Abstract:We obtain the bi-Hamiltonian structure of the super KP hierarchy based on the even super KP operator $\Lambda = \theta^{2} + \sum^{\infty}_{i=-2}U_{i} \theta^{-i-1}$, as a supersymmetric extension of the ordinary KP bi-Hamiltonian structure. It is expected to give rise to a universal super $W$-algebra incorporating all known extended superconformal $W_{N}$ algebras by reduction. We also construct the super BKP hierarchy by imposing a set of anti-self-dual constraints on the super KP hierarchy.

Abstract:The Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (KP) hierarchy has infinitely many Hamiltonian pairs, the n(th) pair of them is associated with L(n), where L is the pseudodifferential operator (PDO) [3, 4]. In this paper, by the factorization L(n) = L(n) ... L(1) with L(j), j = 1,...,n being the independent PDOs, we construct the Miura transformation for the KP, which leads to a decomposition of the second Hamiltonian structure in the n(th) pair to a direct sum. Each term in the sum is the second structure in the initial pair associated with L(j). When we impose a constraint (1.9) (i.e. a new type of reduction) to the KP hierarchy, we obtain the similar results for the constrained KP hierarchy. In particular the second Hamiltonian structure for this hierarchy is transformed to a vastly simpler one.

Abstract:We present a new form of the multi-boson reduction of KP hierarchy with Lax operator written in terms of boson fields abelianizing the second Hamiltonian structure. This extends the classical Miura transformation and the Kupershmidt-Wilson theorem from the (m)KdV to the KP case. A remarkable relationship is uncovered between the higher Hamiltonian structures and the corresponding Miura transformations of KP hierarchy, on one hand, and the discrete integrable models living on {\em refinements} of the original lattice connected with the underlying multi-matrix models, on the other hand. For the second KP Hamiltonian structure, worked out in details, this amounts to finding a series of representations of the nonlinear $\hWinf$ algebra in terms of arbitrary finite number of canonical pairs of free fields.

Abstract:We introduce a Frobenius algebra-valued KP hierarchy and show the existence of Frobenius algebra-valued $\tau$-function for this hierarchy. In addition we construct its Hamiltonian structures by using the Adler-Dickey-Gelfand method. As a byproduct of these constructions, we show that the coupled KP hierarchy defined by <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://P.Casati" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a> and <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://G.Ortenzi" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a> in \cite{CO2006} has at least $n$-``basic" different local bi-Hamiltonian structures. Finally, via the construction of the second Hamiltonian structures, we obtain some local matrix, or Frobenius algebra-valued, generalizations of classical $W$-algebras.

Abstract:The r -KdV–CH hierarchy is a generalization of the Korteweg–de Vries and Camassa–Holm hierarchies parameterized by r + 1 constants. In this paper we clarify some properties of its multi-Hamiltonian structures including the explicit expressions of the Hamiltonians, the formulae of the central invariants of the associated bihamiltonian structures and the relationship of these bihamiltonian structures with Frobenius manifolds. By introducing a class of generalized Hamiltonian structures, we present in a natural way the transformation formulae of the Hamiltonian structures of the hierarchy under certain reciprocal transformations, and prove the validity of the formulae at the level of dispersionless limit.

Abstract:This, to a large extent, expository paper, describes the theory of multicomponent hierarchies of evolution equations of XKP type, where X=A, B, C or D, and AKP=KP, and their reductions, associated to the conjugacy classes of the Weyl groups of classical Lie algebras of type X. As usual, the main tool is the multicomponent boson-fermion correspondence, which leads to the corresponding tau-functions, wave functions, dressing operators and Lax operators.

Abstract:We show that any multi-component matrix KP hierarchy is equivalent to the standard one-component (scalar) KP hierarchy endowed with a special infinite set of abelian additional symmetries, generated by squared eigenfunction potentials. This allows to employ a special version of the familiar Darboux-B"acklund transformation techniques within the ordinary scalar KP hierarchy in the Sato formulation for a systematic derivation of explicit multiple-Wronskian tau-function solutions of all multi-component matrix KP hierarchies.

Abstract:Bigraded Toda hierarchy $L_1^M(n)=L_2^N(n)$ is generalized to $L_1^M(n)=L_2^{N}(n)+\sum_{j\in \mathbb Z}\sum_{i=1}^{m}q^{(i)}_n\Lambda^jr^{(i)}_{n+1}$, which is the analogue of the famous constrained KP hierarchy $L^{k}= (L^{k})_{\geq0}+\sum_{i=1}^{m}q_{i}\partial^{-1}r_i$. It is known that different bosonizations of fermionic KP hierarchy will give rise to different kinds of integrable hierarchies. Starting from the fermionic form of constrained KP hierarchy, bilinear equation of this generalized bigraded Toda hierarchy (GBTH) are derived by using 2--component boson--fermion correspondence. Next based upon this, the Lax structure of GBTH is obtained. Conversely, we also derive bilinear equation of GBTH from the corresponding Lax structure.

