Abstract:Tropical botanical landscapes are ancestral, alive, and didactic; there, events and emotions are knowledge; there you do not feel paralyzed by nostalgia; you take enthusiastic empowering action towards the future. This journey begins at the Botanical Garden of Maracaibo (JBM), Venezuela, conceived by the Brazilian landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx and the Venezuelan botanist Leandro Aristeguieta, together with José Tabacow, Haroushi Ono, and Ernesto Foldats. The JBM opened in 1983 to preserve the tropical dry forest and as the First School of Horticulture in Latin America. This article discusses three lessons learned during the restoration and reopening of the garden (2009–2018), after 20 years of closure. The first lesson discusses the ancestral values embedded in the JBM capable of establishing relationships across scales and time and through urban components. The second section questions the performative essence of the JBM, where scientific and artistic knowledge production co-occurs. The third part focuses on preservation as a transformation that, over time, moves towards the expansion of the immaterial pedagogical mission of the case study to the larger tropical scale. Finally, the article discusses the preservation of the JBM beyond the garden’s walls and towards the tropical metropolitan landscapes.

Abstract:Landscape gardening ecology is definitely emerging as an ideal concept of art between science and the social sciences. It, today, has become an interdisciplinary significant subject of study. Any artist is, today, a specialist, with varied but favourite and specialised questions. Were the Mughals had been acquainted and conscious of this form of significant art? Or, had landscape gardening been the result of their taste for leisure and pleasure so far as presented and argued? Or, it were neither of these? Besides, what is now set forth as an ideal is an inclusive maintenance of ‘biodiversity’ that actually aims to highlight the concept of ecologically ‘environmental sustainability’. Hence, a school that calls its approach ‘Historical Ecology’ is insisting to look upon the ‘past’ in order to insight the ‘present’ and guide the future. Thus, in-brief, of several, but two objectives may remain principal to define this paper. One, what was the Mughal perception of Kashmir ecology? Abstract:In the modern world, a person is in constant work, sometimes for a long time he does not have the opportunity to relax in a park, square or in the forest. In winter, it becomes even more difficult, hence the poor health, health problems. Plants can correct this situation, since they have a number of advantages: oxygen production; air purification and humidification; increasing human resistance to stress. Therefore it is necessary to pay great attention to landscaping of interiors. Interior gardening is an independent direction of landscape architecture aimed at creating natural conditions for a comfortable life and effective work of a person in a closed environment. The scientifically grounded introduction of plants into interior design is called phytodesign. This takes into account the biological compatibility of plants, their ecological characteristics, the ability to improve indoor air quality. There are ecological and functional types of premises in which the use of interior plants is possible.

Abstract:As the scarce mountain scenery in Shanghai suburbs,Chenshan Hill's human history can be traced back to the Ming Dynasty.Since the twentieth century,the quarrying operations have made it a waste land.Now,with the new botanical garden construction,this landscape has the opportunity to be reshaped and ecologically restored.It is the environmental ethic and design philosophy that to identify the site's complicated information layer system,to judge the value of the abandoned land,to respect the objective historical consequence and to continue its development course.With technology development,the design wisely adopted the minimum intervention strategy to transform and reconstruct the site information layer system,so that to achieve multiple transformation goals,to update people's cognition on the fourth nature,and to establish a new harmonious relationship between human and nature.

Abstract:Abstract In recent years, with the rapid development of human civilization, a variety of environmental problems have emerged. As the most important natural ecological system of terrestrial ecosystems, forest ecosystem plays a significant role in protecting the environment and beautifying cities. The landscape planning and design of botanical gardens is of great significance to the maintenance of the urban forest ecosystem. Taking the Nanshan botanical garden as the research object, this paper analysed the present situation of the garden and carried out the vegetation landscape planning transformation on it from the perspective of landscape ecology. Then, the landscape hierarchy analysis method was used to evaluate the landscape after the transformation, the results of which suggested that the comprehensive evaluation of the garden was the highest when the plant landscape was diversified and the structure level was reasonable, which provided a reference for the optimization of the urban forest ecosystem.

Abstract:Widespread urbanization has led to urban areas becoming increasingly seen as sites for biodiversity conservation. Urban and landscape planners are required to concurrently tackle environmental and social issues, such as facilitating public acceptance towards naturalistic habitats and its associated biodiversity in urban areas. The research presented here quantifies public perception of nature in relation to landscape choices in Singapore, a highly urbanized city in which sustainable landscape planning movements have recently begun to take root. Results indicate that landscape preference tended towards manicured landscapes despite an overall tendency towards nature conservation, which is best achieved in naturalistic habitats. Reasons driving landscape choice were found to be aesthetic, with a focus on visual hues present in a landscape. Specific education in ecology/conservation as well as increased opportunities to experience first-hand natural areas abroad were factors that may influence landscape choice to encompass more naturalistic habitats.

Abstract:The digital visual operation of computer can serve as a "design medium" and "analytical tool". In this study, the "garden image prototype" in ancient Chinese prints in the Ming and Qing Dynasties are transformed the into the visualization construction of computer 3D model. Moreover, the engraving illustrations of ancient Chinese books also spread to the world with the derivative function of "garden atlas". As the "sketch" of landscape architecture, garden image can still accurately convey the design intention in landscape schema language, spatial scale diagram and design methodology. The preliminary restoration of digital landscape in this paper does not emphasize precision, or one-to-one restoration, but a kind of fuzzy and experimental virtual digital model exploration from the aspects of space situation, garden elements and construction methods.
