The integration of the continuous function gives the growth of the Euler characteristic of the hermitian line bundle. It is the global version of the recent work of Nystrom.

Abstract:We explore algebro-geometric properties of the moduli space of holomorphic Lie algebroid ($ \mathcal{L} $) connections on a compact Riemann surface $X$ of genus $g \,\geq\, 3$. A smooth compactification of the moduli space of $\mathcal{L}$-connections, such that underlying vector bundle is stable, is constructed; the complement of the moduli space inside the compactification is a divisor. A criterion for the numerical effectiveness of the boundary divisor is given. We compute the Picard group of the moduli space, and analyze Lie algebroid Atiyah bundles associated with an ample line bundle. This enables us to conclude that regular functions on the space of certain Lie algebroid connections are constants. Moreover, under some condition, it is shown that the moduli space of $\mathcal{L}$-connections does not admit non-constant algebraic functions. Rationally connectedness of the moduli spaces is explored.

In this paper, we generalize the existence theorem of special divisors to high dimensional indecomposable vector bundles. We give a necessary and sufficient condition on the existence ofn-dimensional indecomposable vector bundlesE onX with det(E)=d, dimH0(X,E)≥h. We also determine under what condition the set of all such vector bundles will be finite and how many elements it contains.

Abstract:In this paper we investigate line bundles on $\mathrm{Bun}_{\mathcal{G}}$ the moduli stack of parahoric Bruhat--Tits bundles over a smooth projective curve. Translating this problem into one concerning twisted conformal blocks, we are able to establish criteria that detect when line bundles on an appropriate flag variety descend to $\mathrm{Bun}_{\mathcal{G}}$. Along the way we establish a conjecture of Pappas and Rapoport which describes sections of line bundles on $\mathrm{Bun}_{\mathcal{G}}$ using representation-theoretical means. We conclude the paper with examples where our methods allow us to explicitly determine the Picard group of $\mathrm{Bun}_{\mathcal{G}}$.

Brill-Noether theory on the projective plane for bundles with many sections

Abstract:The Brill-Noether theory of curves plays a fundamental role in the theory of curves and their moduli and has been intensively studied since the 19th century. In contrast, Brill-Noether theory for higher dimensional varieties is less understood. It is hard to determine when Brill-Noether loci are nonempty and these loci can be reducible and of larger than the expected dimension. Let $E$ be a semistable sheaf on the projective plane. In this paper, we give an upper bound for $h^0(E)$ in terms of the rank $r$ and the slope $\mu$ of $E$. We show that the bound is achieved precisely when $E$ is a twist of a Steiner bundle. We classify the sheaves $E$ such that $h^0(E)$ is sufficiently close to the upper bound. We determine the nonemptiness, irreducibility and dimension of the Brill-Noether loci in the moduli spaces of sheaves with $h^0(E)$ in this range. When they are nonempty, these Brill-Noether loci are irreducible though almost always of larger than the expected dimension.

Abstract:A Hopf bundle, whose base manifold is the ring surface T2 and whose fiber is the group U(1), is established in this paper. On this Hopf bundle, the lifting of the Laplace operator on the base manifold is proved to be the Laplace operator on the Hopf bundle. The solutions of covariant derivative equations of cross section in associated bundles and the index theorem on the ring surface are also discussed.

Abstract:In this paper, we studied the map defined by a non-very ample line bundle on some special irregular varieties. As to this topic, it is well known that for a line bundle $L$ on an Abelian variety $A$, the linear system $|2L|$ is base point free, and 3L is very ample, moreover the map defined by the linear system $|2L|$ is well understood (cf. Theorem \ref{oldth}). First, we generalized this classical result to projective bundles over Abelian varieties (cf. Theorem \ref{key}). Then we studied the bicanonical map of an irregular primitive variety $X$ of general type with $dim(X) = q(X)$, in fact we got a relation between the map and the reducibility of a divisor.

