Abstract:We investigate the K-theory of twisted higher-rank-graph algebras by adapting parts of Elliott's computation of the K-theory of the rotation algebras. We show that each 2-cocycle on a higher-rank graph taking values in an abelian group determines a continuous bundle of twisted higher-rank graph algebras over the dual group. We use this to show that for a circle-valued 2-cocycle on a higher-rank graph obtained by exponentiating a real-valued cocycle, the K-theory of the twisted higher-rank graph algebra coincides with that of the untwisted one.

Abstract:We use equivariant methods to define and study the orbifold K-theory of an orbifold X. Adapting techniques from equivariant K-theory, we construct a Chern character and exhibit a multiplicative decomposition for K * orb (X)⊗ℚ, in particular showing that it is additively isomorphic to the orbifold cohomology of X. A number of examples are provided. We then use the theory of projective representations to define the notion of twisted orbifold K–theory in the presence of discrete torsion. An explicit expression for this is obtained in the case of a global quotient.

Abstract:In this paper, a new invariant was built towards the classification of separable C*-algebras of real rank zero, which we call latticed total K-theory. A classification theorem is given in terms of such an invariant for a large class of separable C*-algebras of real rank zero arising from the extensions of finite and infinite C*-algebras. Many algebras with both finite and infinite projections can be classified.

Abstract:Given a simple, acyclic dimension group $G_{0}$ and countable, torsion-free, abelian group $G_{1}$, we construct a minimal, amenable, étale equivalence relation $R$ on a Cantor set whose associated groupoid $C^{*}$-algebra, $C^{*}(R)$, is tracially AF, and hence classifiable in the Elliott classification scheme for simple, amenable, separable $C^{*}$-algebras, and with $K_{*}(C^{*}(R)) \cong(G_{0}, G_{1})$.

Abstract:We discuss the relative K-theory for a $C^{*}$-algebra, $A$, together with a $C^{*}$-subalgebra, $A' \subseteq A$. The relative group is denoted $K_{i}(A';A), i = 0, 1$, and is due to Karoubi. We present a situation of two pairs $A' \subseteq A$ and $B' \subseteq B$ are related so that there is a natural isomorphism between their respective relative K-theories. We also discuss applications to the case where $A$ and $B$ are $C^{*}$-algebras of a pair of locally compact, Hausdorff topological groupoids, with Haar systems.

Abstract:Abstract In this paper, we exhibit two unital, separable, nuclear ‐algebras of stable rank one and real rank zero with the same ordered scaled total K‐theory, but they are not isomorphic with each other, which forms a counterexample to the Elliott Classification Conjecture for real rank zero setting. Thus, we introduce an additional normal condition and give a classification result in terms of the total K‐theory. For the general setting, with a new invariant, the total Cuntz semigroup [2], we classify a large class of ‐algebras obtained from extensions. The total Cuntz semigroup, which distinguishes the algebras of our counterexample, could possibly classify all the ‐algebras of stable rank one and real rank zero.

Abstract:We analyze topological invariants, in particular Z2 invariants, which characterize time reversal invariant topological insulators, in the framework of index theory and K-theory. After giving a careful study of the underlying geometry and K-theory, we formalize topological invariants as elements of KR theory. To be precise, the strong topological invariants lie in the higher KR groups of spheres; KR̃−j−1(SD+1,d). Here j is a KR-cycle index, as well as an index counting off the Altland-Zirnbauer classification of Time Reversal Symmetry (TRS) and Particle Hole Symmetry (PHS)—as we show. In this setting, the computation of the invariants can be seen as the evaluation of the natural pairing between KR-cycles and KR-classes. This fits with topological and analytical index computations as well as with Poincaré Duality and the Baum–Connes isomorphism for free Abelian groups. We provide an introduction starting from the basic objects of real, complex and quaternionic structures which are the mathematical objects corresponding to TRS and PHS. We furthermore detail the relevant bundles and K-theories (Real and Quaternionic) that lead to the classification as well as the topological setting for the base spaces.

