evaluation factors.According to the weighting coefficients of evaluation factors in environmental evaluation,the environment sensitive area of Hangzhou was divided into three parts based on GIS technique.Finally,the selection of indices in land environmental evaluation,policy-making,ex ante appraisal and ecological recovery,etc.,for Hangzhou city were suggested.

Abstract:Since the reform and opening up in the last century, many cities in China have entered the rapid stage of development, at the same time, the problem of urban water environment pollution has become increasingly prominent. Good water environment is the basic guarantee of the healthy and harmonious development of the city, therefore, people begin to invest a lot of energy on how to control the polluted water of the city reasonably and efficiently. In this paper, the present situation of water environment in most cities of our country is summarized, and the main technical measures and their advantages and disadvantages of urban polluted water treatment in the past are briefly analysed. And it further expounds on how to integrate landscape ecological construction technology into the treatment of urban polluted water in details in order to provide reference for the future urban water environment management.

Abstract:As a research theory and analysis method of environmental and geotechnical engineering as well as geological disaster, preferred plane analysis can be used to offer scientific gist for the stability analysis, design and operation of underground engineering. The theory of preferred plane is used in many important aspects including water conservancy like the Three Gorges Project, Heishan Gorge and Daliushu, engineering of traffic main stem like Yunlianshan tunnel of railroad and Laoshan tunnel of expressway, nuclear power station and storage power station in south Jiangsu and Nanjing subway. Through understandings for site selection , safety evaluations, design and construction, the authors analyzed the research aims i.e. stability and water bursting, main problems i.e. search of preferred plane or layer, timbering design method, harmony of support and waterproof design.

Abstract:Environmental problems in waste management and soil contamination are serious in China. The Chinese government has paid great attention to these problems, and environmental geotechnics has become a new and promising direction for both research and industry. The opportunities and challenges of environmental geotechnics in China are presented from two aspects, that is, solid waste management and soil contamination control, remediation. New methods and technologies are required for the design and management of Chinese sanitary landfills, which contain high food waste content municipal solid wastes and commonly have high leachate mounds. The market of contaminated site remediation is developing rapidly in China as a result of growing reuse of brownfields left by relocation of old and polluting industries. The valuable experience and mature technologies of the developed countries in contaminated land remediation are helpful to promote technological advancement in China.

Abstract:A view of engineering geology is made in the paper. There are three stages of its development in past a half century and have two Engineering Geological centers (Beijing, Chengdu) and some academic engineering geological research groups (Nanjing etc.) were set up in China. The main achievements in engineering geology in the past 50 years, can be expressed in the following eight aspects:(1) Theory of rockmass structure engineering geomechanics;(2) Study on interaction between engineering activities geologic environment;(3) Stability evaluation of the Three-Gorges Project on Yangtze River;(4) Two types of environmental problems two suspended rivers, and theory of preferred plane;(5) Geo engineering geologic hazards control;(6) Nonlinear engineering geology;(7) Epigenetic time dependent structure;(8) Urban geo technology. Basic theory of engineering geologywas also in advance in the past over 50 years . Three basic theories: (1)Genetic Theory of rock-soil properties; (2)Structural theory of rock-soil stability and (3)The harmony between human the nature. Trend Prospect of Engineering Geology:The world's population growth, industrialization and urbanization have led to focus the environmental civilization and environmental problems. The latter would threatne the sustainable social-economic sustainable development and even the existence of human being.Engineering geology market is very large for water resource,ecological environment and regional stability underground works in west China and for stability evaluation of large cities, problem of suspended river, and water resource water environment in east China. The development trend, 4 theoretical problems, and key technical problems are proposed and preliminarily analyzed in this paper. They are mainly the environment and geological hazards, the theoretical topic of engineering geology, the digitalization integration problems, and the Geo-engineering technical design treatment of the problems.

Abstract:The problems caused by the urban hard surface cover, from the accumulation of water to the hot island, present the negative effects it exerts on the urban environment and ecosystem. Putting emphasis on the essential matters, the study initiates a number of approaches and solutions, notably maintaining natural state of land, encouraging new methods of construction and abandoning the stereotypes. Further, the study puts forward its conclusion that urban environment should be constructed complying with the law of nature, efficiently utilizing energy sources and natural resources, taking use of the law of substance circle and the nature itself, all of which are discussed in reference to the exigency for solving these kinds of problems.