Higher Dimensional Brill-Noether Loci and Moduli for Very Ample Line Bundles

Abstract:In this paper, we study Brill-Noether loci for higher dimensional varieties. Let $M$ be a moduli space of coherent sheaves on $X$. The Brill-Noether loci of $M$ are the closed subsets $\{\mathcal{F} \in M : h^0(X,\mathcal{F}) \geq k+1\}$. When $X$ is a smooth curve and $M = \textbf{Pic}_X^d$, the space of degree $d$ line bundles on $X$, the Brill-Noether loci have a natural determinantal scheme structure coming from a map of vector bundles on $\textbf{Pic}_X^d$, which is the main tool in studying their geometry. In [CMR10], the authors generalize this to the case where $X$ is any variety and $M$ is the moduli space of stable vector bundles on $X$ with fixed invariants but require that $H^i(X,E) = 0$ for all $E \in M$ and $i \geq 2$. We generalize these results by showing how to give a natural determinantal scheme structure to the Brill-Noether loci for any $X$ and any $M$. In doing so we develop the theory of Fitting ideals for a complex which can be used to define natural scheme structures in other cases as well, such as the locus of points where the projective dimension of a coherent sheaf jumps up. As an application of our results, we construct moduli spaces for very ample line bundles on a variety.

Abstract:Let $X$ be a compact connected Riemann surface of genus $g$, with $g\, \geq\,2$, and let $\xi$ be a holomorphic line bundle on $X$ with $\xi^{\otimes 2}\,=\, {\mathcal O}_X$. Fix a theta characteristic $\mathbb L$ on $X$. Let ${\mathcal M}_X(r,\xi)$ be the moduli space of stable vector bundles $E$ on $X$ of rank $r$ such that $\bigwedge^r E\,=\, \xi$ and $H^0(X,\, E\otimes{\mathbb L})\,=\, 0$. Consider the quotient of ${\mathcal M}_X(r,\xi)$ by the involution given by $E\, \longmapsto\, E^*$. We construct an algebraic morphism from this quotient to the moduli space of ${\rm SL}(r,{\mathbb C})$ opers on $X$. Since $\dim {\mathcal M}_X(r,\xi)$ coincides with the dimension of the moduli space of ${\rm SL}(r,{\mathbb C})$ opers, it is natural to ask about the injectivity and surjectivity of this map.

Abstract:We introduce a new method to study mixed characteristic deformation of line bundles. In particular, for sufficiently large smooth projective families $f : \mathcal{X} \to \mathcal{S}$ defined over the ring of $N$-integers $\mathcal{O}_{L}[1/N]$ of a number field $L$, we produce a proper closed subscheme $\mathcal{E} \subsetneq \mathcal{S}$ outside of which all line bundles appearing in positive characteristic fibres of $f$ admit characteristic zero lifts. This in particular applies to elliptic surfaces over $\mathbb{P}^1$ and projective hypersurfaces in $\mathbb{P}^3$ of degree $d \geq 5$. We also study the locus in $\mathcal{E}$ in more detail in the $h^{0, 2} = 2$ case.

Abstract:We give an explicit formula for Euler characteristics of line bundles on the Hilbert scheme of points on $\mathbb{P}^1\times\mathbb{P}^1$. Combined with structural results of Ellingsrud, Göttsche, and Lehn, this determines the Euler characteristic of any line bundle on the Hilbert scheme of points on any smooth, projective surface. We also give an enumerative description of the dimensions of spaces of global sections of ample line bundles on Hilbert schemes of points on Hirzebruch surfaces, extending the polytope-line bundle correspondence on the underlying toric surface.

Abstract:Let G be a semi-simple simply connected algebraic group over an algebraically closed field k of arbitrary characteristic. Let B be a Borel subgroup of G containing a maximal torus T of G . Let W be the Weyl group of G with respect to T . For an arbitrary sequence w=(si1,si2,...,sir) of simple reflections in W , let Zw be the Bott-Samelson-Demazure-Hansen variety (BSDH-variety for short) corresponding to w . Let Zw ̃:=G×BZw denote the fibre bundle on G/B whose fibre over B/B is Zw . In this article, we give necessary and sufficient conditions for the varieties Zw and Zw ̃ to be Fano (weak-Fano). We show that a line bundle on Zw is globally generated if and only if it is nef. We show that the Picard group Pic(Zw ̃) is free abelian and we construct a O(1) -basis. We characterize the nef, globally generated, ample and very ample line bundles on Zw ̃ in terms of the O(1) -basis.

A Note on Spherical Bundles on K3 Surfaces

Abstract:Some questions are posted at the end of Chapter 16 of Huybrechts' book 'Lectures on K3 Surfaces', concerning the bounded derived category of a K3 surface $D^b(S)$. Let $E$ be a spherical object in $D^b(S)$. The first question asks if there always exists a non-zero object $F$ satisfying RHom$(E,F)=0$. Further, let $E$ be a spherical bundle. The second question is whether $E$ is always semistable with respect to some polarization on $S$ and if there is a way to `count' spherical bundles with a fixed Mukai vector. In this note, we provide (partial) answers to these two questions. In the appendix, Genki Ouchi shows that any spherical twist associated to an $n$-spherical object on a smooth projective $n$-dimensional variety is not conjugate to a standard autoequivalence.

