Abstract:CSSCI (Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index) has a certain influence and reorganization in Chinese humanities and social sciences, this paper tries to analyze the reasons for the spreading influence and characteristics of CSSCI to explore application prospect of citation analysis. It is pointed out that the CSSCI Citation analysis would be an important and feasible method of academic evaluation of humanities and social sciences. Establishing and improving CSSCI is bound to become an important aspect of constructing China's evaluation system of humanities and social sciences.

Abstract:Based on analyses on existing indicators for evaluating journals in the humanities and social sciences and our experience in constructing the Chinese Social Science Citation Index（CSSCI）,we proposed a comprehensive system for evaluating Chinese academic journals in the humanities and social sciences.This system constitutes 8 primary indicators and 17 sub-indicators for multidisciplinary journals and 19 sub-indicators for discipline-specific journals.Each indicator or sub-indicator is assigned a suitable weight according to its importance in terms of measuring a journal’s academic quality and/or impact.

Abstract:Taking CSSCI source journals as data source,we get link indexes of relevant sites with Yahoo! Site Explorer and calculate correlation of journal ranking and the link indexes.Furthermore,we build the link index system of journal network evaluation,providing some guidance and suggestions to improve and optimize journal websites.

Abstract:Purpose - This paper is written as an attempt to employ the Chinese Social Science Citation Index (CSSCI) in the evaluation of Chinese humanities and social science research.Design/methodology/approach - This paper uses statistics in the CSSCI (2000-2004) to analyze the academic impact of researchers, papers and works, institutions and regions on Chinese humanities and social science research.Findings - The authors identify 100 highly cited people, 50 highly cited papers, 50 highly cited works, 20 highly productive institutions and 20 highly cited institutions. Also provided is some regional information about Chinese humanities and social science research.Originality/value - It is hoped that the CSSCI, as well as the analysis and evaluation based on it, will give researchers a better understanding of Chinese humanities and social science research.

Abstract:Academic journals,by which academic influence of a country is indicated,provide important sources for research.The number of papers collected by the three US science citation databases(SCI,SSCI,AHCI) is an important index of a discipline's international academic influence.An analysis of academic papers indexed by the three science citation databases over the last three decades in our country reveals that great gaps exist in the number of papers indexed by each database,which embodies great imbalance in the development and international academic influence of the three subjects,of which natural science developed at a high speed,social science developed rapidly,and art and humanities developed slowly.In order to enhance the international academic influence of our country,policies should be stipulated to balance the development of different subjects.The way to classify subjects should be reformed: the philosophical social science should be divided into two subjects——social science and art humanities.Correct methods should be used in evaluating different subjects and measures should be taken to assist academic journals in entering international citation databases and thereby promote the internationalization.

Abstract:From the perspective of column establishment,this paper analyzes the establishment and the related aspects of the columns in CSSCI(SPORTS)Source Journals.It reveals that all these journals persist in setting up some steadfast columns and,through using different proportion in the journal,high lightening the distinctive features of their own journal from the similar column in other journals.And every journal is giving top priority to the exclusive column,which focuses on hot topics to attract heated discussion,thus leading the academic study on the topic and inspiring scholars to explore and reflect on the related areas.We also find that most of the columns are well-named,showing the editor's scrupulous consideration about the theme.From the analyses,we can find a trend that most of the CSSCI(SPORTS) Source Journals lay great emphasis on the column establishment and focus on improving the quality of the journal,which will be beneficial for the development of the whole journal publication.

CSSCI provides an efficient tool for people to obtain information about Chinese social science research. Its CD-ROM disks have been manufactured and a Web site has been set up for people to search for information about it. In this article the authors introduce the goals, significance and functions of CSSCI and a detailed explanation of the data structure and the direction of data flow is provided.

Abstract:Based on the data of CSSCI in 1998~2008,this paper analyzes the citation of 《Journal of the China Society for Scientific and Technical Information》,and analyzes its influence from the determination /f H-inde8,sebject distribution,year distribution of citation,journal immediacy index.Meanwhile,based on deteRmination methods proposed by domestic scholars,this paper determinates core authors by comprehensive evaluatIon index method based on amount of published papers,times cited,the numbers of paper citation.The results show that H-index of this journal is higher other most same journals,the influence and contribution is high,and formed steady and high quality core authors.

