Abstract:This paper proves existence of a global weak solution to the inhomogeneous (i.e., non-constant density) incompressible Navier–Stokes system with mass diffusion. The system is well-known as the Kazhikhov–Smagulov model. The major novelty of the paper is to deal with the Kazhikhov–Smagulov model possessing the non-constant viscosity without any simplification of higher order nonlinearity. Every global weak solution is shown to have a long time behavior that is consistent with mixing phenomena of miscible fluids. The results also contain a new compactness method of Aubin–Lions–Simon type.

Abstract:This paper deals with a mathematical fluid-particle interaction model used to describing the evolution of particles dispersed in a viscous compressible non-Newtonian fluid. It is proved that the initial boundary value problems with vacuum admits a unique local strong solution in the dimensional case. The strong nonlinearity of the system brings us difficulties due to the fact that the viscosity term and non-Newtonian gravitational potential term are fully nonlinear.

Abstract:We are concerned with the Cauchy problem to the three-dimensional full compressible Navier–Stokes equations with zero heat conductivity. Under the condition that the initial energy is small enough, global existence of strong solutions is established. Especially, the initial density is allowed to have large oscillations. The key to estimate the pointwise lower and upper bounds of the density lies in the handling of the energy conservation equation and the boundedness of the –norm of the gradient of the pressure.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider a two-dimensional non-resistive magnetohydrodynamic model, taking the fluctuation of absolute temperature into account. Combining the method of weak convergence developed by Lions [20], Feireisl et al. [7, 8] from compressible Navier-Stokes(- Fourier) system and the new technique of variable reduction proposed by Vasseur et al. [26] and refined by Novotny et al. [22] from compressible two-fluid models, weak solutions are shown to exist globally in time with finite energy initial data. The result is the first one on global solvability to full compressible, viscous, non-resistive magnetohydrodynamic system in multi-dimensions with large initial data.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the initial-boundary value problems of the compressible isentropic Navier-Stokes equations with density-dependent viscosity on two dimensional solid balls which was first introduced by Kazhikhov where shear viscosity $\mu$ is assumed to be constant and the bulk viscosity $\lambda$ is a polynomial of density up to power $\beta$. Under the condition of $\beta>1$, we prove the global existence of the radially symmetric strong solutions to the Kazhikhov models under Dirichlet boundary conditions for arbitrary large initial smooth data. Moreover, the density is shown to be uniformly bounded with respect to time when $\beta\in (\max\{1,\frac{\gamma+2}{4}\},\gamma]$. This improves the previous result of \cite{2016Huang,2022Huang} for general 2D domains where they require $\beta>4/3$ to ensure global existence and is the first result concerning the global existence of classical solutions to the radially symmetric compressible Navier-Stokes equations in 2D solid balls under Dirichlet boundary condition.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove the global existence of strong solutions to the two-dimensional compressible MHD equations with density dependent viscosity coefficients (known as Kazhikhov-Vaigant model) on 2D solid balls with arbitrary large initial smooth data where shear viscosity $\mu$ being constant and the bulk viscosity $\lambda$ be a polynomial of density up to power $\beta$. The global existence of the radially symmetric strong solutions was established under Dirichlet boundary conditions for $\beta>1$. Moreover, as long as $\beta\in (\max\{1,\frac{\gamma+2}{4}\},\gamma]$, the density is shown to be uniformly bounded with respect to time. This generalizes the previous result of \cite{2022Li,2016Huang,2022Huang} of the compressible Navier-Stokes equations on 2D bounded domains where they require $\beta>4/3$ and also improves the result of \cite{chen2022,2015Mei-1,2015Mei-2} of compressible MHD equations on 2D solid balls.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate existence of global-in-time strong solutions to the kinetic Cucker--Smale model coupled with the Stokes equations in the whole space. By introducing a weighted Sobolev space and using space-time estimates for the linear non-stationary Stokes equations, we present a complete analysis on existence of global-in-time strong solutions to the coupled model, without any smallness requirements on initial data.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider a fluid-particle interaction model for the evolution of particles dispersed in a fluid. The fluid flow is governed by the Navier-Stokes equations for a compressible fluid while the evolution of the particle densities is given by the Smoluchowski equation. The coupling between the dispersed and dense phases is obtained through the drag forces that the fluid and the particles exert mutually. We establish the existence and uniqueness of a global classical solution, the existence of weak solutions, and the existence of a unique strong solution of this system in 1D for initial data ρ0 without vacuum states.

Abstract:We consider the compressible Navier-Stokes system where the viscosity depends on density and the heat conductivity is proportional to a positive power of the temperature under stress-free and thermally insulated boundary conditions. Under the same conditions on the initial data as those of the constant viscosity and heat conductivity case ([Kazhikhov-Shelukhin. J. Appl. Math. Mech. 41 (1977)], we obtain the existence and uniqueness of global strong solutions. Our result can be regarded as a natural generalization of the Kazhikhov's theory for the constant heat conductivity case to the degenerate and nonlinear one under stress-free and thermally insulated boundary conditions.

Abstract:This paper is dedicated to the study of the inviscid liquid-gas two-phase flow model in $\mathbb{R}^d\ (d\geq1)$. We establish the global existence of strong solutions to this system with small initial data in hybrid Besov spaces based on general $L^p$-norms. Additionally, we obtain the decay estimates of solutions rely on the constructed Lyapunov functional.

Abstract:We study a kinetic-fluid model in a \begin{document}$ 3D $\end{document} bounded domain. More precisely, this model is a coupling of the Vlasov-Fokker-Planck equation with the local alignment force and the compressible Navier-Stokes equations with nonhomogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition. We prove the global existence of weak solutions to it for the isentropic fluid (adiabatic coefficient \begin{document}$ \gamma> 3/2 $\end{document} ) and hence extend the existence result of Choi and Jung [Asymptotic analysis for a Vlasov-Fokker-Planck/Navier-Stokes system in a bounded domain, arXiv: 1912.13134v2], where the velocity of the fluid is supplemented with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition.
