A Projective Led Low-Beam Headlamp Of Motorbikes

Abstract:In this paper we propose a projective LED low-beam headlamp of motorbikes. An ellipsoidal reflector is used to collect light emitting from the LED source. A baffle plate is located in the focal point of the ellipsoidal reflector to form the cut-off line. Then the light is redistributed by an optical lens. We set the measuring screen as an semi-circular zone and divide it into many small lattices, divide the spatial angle of the LED source into many parts and make relationships between them. According to the conservation of energy and Snell law, the lens is generated by freeform optics design method. Then the optical system is simulated by Monte Carlo method using ASAP software. Light pattern of simulation could meet the national standard. The low-beam headlamp is finally fabricated and assembled into a physical object. Experiment results can fully comply with regulations GB5948-1998.
Freeform Led Lens For Uniform Illumination

Abstract:Light flux from LED must be redistributed to meet the needs of lighting in most cases, a new method is proposed for its secondary optic design. Based on refractive equation and energy conservation, a set of first-order partial differential equations which represent the characters of LED source and desired illumination were presented. The freeform lens was constructed by solving these equations numerically. The numerical results showed that we can get a freeform lens for the illumination of uniformity near to 90%, with considerable high computation speed. This method can shorten the designing time of the freeform lens with high accepted tolerance. (C) 2007 Optical Society of America.

Abstract:To eliminate the rainbow phenomenon of white LED sources caused by optical dispersion in a motorcar's headlamp with a thick lens, we propose an LED high-beam headlamp based on free-form microlenses. The free-form microlenses include total reflection surfaces, which collimate the beams emitting from the LED source, and microlens structures, which redistribute the collimated beams to the target plane. We optimize the map relationship between the LED source and the illumination plane according to ECE regulation R112. Simulation and experiment results show that our proposed free-form microlenses could efficiently distribute light radiated from the LED source. All illumination on the test points and zones could reach ECE regulation R112. There is little dispersion in the light pattern in the target plane. (C) 2014 Optical Society of America

Abstract:We propose a newly projected LED low-beam headlamp based on microlenses. The low-beam headlamp consists of four LEDs, four reflectors, and four microlenses. It does not need a baffle to form the cut-off line. Simulation results show that our proposed low-beam design can satisfy United Nations Economic Commission for Europe vehicle regulations (ECE) R112. The structure of our system is simple and easy to fabricate. Optical efficiency of the system can reach up to 80%, which is much higher than the traditional low-beam lamp design. According to the conservation law of energy and the Snell’s law, the reflector is generated by freeform optics design method. Then the optical system is simulated by Monte Carlo method using ASAP software. Light pattern of simulation could meet the standard. The high beam headlamp is finally fabricated and assembled into a physical object. Experiment results can fully comply with United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) vehicle regulations R113 revision 2 (Class C).

Abstract:Headlamps are installed at the head of automobiles for road lighting. About the illumination and anti-dazzle, some standards such as the standard of ECE are established. Now more and more free face reflective headlamps (FFR headlamps) are applied, and the light distribution design of FFR mirror becomes an important subject in the field of automobile assembling part. In this paper the surface shape of FFR headlamps is analyzed and described as a multi-partition aspherical surface with some simple parameters. According to the fundamental principles of geometrical optics and using the theory of ray transmission with energy, millions of real rays emitted from lower beam filament and high beam filament are traced and the relative intensity of illumination at the test screen with distance of 25m from the automobiles is obtained. In this paper the description of FFR mirrors is discussed, the algorithm of FFR headlamp design is presented, the flow chart is given and the light distribution simulation software with friendly interfaces is developed. In the light distribution graphic interface of the software, the illumination area could be dragged to a certain position while the parameters of current partition at the FFR mirror will be automatically changed. Using this software the FFR headlamps satisfying criteria will be designed very quickly and the 3D coordinates of any points at the mirror will be obtained. This makes CAM of FFR headlamps easy.

Abstract:The low beam light optical configuration of high brightness LED headlamp is designed in this paper. When we design low beam light, three same optical units are overlapped to achieve sufficient luminous flux. LED optical source is arranged and packaged into a LED by using multi-chip in linear array. Each unit uses multi-ellipsoid reflector to converge light issued by multi-chip high-power LED light source, which covers partial light to form by light-dark blocking some of the light baffle to form an cut-line, the light is converged through optical lens to obtain the light-type that low beam light requires. The application of ASAP software implements the simulation, and the test results show that this design meets the national standard of low beam light.

Abstract:The illumination quality of a motorcycle lighting system is essential for safety and driving comfort. In this paper, we propose a light-emitting diode (LED) motorcycle low-beam headlamp based on a freeform reflector. The reflector is generated by a freeform optics design method. Then, the optical system is simulated by the Monte Carlo method using commercial optical tracing software. The low-beam headlamp is then fabricated and assembled into a physical object. Both the simulation and measurement results show that the headlamp fully complies with United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) vehicle regulations.

Abstract:We propose a light-emitting diode headlamp for motorcycles based on freeform micro-lenses. The freeform micro-lenses include a collimator and micro-lens structures. The rays emitted by the light-emitting diode source are first collimated and then redistributed by the microstructures. We make a point by point relationship between the light-emitting diode source and the target plane according to Economic Commission for Europe Regulation R113 revision 2. Simulation results show that the light pattern of our proposed headlamp could satisfy the requirements of the regulation. Illuminance on the test points, lines, and zones can fully meet the Economic Commission for Europe Regulation. The optical efficiency of our proposed headlamp could reach up to 90%, which is much higher than the traditional design.

Abstract:A modular of the LED headlamp system based on freeform reflectors is proposed. Glare suppression and optical design are taken into account during the module design. The proposed module consists of six LEDs and each of them has a freeform reflector correspondingly, which is constructed based on the light energy maps and Snell’s Law. Through lighting up different LEDs, the high-beam light and the low-beam light can be switched conveniently. With the proposed method, a module is designed and LUW HWQP LED source whose chip size is 1.0mm×1.0mm is adopted for the simulation. Results demonstrate that the lighting distribution can well fulfill the requirements of ECE R112 regulation without any other lenses, shields or baffles. Furthermore, the total optical efficiency can reach up to 80.29% and 81.16% for the low-beam light and high-beam light respectively.

Abstract:Low optical efficiency of light-emitting diode (LED) based headlamp is one of the most important issues to obstruct applications of LEDs in headlamp. An effective high-efficient LED headlamp freeform lens design method is introduced in this paper. A low-beam lens and a high-beam lens for LED headlamp are designed according to this method. Monte Carlo ray tracing simulation results demonstrate that the LED headlamp with these two lenses can fully comply with the ECE regulation without any other lens or reflector. Moreover, optical efficiencies of both these two lenses are more than 88% in theory. (C) 2010 Optical Society of America