Abstract:Journal impact factor is one of indicators of evaluation of academic journals.Time distribution of citations of CSSCI is very similar to that of SSCI.Based on statistics of time distribution of cited Chinese journals,Chinese academic journals of humanities and social sciences and source journals of CSSCI in citations of CSSCI,the cited peak-years of journals is the 2nd and 3rd year after publication.It is all the same to that of international journals.Thereby,the method of calculation of international journals is completely applicable to that of Chinese academic journals of humanities and social sciences.

Abstract:The Science Citation Index (SCI) was introduced primarily as a method of information retrieval but has alsobeen used as an objective measure of the quality of an academic article. The SCI also provides the scientific communitywith a citations database indicating the number of cited references in indexed articles. In fact the impact factor is awidespread used and acknowledged source for judging the quality of a researcher. For several reasons, the SCI seems to bemore relevant. Because of this importance, there have been many pros and cons regarding the feasibility and potentialutility of the SCI as a mean of academic evaluation in the Chinese scientific community. Overall, China' s share in theworld scientific literature is much less than that of many other countries. Data on the observed citation impact of Chineseresearch in different fields, including medicine, show that the work done in China in general is not integrated well intointernational research. This article intended to introduce some basic aspects with respect to the SCI and to present apersonal view on its role as an international stage of academic merit.

Abstract:[Purpose/Significance] To explore the solidification phenomenon and its degree of the head publishing institutions of CSSCI source journals in various disciplines, so as to provide reference for studying the influence of crystallization of science. [Method/Process] Taking the publishing institutions of CSSCI source journals as the analysis object, this paper analyzed the phenomenon of the solidification of the head publishing institutions of CSSCI source journals, and the degree of solidification of the head publishing institutions of varius disciplines from the aspects of the amount of articles issued by institutions, the proportion of articles issued by disciplines, the average amount of articles issued by institutions and the net flow rate of the head publishing institutions. [Result/Conclusion] The distribution of publishing institutions in various disciplines of CSSCI source journals is “centralized at the head-decentralized at the tail”, and a few publishing institutions have always maintained a large proportion of publishing in the past twenty years. The solidifying degree of the head publishing institutions is different in the first 1%, the first 10% and the first 20%. On the whole, the solidifying degree of the head publishing institutions of economics is the highest, and that of humanities, economic geography and art is the lowest.

Abstract:Applying CSSCI as a base,this paper analyzes the research character of library science and information science,and points out the problems concerning each;namely,poor citation of documents,a lower proportion of foreign documents being cited,a lack of inter-organizational and interregional cooperation,a lack of theoretical research positive results.In order to promote the disciplinary status of library science and information science,the author points out that we must attach importance to theoretical research and innovation,improve the quality of academic research in papers,enhance social impact by promoting excellent studies,facilitate interdisciplinary cooperation and expand fields where research achievements can be applied.

Abstract:Using content analysis method, based on word frequency analysis and mapping knowledge domain and information visualization, the paper analyzes 17981 papers published in the 27 core journals of management science that embodied by Chinese Social Science Citation Index during 2004-2006.It draws the co-word map to identify the main research issues of management science in China. And by mapping knowledge domain studies the authors dynamically reveal the research issues domain and the trend of research of management science on the academic area in China in recent three years.

Abstract:Immediacy Index is the index for characterizing instant reaction rate of periodicals,used for describing the situation of papers published in natural science periodicals cited in that same year.However,the citation peak of humanities and social sciences papers moves forward,the direct application of the index has certain shortcoming.The paper chooses 49 kinds of Library,Information and Documentation Science academic periodicals as the research objects,and gains the data from CSSCI(2004-2008),to arrange for these periodicals and describe the trend of the periodicals,by data statistics and quantitative analysis of the corrected immediacy index,which is an important quantitative indicator for citing analysis,the paper reveals their academic reaction sensitivity,indicates their academic level and status in the subject,and attempts to induct the benign development of the periodicals in this discipline and promote academic exchanges.
