Abstract:The conformai properties of complex Finsler metrics are studied. We first give a characterization of a compact complex Finsler manifold to be globally conformai Kahler. By considering the total holomorphic curvature and total Ricci curvature in the volume preserved conformal classes, we then study the variational properties of Kahler Finsler metrics. By studying the spectral properties of two average metrics, the stabilities of critical Kähler Finsler metrics are verified. Finally, a Yamabe type problem for mean holomorphic Ricci curvature is considered, and a partial existence result is obtained.
On the c-k constrained KP and BKP hierarchies: the Fermionic pictures, solutions and additional symmetries

Abstract:In this paper, we study two generalized constrained integrable hierarchies, which are called the $c$-$k$ constrained KP and BKP hierarchies. The Fermionic picture of the $c$-$k$ constrained KP hierarchy is given. We give some solutions for the $c$-$k$ constrained KP hierarchy by using the free Fermion operators and define its additional symmetries. Its additional flows form a subalgebra of the Virasoro algebra. Furthermore, the additional flows acting on eigenfunctions $q_{i}(t)$ and adjoint eigenfunctions $r_{i}(t)$ of the $c$-$k$ constrained KP hierarchy are presented. Next, we define the $c$-$k$ constrained BKP hierarchy and obtain its bilinear identity and solutions. The algebra formed by the additional symmetric flow of the $c$-$k$ constrained BKP hierarchy that we defined is still a subalgebra of the Virasoro algebra and it is a subalgebra of the algebra formed by the additional flows of the $c$-$k$ constrained KP hierarchy.

Abstract:We present some general results on properties of the bihamiltonian cohomologies associated to bihamiltonian structures of hydrodynamic type, and compute the third cohomology for the bihamiltonian structure of the dispersionless KdV hierarchy. The result of the computation enables us to prove the existence of bihamiltonian deformations of the dispersionless KdV hierarchy starting from any of its infinitesimal deformations.

Abstract:We give a matrix formulation of the Hamiltonian structures of constrained KP hierarchy. First, we derive from the matrix formulation the Hamiltonian structure of the one-constraint KP hierarchy, which was originally obtained by Oevel and Strampp. We then generalize the derivation to the multi-constraint case and show that the resulting bracket is actually the second Gelfand-Dickey bracket associated with the corresponding Lax operator. The matrix formulation of the Hamiltonian structure of the one-constraint KP hierarchy in the form introduced in the study of matrix model is also discussed

Abstract:An explanation for the so-called constrained hierarhies is presented by linking them with the symmetries of the KP hierarchy. While the existence of ordinary symmetries (belonging to the hierarchy) allows one to reduce the KP hierarchy to the KdV hierarchies, the existence of additional symmetries allows to reduce KP to the constrained KP.

Abstract:We study the conformal properties of the multi-constraint KP hierarchy and its nonstandard partner by covariantizing their corresponding Lax operators. The associated second Hamiltonian structures turn out to be nonlocal extension of $W_n$ algebra by some integer or half-integer spin fields depending on the order of the Lax operators. In particular, we show that the complicated second Hamiltonian structure of the nonstandard multi-constraint KP hierarchy can be simplified by factorizing its Lax operator to multiplication form. We then diagonalize this simplified Poisson matrix and obtain the free-field realizations of its associated nonlocal algebras.

Abstract:In this paper we study a class of (1 + 1)-dimensional integrable systems called the k-constrained KP hierarchy. We first show by using the Wronskian technique that the first flow of the 2-constrained KP hierarchy possesses solutions in generalized double Wronskian form; then we give a conjecture on the Wronskian structure for solutions of the general k-constrained KP hierarchy.

Abstract:A class of (1+1)-dimensional integrable systems which are constrained from the Kadomtsev–Petviashvili (KP) hierarchy is studied. The bilinear equations of these integrable systems are shown first, and then by using the free fermion operators their rational and soliton solutions which are closely related to the τ functions of the KP hierarchy are obtained. The result implies that a large family of solutions of the (2+1)-dimensional KP hierarchy can be obtained by solving these (1+1)-dimensional integrable systems; in particular, the N-soliton solutions of the KP hierarchy can be deduced from the soliton solutions of these (1+1)-dimensional integrable systems.

