Abstract:In order to provide production safety and determine the optimal ventilation scheme in coal mining, the mines should be classified by their gas emission and mine security rank. In this paper the three models of mine classification, mine insecurity, and the optimal ventilation required by the mine are established and solved by MatLab and Lingo software. In answer to question 1, firstly, the daily absolute gas emission amount and relative gas are evaluated by average values of absolute and relative gas emission rates. It is shown that average values distribution complies with the normal distribution and fluctuation around the stable value. Finally, according to the standard requirements, the mine is classified as a high gas mine. In answer to question 2, the relationship is established between the gas concentration and the lower limit of coal dust explosion concentration, and a specific function relationship between gas concentration and coal dust explosion concentration is obtained by logarithmic fitting. The fuzzy membership function is derived, and the fuzzy statistical evaluation model is established to evaluate the mine safely. The probability safety value calculated by MatLab software is 4.63 %. In answer to question 3, firstly, according to the relationship between gas concentration, coal dust concentration and ventilation speed, the minimum air volume actually required by the coal mining face under the condition of safe production is established. Through MatLab programming calculation, the minimum air volume of coal mining face 1 and face 2 is 385.10 and 531.08 m<sup>3</sup>/min, respectively. According to the diversion of the air volume of each working zone and the specific requirements for ventilation speed in each zone, a ventilation optimization model is established and solved by Lingo software. The calculated air volume of the local ventilator and the optimal (total) air volume required by the mine are 150 and 1491.18 m<sup>3</sup>/min, respectively. Finally, through the solution and analysis of the model, it is shown that the simulation method is reasonable and can produce reliable guidance for management of high-risk coal mining enterprises.

Abstract:For the reason of more complex ventilation, system and more ventilation parameters needed in the coal mine, the standard mathematical model of ventilation system is hard to be set up. At the same time, the common practice cannot obtain the satisfactory effect. This paper put forward a remote monitoring system of coal mine ventilation based on a fuzzy control to realize the real-time monitoring of mine ventilation systems. The remote automatic control program of ventilator will be realized by Siemens modules and configuration softwares. The results show that the fuzzy automatic control system is useful, with. the characteristic of safe, reliable and easy-operating. It provides a reliable guarantee for safe production of coal mines and the efficient operations of the fan.

Abstract:This article is based on the situation of too large coal mine ventilation resistance in the Majiagou coal mine. According to Majiagou coal mine late production plans, it measures resistance comprehensively, analyses the resistance distributions and the problems exist in the ventilation systems and comes up with targeted optimization programs. By studying the ventilation system model, as well as adjusting the system parameters, Ventsim software is applied to study ventilation system in Majiagou coal mine. Design of mine ventilation is proved practical in the mine ventilation system optimizations, thus Ventsim software can not only be used in the ventilation network calculation and merry-demand simulation and dynamic of wind flow, but also can be used to assist in the short-term and long-term planning for ventilation system, it is of a certain significance of guidance to find the problems in the mine management and optimizations of the ventilation network.

Abstract:The safety assurance of intelligent mine building in China is intelligent mine ventilation. The idea of intelligent sensing and interactive control of underground ventilation human-machine-loop integrated information flow is pointed out based on the “combination of level and battle” in order to genuinely accomplish intelligent mine ventilation. Additionally, it covers the theory and design of mine intelligent ventilation, as well as accurate monitoring and early warning systems, real-time network problem-solving, fault diagnostics, and intelligent decision-making. Furthermore, it supports the platform structure of the mine intelligent ventilation system, the creation of new sensors for accurate ventilation parameter monitoring and arrangement strategy optimization, the processing of ventilation parameter information flow, the method for solving the wind network, the integration of the mine climate and ventilation network, the solution to the wind network’s response, and the concept of mine intelligent ventilation. To avoid the inaccuracy of point wind velocity measurement brought on by an uneven distribution of wind velocity in shaft section, a novel technique of direct measurement of wind volume in complete section is presented; To increase the precision of real-time wind network solution and the stability of routine operation of intelligent ventilation, a real-time wind resistance adaptive adjustment wind network solving model with heat and humidity coupling has been created.Building a catastrophe evolution model for coal and gas protrusion, fire, and other disasters requires the use of a field-area-network coupling numerical solution approach based on full-size disaster test data. Additionally, based on full-scale disaster test data, it developed a coupled field-area-network numerical solution method, constructed a disaster evolution model for coal and gas protrusion, fire, and gas ex-plosion, and overcame the obstacle to disaster autonomous decision making and control of mine intelligent ventilation system; In conjunction with implementation cases for mine intelligent ventilation,it elaborated the field implementation and operation process of mine intelligent ventilation in regards to precise wind measurement,linkage control of ventilation facilities and equipment,intelligent fire and dust prevention,and pointed out the issues and future direction of mine intelligent ventilation construction.

