Abstract:This paper presents the experiments using active noise control (ANC) technique to attenuate the cabin noise level of a test aircraft on the ground. In the experiments, the cabin noise is set by an exciter to structure-borne noise and by a loudspeaker to air-borne noise. An adaptive control system, which has sixteen input and eight output channels, is developed and used. The experimental results show that the cabin noise can be efficiently attenuated in the controlled area. The conclusion of the study is useful for ANC technique to be applied in practical aircraft.

Abstract:This paper presents the analogized methods and the active control experiments of the cabin noise for a propeller airplane.In a Y7 test airplane,the cabin noise is analogized by an exciter to structure-borne noise and by a loudspeaker to air-borne noise.A multi-channel adaptive control system is developed and used to attenuate the analogized noise field and satisfied results are obtained in the controlled area.

Abstract:Active noise control, as applied to engineering projects, began around 1990. We designed a multi channel active noise control (ANC) system for reducing the noise in front cabin in Chinese Y 7 propeller driven aircraft. In ANC applications, in order to reduce effectively the noise level in a large space, we have to match at any time the generated secondary sound field with the original primary sound field, so that a percentage of the entire primary noise field is effectively cancelled out by the entire secondary noise field. Via analyzing ANC time sequences, we developed a multi channel adaptive control system that can simultaneously detect multiple error inputs and produce multiple canceling outputs. Our system consists of PC as main controller, TMS320-C30 DSP chip as slave processor, 16 A/D input channels and 8 D/A output channels. Applying our system to Chinese Y 7 aircraft appears to be successful; test results show that noise level of Y 7′s blade pass frequency (BPF) and its secondary harmonic frequency (2BPF) are attenuated by 13.4 dB and 5.5 dB respectively. Work remains to be done before our system becomes a part of Y 7 aircraft in actual flights.

Abstract:Studied on the experiments which use active noise control technology to control UAV( unmanned aerial vehicle) propeller noise,a multi-channel adaptive active noise control system which has four inputs and two outputs is designed from measurement and analysis of the engine propeller noise of a certain type domestic UAV. Experiments on 100 Hz single-frequency noise,actual fan noise and actual UAV propeller were carried out. The experiment results shown that the system can achieve a good noise control effect.

Abstract:Some experimental research work has been done on the passive noise control of the fighter cockpit, because of the larger noise generating under some circumstance. As to some fighter cockpit model in the research, using Mi-croperforated Panel Absorber (MPA) structure, a passive noise control system is realized. And using Cada-X structure dynamics analysis system, a testing system to test vibration and noise controlling performance is established. It is applied to testing the controlling performance of the active or passive vibration and noise control system. At the same time, the theoretical result of the absorber coefficient was compared with the testing result of the microperforated panel absorber structure. The experimental result of the control performance of the passive noise control system, shows that the control effect was notable. All these proved the validity and feasibility of the method to the reducing of noise in the fighter cockpit.

Abstract:The disturbances of an aircraft while flying make the cockpit structure vibrate, which leads to radiation noises to the pilot. To reduce them, a control method employing piezo electric element using smart material concept is explored, in which the structural noises are reduced through controlling the vibration of the cabin structures. A cabin model is fabricated. By analysis of the model,the optimal location of the functional elements on the model are determined and experimerts are carried out for structural noise suppression using a computer and a data acquisition card as the controller.The results show good reduction of the model' s vibrations as well as noises when it is excited by both single frequency sin and band limited random noise signals.

Abstract:To reduce helicopter cabin noise, an active noise control methodology is investigated. An enclosure space (720 mm×340 mm×340 mm) is used to simulate the helicopter cabin. An adaptive FIR filter is adopted as a controller in the internal model control process and an IIR filter is used to simulate the error channel. So an active noise cancellation (ANC) system for helicopter cabin based on the adaptive internal model control technique, is developed in laboratory. Experimental results show that good noise attenuation is achieved for either narrow band noise or broadband noise. It is found that the control system is effective in cabin noise reduction. As controller weights are updated online, the control system is more effective, robust and stable.

Abstract:The usual adaptive filter can not be directly used in an active noise control system because there is an acoustic channel between the loudspeaker and the error microphone, and this acoustic channel will enable the system unstable. Based on the phase characteristic of the acoustic channel, we propose a method such that the transmission characteristic of the acoustic channel can be identified experimently. In room test, the errors of phase factor of a single channel are studied. The method is further applied to the active noise control in the cabin of an aircraft, and the test results are given.

Abstract:Active noise control (ANC) technology has been applied to reduce low frequency noise in vehicle cabins. Different from ANC in laboratory conditions, installation of the ANC system in vehicles for a long term use requires the solution of a number of practical issues. This paper reports the progress of a couple of practical ANC installations, and the implication and solution of practical issues such as magnitude and frequency variations (corresponding to different vehicle operating conditions) of the primary and reference signals, and poor coherence between primary and reference signals.