Abstract:The Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (KP) hierarchy has infinitely many Hamiltonian pairs, the n(th) pair of them is associated with L(n), where L is the pseudodifferential operator (PDO) [3, 4]. In this paper, by the factorization L(n) = L(n) ... L(1) with L(j), j = 1,...,n being the independent PDOs, we construct the Miura transformation for the KP, which leads to a decomposition of the second Hamiltonian structure in the n(th) pair to a direct sum. Each term in the sum is the second structure in the initial pair associated with L(j). When we impose a constraint (1.9) (i.e. a new type of reduction) to the KP hierarchy, we obtain the similar results for the constrained KP hierarchy. In particular the second Hamiltonian structure for this hierarchy is transformed to a vastly simpler one.

Abstract:We construct a local tri-Hamiltonian structure of the Ablowitz-Ladik hierarchy, and compute the central invariants of the associated bihamiltonian structures. We show that the central invariants of one of the bihamiltonian structures are equal to 1/24, and the dispersionless limit of this bihamiltonian structure coincides with the one that is defined on the jet space of the Frobenius manifold associated with the Gromov-Witten invariants of local CP1. This result provides support for the validity of Brini's conjecture on the relation of these Gromov-Witten invariants with the Ablowitz-Ladik hierarchy.

Abstract:A special chain of the gauge transformations of the two-component constrained KP is introduced, and then the transformed components and the τ-function of this hierarchy are presented. Based on this, by the different reductions, the gauge transformations of the constrained BKP and the constrained CKP hierarchies are obtained. Furthermore, the transformed component functions and τ-functions of them are expressed by the determinants with the help of the determinant representation of the gauge transformation operators.

Abstract:We give a unified description of our recent results on the the inter-relationship between the integrable infinite KP hierarchy, nonlinear $\hat{W}_{\infty}$ current algebra and conformal noncompact $SL(2,R)/U(1)$ coset model both at the classical and quantum levels. In particular, we present the construction of a quantum version of the KP hierarchy by deforming the second KP Hamiltonian structure through quantizing the $SL(2,R)_k/U(1)$ model and constructing an infinite set of commuting quantum $\hat{W}_{\infty}$ charges (at least at $k$=1).

Abstract:The additional symmetries of the constrained CKP (cCKP) and BKP (cBKP) hierarchies are given by their actions on the Lax operators, and their actions on the eigenfunction and adjoint eigenfunction {Φ i , Ψ i } are presented explicitly. Furthermore, we show that acting on the space of the wave operator, ∂ k * forms new centerless W 1=∞ cC and W 1+∞ cB W 1+∞ cB -subalgebra of centerless W 1+∞ respectively. In order to define above symmetry flows ∂ k * of the cCKP and cBKP hierarchies, two vital operators Y k are introduced to revise the additional symmetry flows of the CKP and BKP hierarchies.

Abstract:For the Kadomtsev–Petviashvili (KP) hierarchy constructed in terms of the famous Sato theory, a ‘‘k constraint’’ is proposed that leads the hierarchy to the nonlinear system involving a finite number of dynamical coordinates. The eigenvalue problem of the k-constrained system is naturally obtained from the linear system of the KP hierarchy, which takes the form of kth-order polynomial coupled with a first-order one, thus we are able to derive the correspondent Lax pair, recursion operator, bi-Hamiltonian structures, and conserved quantities. The constraints for the BKP hierarchy are also sketched.

Abstract:We apply the gauge transformations (differential type) and (integral type) to study the discrete mKP hierarchies. We prove that and can be commutative and the product of and satisfies the Sato equation. By means of gauge transformations, we arrive at the necessary and sufficient condition for reducing the generalized Wronskian solutions to constrained hierarchies. Finally, we give an example in the Appendix.

By introducing a class of generalized Hamiltonian structures, we present in a natural way the transformation formulae of the Hamiltonian structures of the hierarchy under certain reciprocal transformations, and prove the validity of the formulae at the level of dispersionless limit.