Abstract:We compute the groupoid homology for the ample groupoids associated with algebraic actions from rings of algebraic integers and integral dynamics. We derive results for the homology of the topological full groups associated with rings of algebraic integers, and we use our groupoid homology calculation to compute the K-theory for ring C*-algebras of rings of algebraic integers, recovering the results of Cuntz and Li and of Li and Lück without using Cuntz--Li duality. Moreover, we compute the K-theory for C*-algebras attached to integral dynamics, resolving the conjecture by Barlak, Omland, and Stammeier in full generality.

Abstract:We show that the Bernoulli shift and the trivial action of a finite group $G$ on a UHF-algebra of infinite type are $KK^G$-equivalent and that the Bernoulli shift absorbs the trivial action up to conjugacy. As an application, we compute the $K$-theory of crossed products by approximately inner flips on classifiable $C^*$-algebras.

Abstract:We prove that for torsion-free amenable ample groupoids, an isomorphism in groupoid homology induced by an étale correspondence yields an isomorphism in the K-theory of the associated $\mathrm{C}^\ast$-algebras. We apply this to extend X. Li's K-theory formula for left regular inverse semigroup $\mathrm{C}^\ast$-algebras. These results are obtained by developing the functoriality of the ABC spectral sequence.

Abstract:We compute explicitly the K-groups of some boundary groupoid C*-algebras with exponential isotropy subgroups. Then we derive index formulas that computes the K-theoretic and Fredholm indexes of elliptic (respectively totally elliptic) pseudo-differential operators on these groupoids.

Abstract:Let G be a connected real reductive group. Orbit integrals define traces on the group algebra of G. We introduce a construction of higher orbit integrals in the direction of higher cyclic cocycles on the Harish-Chandra Schwartz algebra of G. We analyze these higher orbit integrals via Fourier transform by expressing them as integrals on the tempered dual of G. We obtain explicit formulas for the pairing between the higher orbit integrals and the K-theory of the reduced group C*-algebra, and discuss their applications to representation theory and K-theory.

Moreover, we show that this category is action representable, and that it contains a torsion theory whose torsion-free and torsion parts are given by the category of groups and by the category of Lie K-algebras, respectively.

Abstract:We establish conditions under which an inclusion of finitely aligned left-cancellative small categories induces inclusions of twisted C*-algebras. We also present an example of an inclusion of finitely aligned left-cancellative monoids that does not induce a homomorphism even between (untwisted) Toeplitz algebras. We prove that the twisted C*-algebras of a jointly faithful self-similar action of a countable discrete amenable groupoid on a row-finite k-graph with no sources, with respect to homotopic cocycles, have isomorphic K-theory.

Abstract:The subject of KCC theory is a second‐order ordinary differential equation, it is sometimes difficult to convert the high dimensional system into an equivalent second‐order system because of the analytical requirements of KCC theory. By means of the Euler‐Lagrange extension of a flow on a Riemannian manifold, this paper gives five geometric invariants of some three‐dimensional systems with great convenience, and focus on the analysis of two of them. The results show that the hyperbolic equilibria corresponding to the seven standard forms of three‐dimensional linear systems are Jacobi unstable. This is completely different from what we got before in two‐dimensional systems, where Jacobi stable and Jacobi unstable correspond to focus and node, respectively. All equilibria of classical Lü chaotic system and Yang‐Chen chaotic system are Jacobi unstable. Meanwhile, in three‐dimensional linear case, the torsion tensors at any point of the trajectory are identically equal to zero, but the two nonlinear systems have nonzero torsion tensors components.

Brauer-Wall Groups and Truncated Picard Spectra of $K$-theory

Abstract:We compute the first two k-invariants of the Picard spectra of $KU$ and $KO$ by analyzing their Picard groupoids and constructing their unit spectra as global sections of sheaves on the category of manifolds. This allows us to determine the E_\infty-structures of their truncations Pic(KU)[0,3] and Pic(KO)[0,2]. It follows that these truncated Picard spaces represent: the Brauer groups of Z/2-graded algebra bundles of Donovan-Karoubi, Moutuou and Maycock; the Brauer groups of super 2-lines; and the K-theory twists of Freed, Hopkins and Teleman. Our results also imply that that these spaces represent twists of String and Spin structures on manifolds and can be used to twist tmf-cohomology. Finally, we are able to identify pic(KU)[0,3] with a cotruncation of the Anderson dual of the sphere spectrum.