Noises on discrete frequency can be efficiently controled by using active noise control technique. A self control system which has 4 error input & 2 counteracting output is designed by the author. Abstract:The acoustical behavior of an automobile cabin was analyzed. The theoretical model of an active noise control system was built by use of the transfer function method. On this basis, an active noise control system was designed, then its hardware and software were developed and tested to control stable pure noise in this enclosure. The test was repeatedly carried with pure noises at variant frequencies. The results of the test show that the meaning reduction over the measured plane is about 10dB for the noise at 139Hz and 5dB at 150Hz. The noise with frequencies over 200Hz was attenuated as well in some certain regions. At last, the rule of the monitoring microphone distribution was discussed to gain a good control result.

Abstract:The work tests and analyzes the engine noise distribution in a car with and without active control, where the car’s built-in loudspeakers are used as secondary sources to attenuate the engine noise inside the whole cabin. To analyze the sound field in detail, the noise level at 52 microphones on the passenger ears’ plane is measured and presented. The distributions of the primary overall noise, first four order noise of the engine, and the sound field generated by the subwoofer at engine orders’ frequencies are reported, and the noise reductions corresponding to overall engine noise and each order’s noise are analyzed. Besides, jury test is presented and compared with the calculated loudness of residual noise to evaluate the acoustic comfort improvement of the system. The experiment results show that the overall noise reduction is achieved inside the whole cabin by controlling the first four orders’ engine noise. The average noise reduction of the measurement area inside the cabin is 6.2 dB and 2.9 dBA. Besides, 93% of the participants feel the acoustic comfort is improved with the active noise control system on.

Abstract:A multi-channel self-adaptive active noise control system is designed.It has four error inputs and two offset outputs.Furthermore,the structure,design method and control principle are introduced in detail.Using this system,160 Hz single-frequency sine noise,the third order harmonic sinusoidal noise and the actual noise from a certain type of submarine are experimented respectively in an ordinary closed room and the effect of 8 dB,10 dB and 20 dB are obtained respectively.The experimental result verifies the feasibility and effectiveness of the system.

Abstract:Reducing rotor aerodynamic noise is an important challenge in helicopter design. Active flap control (AFC) on rotors is an effective noise reduction method. It changes the segment airfoil shape, aerodynamic load distribution, and the wake path of the rotor flow by adding trailing edge flaps (TEFs). Although AFC noise reduction control is easily simulated, the relevant experiments have not been widely conducted due to test technical problems and limited financial support. The acoustic characteristics of the AFC-equipped rotor, such as the placement of TEFs for noise reduction and whether multiple winglets can provide a better effect than single winglets, have not been verified in previous experiments. In this work, an AFC-equipped rotor with two TEFs was designed, and its acoustic properties were tested in the FL-17 acoustic wind tunnel with microphone arrays in the far field. The results showed that the noise reduction effect of AFC was closely related to the control frequency and phase. Increasing the control phase could move the reduction region toward the azimuth-decreasing region for far-field noise. The noise reduction in a single outboard TEF was better than that in a single inboard TEF, while the dual-TEF model performed better. In this experiment, the average noise reduction in the observation point at the lower front of the rotor could be more than 3 dB, and the maximum noise reduction could be 6.2 dB.

Abstract:The power system and its noise characteristic of Fuel Cell Vehicle(FCV) are quite different from those of traditional cars.In FCV,the air auxiliary system becomes one of the main noise sources.In recent years,active noise control(ANC) has become a research focus.It has advantages for the traditional passive noise control in middle-and low-frequency range.However,because of the time-variation property of noise sources and environments,it is necessary to use adaptive active noise control(AANC) in middle-and low-frequency noise control of the air auxiliary system in FCV.In this paper,the development progress of ANC technology was summarized,and the research of ANC in recent years was expatiated.Analysis was focused on the research progress of adaptive algorithm.Finally,the prospect of the ANNC application in the field of vibration and noise reduction of the air auxiliary system in FCV was forecasted.

Abstract:An active noise reduction method for low frequency linear spectrum radiated noise of propeller is proposed. By placing secondary sound source and hydrophone around propeller, active noise reduction is carried out according to acoustic interference principle and adaptive filtering algorithm. In this paper, the numerical calculation results of near-field and far-field radiated noise of propeller based on Suboff model are used to verify that the method can achieve the noise reduction effect of low-frequency line spectrum noise. Moreover, by comparing the placement positions of different secondary sound sources and hydrophones, the layout scheme of active control system is preliminarily proposed.