Abstract:The calculation of air distribution in large mine ventilation networks is usually carried out by numerically solving a system of equations representing Kirchhoff's circuit laws. This formulation of the problem traditionally only considers the frictional air resistance of straight sections of mine airways. However, when analyzing the changing ventilation modes, it is also important to correctly consider the shock losses, which sufficiently affect the redistribution of airflows. The reason is that the shock loss factor strongly depends on the airflow rates at the junctions of mine airways. This paper presents a mathematical model of a ventilation network that considers shock losses. The model considers steady-state air distribution as well as natural draft. The significance of the shock was confirmed with a practical example; we describe the application of the proposed mathematical model for the analysis of air distribution in the ventilation network of a potash mine during planned airflow reversal.

Abstract:The existing evaluation method of mine ventilation system is to evaluate it as a whole from the overall perspective of mine ventilation system. The evaluation conclusions are static and comprehensive, which cannot precisely locate the ventilation situation in the wind range of the mine and discover its problems, and can not reflect the current state of ventilation quality in real time. In order to solve the above problems, a dynamic evaluation model of mine ventilation quality based on fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method-analytic hierarchy process(FCE-AHP) is established to evaluate the ventilation quality of coal mines in real time. Firstly, according to the requirements and functions of mine ventilation, the ventilation area is divided into five areas, namely, air inlet section, air return section, coal working face, heading face and chamber. And the corresponding evaluation index system is determined according to each type of ventilation area. Secondly, according to the evaluation index system, the data monitored in real time by the sensors of corresponding wind measuring points are obtained, the evaluation index weights of each area are determined by AHP. And the membership degree of the evaluation level belonging to the real-time monitoring data is calculated by the Cauchy distribution membership function. Finally, the rating weights are calculated by applying FCE, and the regional ventilation quality level is determined by the confidence recognition principle so as to complete the dynamic evaluation of the ventilation quality of each region. Taking the south wing of return airway of Dongtan Coal Mine as an example, the FCE-AHP model is used to evaluate the ventilation quality of Dongtan Coal Mine in real time. The evaluation results show that the ventilation quality is good and is consistent with the actual situation, which proves the reliability of the model. The FCE-AHP model can evaluate the ventilation quality of different ventilation areas of coal mines in real time based on the data monitored in real time, determine the safety level of coal mine ventilation quality, then achieve a comprehensive evaluation of mine ventilation quality, and provide a basis for improving the quality of coal mine ventilation systems.

Abstract:As an indispensable subsystem of the mine production system, mine ventilation system is a general term for the underground ventilation network, ventilation power equipment and all control facilities of ventilation. Its functions are as follows: (I) Providing fresh air to all working places when the mine is under normal production, and removing the contaminated air to give the workers a clean working environment; (2) Discharging the underground coal seam gas caused by mining actives through ventilation, thus making the gas more difficult to gather and avoiding the explosion of coal mine gas by reducing the mine gas concentration in the working area; (3) Providing the efficient ventilation when the coal mine accident happens. It should be able to control the direction and quality of the fresh air flow by utilizing related ventilation facilities not only to quickly evacuate the disaster victims on one hand, but also to prevent the accident from becoming worse and widespread. Because of the significant importance of the mine ventilation system, the number of the equipment and facilities for establishing it is huge and the variety of influence factors is enormous. Essentially speaking, the mine ventilation system is a very complicated and a nonlinear system. How to describe it properly and find out how the dynamic changes in the subsystems can impact the whole system's future evolution and progress is a challenge for the mine ventilation engineers. With the System Dynamics (SD) as the research approach and by establishing dynamic simulation models based on practical observation information from a real mine ventilation system, this paper describes the future evolution of the system through computer testing. In detail, the relationship between some factors (mainly investment) and the safety improvement of the mine ventilation system is investigated. Furthermore, a total of seven designed candidate plans are tested by the mine ventilation interference experiments based on the System Dynamics model. The results of experiments may provide the better scientific references for the future mine ventilation investment planning.

