Abstract:In <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="math.GR/0510298" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/math.GR/0510298">math.GR/0510298</a>, we showed that every F-quasigroup is linear over a special kind of Moufang loop called an NK-loop. Here we extend this relationship by showing an equivalence between the equational class of (pointed) F-quasigroups and the equational class corresponding to a certain notion of generalized module (with noncommutative, nonassociative addition) for an associative ring.

Abstract:Let $n$ be a natural number. A subgroup $H$ of a group $G$ will be called $n$-modularly embedded in $G$ if either $H$ is normal in $G$ or $H\not= \mathrm{Core}_{G}(H)$, $|G:H| =p$ and $|G/\mathrm{Core}_{G}(H)|=pq^{n}$, $q^{n}$ divides $p-1$ for some primes $p$ and $q$. Let $k$ be a fixed natural number. A subgroup $H$ of a group $G$ will be called $k$-submodular in $G$ if there exists a chain $H = H_{0} \leq H_{1} \leq \cdots \leq H_{m-1} \leq H_{m} = G$ of subgroups such that $H_{i-1}$ is $n$-modularly embedded in $H_{i}$ for some natural $n\leq k$ and every $i = 1, \ldots , m$. In this article, properties of $k$-submodular subgroups and classes of groups with given systems of $k$-submodular subgroups are obtained.

Abstract:The goal of this paper is to show that fundamental concepts in higher-order Fourier analysis can be nauturally extended to the non-commutative setting. We generalize Gowers norms to arbitrary compact non-commutative groups. On the structural side, we show that nilspace theory (the algebraic part of higher-order Fourier analysis) can be naturally extended to include all non-commutative groups. To this end, we introduce generalized nilspaces called "groupspaces" and demonstrate that they possess properties very similar to nilspaces. We study $k$-th order generalizations of groups that are special groupspaces called {\it k-step} groupspaces. One step groupspaces are groups. We show that $k$-step groupspaces admit the structure of an iterated principal bundle with structure groups $G_1,G_2,\dots,G_k$. A similar, but somewhat more technical statement holds for general groupspaces, with possibly infinitely many structure groups. Structure groups of groupspaces are in some sense analogous to higher homotopy groups. In particular we use a version of the Eckmann-Hilton argument from homotopy theory to show that $G_i$ is abelian for $i\geq 2$. Groupspaces also show some similarities with $n$-groups from higher category theory (also used in physics) but the exact relationship between these concepts is a subject of future research.

Abstract:In an earlier paper, the authors introduced partial translation algebras as a generalisation of group C⁎-algebras. Here we establish an extension of partial translation algebras, which may be viewed as an excision theorem in this context. We apply this general framework to compute the K-theory of partial translation algebras and group C⁎-algebras in the context of almost invariant subspaces of discrete groups. This generalises the work of Cuntz, Lance, Pimsner and Voiculescu. In particular we provide a new perspective on Pimsner's calculation of the K-theory for a graph product of groups.

Abstract:Let $G$ be a finite group. If $M_n < M_{n-1} < \ldots < M_1 < M_{0}=G $ where $M_i$ is a maximal subgroup of $M_{i-1}$ for all $i=1, \ldots ,n$, then $M_n $ ($n > 0$) is an \emph{$n$-maximal subgroup} of $G$. A subgroup $M$ of $G$ is called \emph{modular} if the following conditions are held: (i) $\langle X, M \cap Z \rangle=\langle X, M \rangle \cap Z$ for all $X \leq G, Z \leq G$ such that $X \leq Z$, and (ii) $\langle M, Y \cap Z \rangle=\langle M, Y \rangle \cap Z$ for all $Y \leq G, Z \leq G$ such that $M \leq Z$. In this paper, we study finite groups whose $n$-maximal subgroups are modular.

Abstract:The paper is a continuation of the works [17] of Vu and Shum, [18] and [19] of Vu and Hoa. In [17], Vu and Shum classified all the MD5-algebras having commutative derived ideals. In [18], Vu and Hoa considered foliations formed by the maximal dimensional K-orbits (for short, MD5-foliations) of connected MD5-groups such that their Lie algebras have 4-dimensional commutative derived ideals and gave a topological classification of the considered foliations. In [19], Vu and Hoa characterized the Connes' C*-algebras of some MD5-foliations considered in \cite{VU-HO09} by the method of K-functors. In this paper, we study K-theory for the leaf space of all MD5-foliations which are classified in [18] and characterize the Connes' C*-algebras of them by the method of K-functors.

Abstract:Given a class F of finite groups, a subgroup H of a group G is called F-n-normal in G if there exists a normal subgroup T of G such that HT is a normal subgroup of G and (H boolean AND T) H-G/H-G is contained in the F-hypercenter Z(infinity)(F)(G/H-G) of G/H-G. We obtain some results about the F-n-normal subgroups and use them to study the structure of some groups.

