Abstract:In this paper, we study the sharp constants of quantitative Hardy and Rellich inequalities on nonreversible Finsler manifolds equipped with arbitrary measures. In particular, these inequalities can be globally refined by adding remainder terms like the Brezis–Vázquez improvement, if Finsler manifolds are of strictly negative flag curvature, vanishing S-curvature and finite uniformity constant. Furthermore, these results remain valid when Finsler metrics are reversible.

Abstract:In the present paper, we prove a rigidity theorem for complete submanifolds with parallel Gaussian mean curvature vector in the Euclidean space $${\mathbb {R}}^{n+p}$$ under an integral curvature pinching condition, which is a unified generalization of some rigidity results for self-shrinkers and the $$\lambda $$-hypersurfaces in Euclidean spaces.

Abstract:By using the volume form induced from the projective sphere bundle of the Fiusler manifold,the Finsler geometry of submanifolds is studied.The first variation formula of the volume functional for Fiusler submanifolds is derived.The second fundamental form and the mean curvature form for Finsler submanifolds are defined,which coincide with the usual notions for the Riemannian case.By deriving the divergence formula on the fiber of the projective sphere bundle,a simple equivalence expression of the mean curvature form is given.Some interesting results for Finsler submanifolds in the Minkowski space are established.

Abstract:Let Mn(n ≥ 4) be an oriented compact submanifold with parallel mean curvature in an (n + p)-dimensional complete simply connected Riemannian manifold Nn+p. Then there exists a constant δ(n, p) 2 (0, 1) such that if the sectional curvature of N satisfies $${\overline K _N} \in \;\,\left[ {\delta \left( {n,p} \right),\;1} \right]$$, and if M has a lower bound for Ricci curvature and an upper bound for scalar curvature, then N is isometric to Sn+p. Moreover, M is either a totally umbilic sphere $${S^n}({1 \over {\sqrt {1 + {H^2}} }})$$, a Clifford hypersurface $${S^m}({1 \over {\sqrt {2(1 + {H^2})} }})\; \times \;{S^m}({1 \over {\sqrt {2(1 + {H^2})} }})$$ in the totally umbilic sphere $${S^{n+1}}({1 \over {\sqrt {1 + {H^2}} }})$$ with n = 2m, or $${\mathbb{C}{\rm{P}}^2}\left( {{4 \over 3}\left( {1 + {H^2}} \right)} \right)$$ in $${S^7}({1 \over {\sqrt {1 + {H^2}} }})$$. Abstract:In this paper, we establish new normal scalar curvature inequalities on a class of austere submanifolds by proving sharper DDVV-type inequalities on associated austere subspaces. We also provide some examples of austere submanifolds in this class and point out one of them achieves the equality in our normal scalar curvature inequality everywhere. As a byproduct, we obtain a Simons-type gap theorem for closed austere submanifolds in unit spheres which belong to that class.

Abstract: Let $M$ be an $m (\ge2)$-dimensional closed orientable submanifold in an $n$-dimensional complete simply-connected Riemannian manifold $N$, where the sectional curvature of $N$ is bounded above by $\delta$. When $\delta<0$, inspired by Niu-Xu (arXiv:2106.01912), we give new upper bounds for the first nonzero eigenvalues of the $p$-Laplacian and the $L_T$ operator, respectively. These generalize Niu-Xu's work for the Laplacian (arXiv:2106.01912) and improve the estimates due to Chen (Nonlinear Anal.,196, 111833, 2020) for the $p$-Laplacian and Grosjean (Hokkaido Math. J., 33(2) , 319-339, 2004) for the $L_T$ operator, respectively. We also obtain several Reilly-type inequalities for the weighted manifolds and some boundary value problems.
A sharp scalar curvature inequality for submanifolds

Abstract:Let $M^n, n\geq 3,$ be a complete Riemannian manifold of constant scalar curvature $R$ and $f: M^n\rightarrow M^{n+k}(c)$ be an isometric immersion into a space form with flat normal bundle. Assume that $f$ admits a principal normal vector field which has multiplicity $n-1$ at each point of $M^n.$ Our first result is global and states that (i) $R\geq 0$ if $c=0;$\ (ii) $ R> (n-1)(n-2)c$ if $c> 0;$ and (iii) $R\geq n(n-1)c$ if $c< 0.$ These inequalities are optimal. Our second result states that if we further assume that the mean curvature field of $f$ is parallel, then the sectional curvature of $M^n$ is bounded below by $c.$ As a consequence, we classify submanifolds which satisfy the latter condition.