Abstract:In earlier work (Marinescu and Savale in Math Ann. https://doi.org/10.1007/s00208-023-02750-3, 2023) the authors proved the Bergman kernel expansion for semi-positive line bundles over a Riemann surface whose curvature vanishes to at most finite order at each point. Here we explore the related results and consequences of the expansion in the semi-positive case including: Tian's approximation theorem for induced Fubini-Study metrics, leading-order asymptotics and composition for Toeplitz operators, asymptotics of zeroes for random sections, and the asymptotics of holomorphic torsion.

Abstract:This paper provides some technical results needed in "Formalism for Relative Gromov-Witten Invariants." We study line-bundles on the moduli stacks of relative stable and rubber maps that are used to define relative Gromov-Witten invariants in the sense of J. Li. Relations between these line-bundles yield degeneration formulae. In addition we prove a technical result called the Trivial Cylinders Theorem.

The space $J^k(t_0, \mathbb{P}^1)$ of $k$-jets at $t_0$ of $C^{\infty}$ maps from $S^1$ to the Riemann sphere $\mathbb{P}^1$ is a $k+1$ dimensional complex algebraic manifold. We identify a class of holomorphic sections of line bundles on $J^k(t_0, \mathbb{P}^1)$.

Abstract:Let $X$ be a compact connected Riemann surface of genus $g \geq 3$ and $S \rightarrow X$ a $2:1$ branched covering defined by a generic quadratic differential on $X$. In the following notes, we explore how taking direct images of line bundles defined by certain distinguished special divisors on $S$ gives rank-2 bundles having nilpotent Higgs fields on $X$. The key ingredient is the notion of Baker-Akhiezer divisors associated to Higgs bundles and choices of subbundles of the underlying rank-2 bundles.

Abstract:Let S be a compact Riemann surface (holomorphic curve) of genus g. Let p1; p2; . . . ; ps be s > 0 points on it; these points define a divisor, and we denote the open Riemann surface Snfp1; . . . ; psg by S. When 3g 3 þ s > 0, it carries a complete hyperbolic metric of finite volume, the so-called Poincaré metric; the points p1; p2; . . . ; ps then become cusps at infinity. Even in the remaining cases, that is, for a once or twice punctured sphere, we can equip S with a metric that is hyperbolic in the vicinity of the cusp(s), and for our purposes, the behavior of the metric there is all what counts, and we call such a metric Poincaré-like. In any case, our metric on S is denoted by o. Denote the inclusion map of S in S by j. Let r : p1ðSÞ ! Glðn;CÞ be a semisimple linear representation of p1ðSÞ which is unipotent near the cusps (for the precise definition, cf. §2.4). Corresponding to such a representation r, one has a local system Lr over S and a r-equivariant harmonic map h : S ! Glðn;CÞ=UðnÞ with a certain special growth condition near the divisor, which is especially of finite energy (for details, see §2.4). For the present case of complex dimension 1, this is actually elementary; it also follows from the general result of [11]. We also remark that if not imposing any growth condition, r-equivariant harmonic maps are not unique in general, even of infinite energy (cf. [13]). In order to see explicitly the behavior at the cusps of the harmonic map h used in this note, we explicitly construct an initial map, which has the required asymptotic behavior, and show why it has finite energy. Then the existence of the harmonic map h and its behavior are obtained in a standard manner presently. It should be pointed out that the construction here is essentially the same as that in [11]; but the target manifolds of [11] are very general, so the construction there was getting very complicated. The idea of the explicit construction here will also be used in the case of higher dimension. The harmonic map h obtained above can be considered as a Hermitian metric on Lr—harmonic metric—so that we have a so-called harmonic bundle ðLr; hÞ [23]. Such a bundle carries interesting structures, e.g. a Higgs bundle structure ðE; yÞ, where y 1⁄4 qh, and it has a log-singularity at the divisor.

Abstract:Let $X$ be a complex surface obtained as the quotient of the complex Euclidean space $\mathbb{C}^2$ by a discrete subgroup of rank $3$. We investigate the cohomology group $H_0^1(X, E)$ with compact support for a unitary flat line bundle $E$ over $X$. We show the vanishing of $H_0^1(X, E)$ for a certain class of such pairs $(X, E)$, which includes infinitely many examples such that $H^1(X, E)$ is non-Hausdorff and infinite dimensional.