Abstract:The monitoring of ventilation resistance in domestic coal mines is generally faced with two problems: huge workload and lagging monitoring data behind production, which is due to the backward monitoring technology. In recent years, with the progress of technology and equipment in the coal industry, ventilation resistance monitoring products have appeared in the market one after another, but they still face the following main problems: (1) the sensor measurement error needs to be further improved; (2) The monitoring scheme is relatively simple, and the use of absolute pressure multi-parameter monitoring faces two problems: measurement error and construction cost; (3) There is a lack of successful application cases of ventilation resistance monitoring in the industry, and the analysis and application of ventilation resistance monitoring data by the upper computer is insufficient. In view of the above problems, this paper studies the principle, monitoring scheme, system framework and practical application of ventilation resistance monitoring, aiming to solve the problem of real-time online monitoring and analysis of ventilation resistance.

Abstract:The present work aims to discover the accumulation process and distribution of harmful and toxic gases near the fully mechanized mining face by using numerical simulation method.In light of the actual situation of an"U"type working face,a geometric model and dynamic governing equations were developed to trace the transient accumulation and distribution of the gases such as CH4and CO.The calculation results show that CH4and CO sourced from the goaf and the mining seams enter in the mainstream by following the airflow and then accumulate in the return corner,with their concentrations gradually growing and eventually reaching the steady values.The process of gas accumulation near the mining equipment is similar to that observed in the return corner,but the accumulation process is even faster.Mainly influenced by the floating effect,the gas concentrations are lower at the windward side of the equipment.The process of gas accumulation at the leeward side is mainly influenced by the vortex,and the harmful gases accumulate in the upper part of the leeward side in principal.It was found that, under normal ventilation condition,CH4concentration has exceeded maximum allowable value and CO concentration can also reach the level of doing harm to human's health in some particular locations.The established understanding provides guidance for the monitoring and control of the harmful gases near the working face in an underground coal mine.

Abstract:Abstract The mine ventilation system plays a role in purifying the air and providing a good working environment in coal mine production. Aiming at the unclear concept and inconsistency in solving problems in the process of intelligent construction of mine ventilation system, this paper conducts exploratory research on the connotation of mine ventilation intelligence, theoretical structure model, construction logic and scientific problems to be solved by means of literature review, on-site investigation and qualitative analysis. The research results show that the mine ventilation intelligent system needs to use real-time and full monitoring data, and by integrating brain science principles, machine learning and analysis and other technologies, it can immediately correct the air volume distribution defects, realize automatic power adjustment, remote facility management and control and accurate disaster identification. The theoretical model from the inside to the outside is the concept layer, the key scientific issues and technology layer, the model layer, the application layer and the theoretical support layer. The intelligent process of mine ventilation needs to comprehensively consider the relationship between the conscious human body, the cyber body and the ventilation physical entity in the processes of knowledge accumulation, knowledge modeling, knowledge movement, innovation and optimization, learning progress and feedback evolution. The intelligent ventilation system consists of perception layer, transmission layer and application layer. The research provides a theoretical basis for the intelligent construction of mine ventilation.

Abstract:In a coal mine, air leakage exists in some roadways through doors and other ventilation structures inevitably. Based on this opinion, there are different views on whether these roadways must be assigned airflow in coal mine ventilation design. This paper analyses some relevant regulations and criteria on the designed air quantity of coal mines. Then, based on the ventilation design of the Guizhou Yizhong Coal Mine, through the study of the calculation of needed air quantity of every working place and its distribution method in coal mine ventilation design, this paper puts forward that explosion-proof door, safety exit, and other short distance roadways with ventilation structures need not assign airflow in coal mine ventilation design, while some long-distance roadways need. Additionally, it presents the main reason to support this opinion, gives the distribution method of inner air leakage quantity, which comes with the calculation of the designed mine total air quantity, puts forward the remedy method for the air leakage through ventilation structures in a coal mine ventilation system, then offers the mine operator with the basic opinions for the day-to-day planning and effective operation of a coal mine ventilation system.

Abstract:AbstractWith the gradual development of deep mining, heat hazard has become an increasingly prominent problem, which poses a great threat to the coal mine production. In order to reduce the heat hazard effectively, it is necessary to investigate the temperature distribution characteristics and regulation of the surrounding rock of the mine tunnels. Based on field measurement data from a Chinese coal mine, the present study probes into the dynamic law of periodic variation of the heat regulation circle (HRC) in surrounding rocks, which is featured by the serious heat hazard, and further reveals the evolution characteristics of the physical range of HRC and the temperature field distribution. By analyzing field data, it can be concluded that a total of five typical distribution models of HRC of surrounding rocks are summarized. Influencing factors concerning thermophysical properties, thermal environment conditions of the stratum, and boundary conditions play important roles and affect the formation of such five models. A mathematical model of heat regulation and energy storage of surrounding rocks in a mine tunnel is proposed. Calculations of air temperature–regulating capability of HRC and evaluating its cooling storage capacity are also demonstrated. Using the HRC in rocks for cooling underground ventilation may be a good and green engineering practice for coal mines.