Abstract:Abstract Using Oprea’s optimization methods on submanifolds, we give another proof of the inequalities relating the normalized δ-Casoraticurvature δ^$\hat \delta $c(n−1) for submanifolds in real space forms. Also, inequalities relating the normalized δ-Casorati curvature δC(n − 1) for submanifolds in real space forms are obtained. Besides, we characterize a kind of Casorati ideal hypersurface of Euclidean 4-space. We also show that this kind of Casorati ideal hypersurface is rigid.

Abstract:The geometry of submanifolds in Kähler manifolds is an important research topic. In the present paper, we study submanifolds in complex space forms admitting a semi-symmetric non-metric connection. We prove the Chen–Ricci inequality, Chen basic inequality, and a generalized Euler inequality for such submanifolds. These inequalities provide estimations of the mean curvature (the main extrinsic invariants) in terms of intrinsic invariants: Ricci curvature, the Chen invariant, and scalar curvature. In the proofs, we use the sectional curvature of a semi-symmetric, non-metric connection recently defined by A. Mihai and the first author, as well as its properties.

Geometric inequalities for CR-submanifolds

Abstract:We study two kinds of curvature invariants of Riemannian manifold equip\-ped with a complex distribution $D$ (for example, a CR-submanifold of an almost Hermitian manifold) related to sets of pairwise orthogonal subspaces of the distribution. One kind of invariant is based on the mutual curvature of the subspaces and another is similar to Chen's $\delta$-invariants. We compare the mutual curvature invariants with Chen-type invariants and prove geometric inequalities with intermediate mean curvature squared for CR-submanifolds in almost Hermitian spaces. In the case of a set of complex planes, we introduce and study curvature invariants based on the concept of holomorphic bisectional curvature. As applications, we give consequences of the absence of some $D$-minimal CR-submanifolds in almost Hermitian manifolds.

Abstract:We study curvature invariants of a sub-Riemannian manifold (i.e., a manifold with a Riemannian metric on a non-holonomic distribution) related to mutual curvature of several pairwise orthogonal subspaces of the distribution, and prove geometrical inequalities for a sub-Riemannian submanifold. As applications, inequalities are proved for submanifolds with mutually orthogonal distributions that include scalar and mutual curvature. For compact submanifolds, inequalities are obtained that are supported by known integral formulas for almost-product manifolds.

Abstract:In this paper, we will first derive a DDVV-type optimal inequality for real skew-symmetric matrices, then we apply it to establish a Simons-type integral inequality for Riemannian submersions with totally geodesic fibres and Yang–Mills horizontal distributions. In this way, we show phenomenons of duality between submanifold geometry and Riemannian submersion, particularly between second fundamental form of a submanifold and integrability tensor of a Riemannian submersion.
Failure of curvature-dimension conditions on sub-Riemannian manifolds via tangent isometries

Abstract:We prove that, on any sub-Riemannian manifold endowed with a positive smooth measure, the Bakry-Émery inequality for the corresponding sub-Laplacian implies the existence of enough Killing vector fields on the tangent cone to force the latter to be Euclidean at each point, yielding the failure of the curvature-dimension condition in full generality. Our approach does not apply to non-strictly-positive measures. In fact, we prove that the weighted Grushin plane does not satisfy any curvature-dimension condition, but, nevertheless, does admit an a.e. pointwise version of the Bakry-Émery inequality. As recently observed by Pan and Montgomery, one half of the weighted Grushin plane satisfies the RCD(0,N) condition, yielding a counterexample to gluing theorems in the RCD setting.