A KP-mKP Hierarchy via Operators with Two Derivations

Abstract:By using pseudo-differential operators containing two derivations, we extend the Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (KP) hierarchy to a certain KP-mKP hierarchy. For the KP-mKP hierarchy, we obtain its Bäcklund transformations, bilinear equations of Baker-Akhiezer functions and Hirota equations of tau functions. Moreover, we show that this hierarchy is equivalent to a subhierarchy of the dispersive Whitham hierarchy associated to the Riemann sphere with its infinity point and one movable point marked.

Abstract:We give a matrix formulation of the Hamiltonian structures of constrained KP hierarchy. First, we derive from the matrix formulation the Hamiltonian structure of the one-constraint KP hierarchy, which was originally obtained by Oevel and Strampp. We then generalize the derivation to the multi-constraint case and show that the resulting bracket is actually the second Gelfand-Dickey bracket associated with the corresponding Lax operator. The matrix formulation of the Hamiltonian structure of the one-constraint KP hierarchy in the form introduced in the study of matrix model is also discussed

Abstract:In this paper, we study two generalized constrained integrable hierarchies, which are called the $c$-$k$ constrained KP and BKP hierarchies. The Fermionic picture of the $c$-$k$ constrained KP hierarchy is given. We give some solutions for the $c$-$k$ constrained KP hierarchy by using the free Fermion operators and define its additional symmetries. Its additional flows form a subalgebra of the Virasoro algebra. Furthermore, the additional flows acting on eigenfunctions $q_{i}(t)$ and adjoint eigenfunctions $r_{i}(t)$ of the $c$-$k$ constrained KP hierarchy are presented. Next, we define the $c$-$k$ constrained BKP hierarchy and obtain its bilinear identity and solutions. The algebra formed by the additional symmetric flow of the $c$-$k$ constrained BKP hierarchy that we defined is still a subalgebra of the Virasoro algebra and it is a subalgebra of the algebra formed by the additional flows of the $c$-$k$ constrained KP hierarchy.

Abstract:It is known that second Hamiltonian structures of the KP hierarchy are parameterized by a continuous complex parameter q and correspond to the W-infinite algebra of W-KP((q)). In this Letter, by constructing a Miura map, we first show a generalized decomposition theorem to the second Hamiltonian structures and then establish a relation between those structures which corresponds to values (q + 1) and q of the parameter, respectively. This discussion also gives a better understanding to the structures of W-KP((q)) its reduced (W) over cap(infinity)((q)) algebras, and their free fields realizations.

Abstract:The $(n,m)^{\th}$ KdV hierarchy is a restriction of the KP hierarchy to a submanifold of pseudo-differential operators in a radio form. Explicit formula of the restricted Hamiltonian structure of KP is given which provides a new, more constructive proof of the isomorphism between the associated $W(n,m)$-algebra to $W_{n+m}\oplus W_m\oplus U(1)$ algebra, and the Hamiltonian property of the $(n,m)^{\th}$ KdV hierarchy as well as its Lax-Manakov triad representation. Similarly the Hamiltonian property for a version of modified $n^{\th}$ KdV and the isomorphism between $W_n$-algebra to $W_l\oplus W_m\oplus U(1)$ algebra are shown, where $l+m=n$. The role of U(1) current in both cases is also explained.

Abstract:For the Kadomtsev–Petviashvili (KP) hierarchy constructed in terms of the famous Sato theory, a ‘‘k constraint’’ is proposed that leads the hierarchy to the nonlinear system involving a finite number of dynamical coordinates. The eigenvalue problem of the k-constrained system is naturally obtained from the linear system of the KP hierarchy, which takes the form of kth-order polynomial coupled with a first-order one, thus we are able to derive the correspondent Lax pair, recursion operator, bi-Hamiltonian structures, and conserved quantities. The constraints for the BKP hierarchy are also sketched.

Abstract:Starting from a discrete spectral problem, we derive a hierarchy of nonlinear discrete equations which includes the Ablowitz–Ladik hierarchy and a new hierarchy as special cases. Especially, we investigate in detail the integrability and resolvability of the new hierarchy. It is shown that the new hierarchy is integrable in Liouville’s sense and possesses multi-Hamiltonian structure. A Darboux transformation is established for a typical discrete system in the new hierarchy with the help of the gauge transformation of its Lax pair. As applications of the Darboux transformation, new exact solutions of the discrete system are explicitly given.
