Abstract:The SCV is a key gasification device at commercial receiving terminals for peak-shaving purposes. This study focuses on the prediction methods for forced convection heat transfer during the flow of supercritical liquefied natural gas (LNG) within the SCV. Initially, a comprehensive database comprising 17,918 data points is established through numerical simulations of supercritical LNG under varying tube structures, operating conditions, and component contents. Subsequently, employing dimensionless analysis and the temperature segmentation method, a relevant correlation for forced convection heat transfer, specifically applicable to supercritical LNG, is put forward. Moreover, a comparative evaluation is performed to gauge the predictive precision of the suggested correlation in contrast to existing correlations. The results suggest that none of the existing correlations demonstrate satisfactory accuracy in predicting the heat transfer coefficient of supercritical LNG in horizontal flow across various parameters, including those specifically proposed for supercritical methane and LNG. The proposed correlation in this study exhibits significantly improved prediction accuracy, with a MAE of only 1.88% and predicting 94.44% of the entire data within ±5%. The outcomes of this research are expected to facilitate efficient engineering design of SCV systems.