Abstract:Let $\nu=(n_1,\ldots, n_s), s\ge 2,$ be a sequence of positive integers and let $n=\sum_{1\le j\le s}n_j$. Let $\mathbb CG(\nu)=U(n)/(U(n_1)\times \cdots\times U(n_s))$ be the complex flag manifold. Denote by $P(m,\nu)=P(\mathbb S^m,\mathbb CG(\nu))$ the generalized Dold manifold $\mathbb S^m\times \mathbb CG(\nu)/\langle \theta\rangle $ where $\theta=\alpha\times \sigma$ with $\alpha:\mathbb S^m\to \mathbb S^m$ being the antipodal map and $\sigma:\mathbb CG(\nu)\to \mathbb CG(\nu)$, the complex conjugation. The manifold $P(m,\nu)$ has the structure of a smooth $\mathbb CG(\nu)$-bundle over the real projective space $\mathbb RP^m.$ We determine the additive structure of $H^*(P(m,\nu);R)$ when $R=\mathbb Z$ and its ring structure when $R$ is a commutative ring in which $2$ is invertible. As an application, we determine the additive structure of $K(P(m,\nu))$ almost completely and also obtain partial results on its ring structure. The results for the singular homology are obtained for generalized Dold spaces $P(S,X)=S\times X/\langle \theta\rangle$, where $\theta=\alpha\times \sigma$, $\alpha:S\to S$ is a fixed point free involution and $\sigma:X\to X$ is an involution with $\mathrm{Fix}(\sigma)\ne \emptyset,$ for a much wider class of spaces $S$ and $X$.

A generalization of K-theory to operator systems

Abstract:We propose a generalization of K-theory to operator systems. Motivated by spectral truncations of noncommutative spaces described by $C^*$-algebras and inspired by the realization of the K-theory of a $C^*$-algebra as the Witt group of hermitian forms, we introduce new operator system invariants indexed by the corresponding matrix size. A direct system is constructed whose direct limit possesses a semigroup structure, and we define the $K_0$-group as the corresponding Grothendieck group. This is an invariant of unital operator systems, and, more generally, an invariant up to Morita equivalence of operator systems. For $C^*$-algebras it reduces to the usual definition. We illustrate our invariant by means of the spectral localizer.

Abstract:Let $$\sigma =\{\sigma _i |i\in I\}$$ be some partition of all primes $${\mathbb {P}}$$ and G a finite group. A subgroup H of G is said to be $$\sigma $$ -subnormal in G if there exists a subgroup chain $$H=H_0\le H_1\le \cdots \le H_n=G$$ such that either $$H_{i-1}$$ is normal in $$H_i$$ or $$H_i/(H_{i-1})_{H_i}$$ is a finite $$\sigma _j$$ -group for some $$j \in I$$ for $$i = 1, \ldots , n$$ . We call a finite group G a $$T_{\sigma }$$ -group if every $$\sigma $$ -subnormal subgroup is normal in G. In this paper, we analyse the structure of the $$T_{\sigma }$$ -groups and give some characterisations of the $$T_{\sigma }$$ -groups.

Abstract:In this paper, a new invariant was built towards the classification of separable C*-algebras of real rank zero, which we call latticed total K-theory. A classification theorem is given in terms of such an invariant for a large class of separable C*-algebras of real rank zero arising from the extensions of finite and infinite C*-algebras. Many algebras with both finite and infinite projections can be classified.

Abstract:We provide an explicit computation of the topological $K$-theory groups $K_*(C_r^*(\mathbb{Z}^n\rtimes \mathbb{Z}/m))$ of semidirect products of the form $\mathbb{Z}^n\rtimes \mathbb{Z}Z/m$ with $m$ square-free. We want to highlight the fact that we are not impossing any conditions on the $\Z/m$-action on $\mathbb{Z}^n$. This generalizes previous computations of Lück-Davis and Langer-Lück.

Abstract:We discuss the relative K-theory for a $C^{*}$-algebra, $A$, together with a $C^{*}$-subalgebra, $A' \subseteq A$. The relative group is denoted $K_{i}(A';A), i = 0, 1$, and is due to Karoubi. We present a situation of two pairs $A' \subseteq A$ and $B' \subseteq B$ are related so that there is a natural isomorphism between their respective relative K-theories. We also discuss applications to the case where $A$ and $B$ are $C^{*}$-algebras of a pair of locally compact, Hausdorff topological groupoids, with Haar systems.

Abstract:The group scheme of universal centralizers of a complex reductive group G has a quantization called the spherical nil-DAHA. The category of modules over this ring is equivalent, as a symmetric monoidal category, to the category of bi-Whittaker D-modules on G. We construct a braided monoidal equivalence, called the Knop-Ngô functor, of this category with a full monoidal subcategory of the abelian category of Ad(G)-equivariant D-modules, establishing a D-module abelian counterpart of an equivalence established by Bezrukavnikov and Deshpande, in a different way. As an application of our methods, we prove conjectures of Ben-Zvi and Gunningham by relating this equivalence to parabolic induction and prove a conjecture of Braverman and Kazhdan in the D-module setting.