Application of VENTSIM 3 D and mathematical programming to optimize underground mine ventilation network : A case study

Abstract:Ventilation is a vital component of an underground mining operation, used to guarantee a safe atmosphere for workers and survive them from the hazardous and toxic gases. In the recent years, engineers have begun to apply new operation research techniques in order to optimize the ventilation systems to assist in achieving a regulatory compliance, reduce ventilation costs, and improve its efficiency. Airflow regulation optimization in mine ventilation networks is described as a minimization model whose objective function is a minimum number of regulators and energy consumption. In this work, all the previously accomplished works were first reviewed. Then a ventilation system was designed for the Western-Razmja coal mine by a manual method, and an axial fan was proposed. Subsequently, the same ventilation system was simulated using the VENTSIM 3D software. The results obtained by computer simulation showed that there was a reliable relation between the manual method and the simulation approach. In the final step, the GAMS software was used to solve a Mathematical Programming (MP) problem to minimize the overall cost of ventilation by determination of the optimum location for the fan and regulators. The final results of this work illustrated that not only the number of regulators were reduced through solving the MP model but also the total resistance of the Western-Razmja coal mine was reduced by 14% from 1.6 to 1.3. Furthermore, it was observed that the total efficiency of the proposed fan was increased.

Abstract:An efficient ventilation system provides underground coal mine with sufficient fresh air, removes dust and hazardous gases, which is the guarantee of the environmental safety in a laneway of coal mines. The airflow dispersion behavior seriously impacts the removal efficiency of dust in the mine network. This paper describes the dynamic characteristics of airflow and dust dispersion regularity based on the computational fluid dynamic (CFD) methods under a typical structure in a laneway of coal mine. First, the model takes the conservation of momentum, turbulent mass and energy into consideration, and the computational domain and obstacles within it are discretized. Second, based on the numerical platform, turbulence model is tested and compared with previous experimental data. Good agreement between experimental studies and model prediction is obtained for k-epsilon model. Furthermore, the steady and transient Discrete Phase Model (DPM) is applied to analyze the dust dispersion and movement under complex air diffusion over time, meanwhile different airflow velocities are investigated. Therefore, the trajectory and concentration of the dust are performed in three-dimensional flow field. The research results indicate that the present work can be meaningful for further understanding of dust movement characteristics with air flow, which could also provide suitable guidance for the ventilation system of emergency rescuing.

Abstract:Abstract Based on the computational fluid dynamics and mine ventilation theory, the geometrical model of the fully mechanized excavation face under the conditions of long-short and short-pump ventilation system was established with the comprehensive mining face of the 905 transportation lane in Shanxi Coal Group. The FLUENT software is used to simulate the distribution characteristics and variation of the wind flow field and dust field in the three-dimensional space of the fully mechanized excavation working face at different air supply speeds, and the simulation results are verified by field test. According to the numerical simulation study and the on-site measurement results, the optimal position of the dust migration law of the fully mechanized excavation face under the long-short and short-drain ventilation mode is determined, and the rationalization suggestions for the mine dust control are put forward.

Abstract:Underground mines have gradually entered the stage of deep mining with the consumption of shallow mineral resources, which makes mine ventilation networks generally complicated and the problem of unstable supply of branch airflow volume in deep-level ventilation networks increasingly serious. The scientific distribution of the airflow volume between operation areas has become an important problem in the optimization of mine ventilation systems. This study takes the ventilation system of the Xinli Submine of Sanshandao Gold Mine as an example to analyze the airflow volume regulation demand of the deep-level section stope to further improve the coordination of the airflow volume distribution in the underground mine. The drawing and equivalent simplification of the ventilation network diagram are completed according to the engineering parameters of the target level roadway, and the sensitivity matrix is calculated using a formula. The optimization of the adjustment branch and the formulation of the adjustment scheme are carried out based on the sensitivity matrix. By realizing the adjustment objective of the branch airflow volume via comparing the airflow volume of the ventilation network before and after adjustment, the adjustment scheme can make the airflow volume distribution in the level more balanced. The results of our study show that branch sensitivity theory is theoretically feasible for analyzing and solving the problem of the mine ventilation network, which has certain practical significance for the adjustment of airflow volume in mines.
