Abstract:A radical addition reaction promoted by Na2S2O4 of perfluoroalkyl iodides with 2,3-allenols affording E/Z mixtures of 3-iodo-4-perfluoroalkyl-substituted allylic alcohols has been studied. Kinetic resolution with Sonogashira coupling reaction was applied to afford the Z isomer of 3-iodo-4-perfluoroalkyl-substituted allylic alcohol (Z-3) and the E isomer of conjugated enynic diols (E-5) in 39–52% and 22–40% yields, respectively.

Abstract:A Na2S2O4-promoted radical addition reaction of perfluoroalkyl iodides with allenes affording 1-perfluoroalkyl-2-alken-2-yl iodides 3 in 52-69% yields has been developed. Abstract:A Na2S2O4-promoted radical addition reaction of perfluoroalkyl iodides with allenes has been studied in which a Z/E mixture of 2-iodo-1-perfluoroalkyl-2-alkenes 3 were afforded in 52–69% yields. A kinetic resolution using Sonogashira coupling reaction in MeCN using Et2NH as the base was developed to synthesize the 2-iodo-1-perfluoroalkyl-2(Z)-alkenes (Z-3) and E-4-perfluoroalkylmethylalk-4-en-2-ynols (E-5) stereoselectively. A complete Sonogashira coupling procedure in Et2NH at 40°C was also developed affording a mixture of E and Z-4-perfluoroalkylmethyl-4-en-2-ynols (E-5 and Z-5), which may be easily separated by chromatography on silica gel.

Abstract:A halogen-bond-promoted atom transfer radical addition of alkynes with perfluoroalkyl iodides under visible light irradiation has been reported. Fluoroalkyl radicals can be generated by a visible-light induced single electron transfer (SET) process with fluorinated iodides as halogen bond donors and organic bases as halogen bond acceptors. Subsequently fluoroalkyl radicals add to terminal alkynes to afford the corresponding iodoperfluoroalkylated products with high yields and broad substrate scope at room temperature. The resulting perfluoroalkylated alkenyl iodides can be further functionalized by cross-coupling reactions. (C) 2017 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Abstract:A hexafluoroisopropanol (HFIP)-catalyzed difluoroalkylation of propargylic alcohols with difluoroenoxysilanes to access structurally diverse tetrasubstituted difluoroalkyl allenes has been developed. This convenient procedure enables the rapid construction of highly functionalized multisubstituted fluorinated allenes in a mild and straightforward way. Furthermore, the synthetic potential of this methodology has been demonstrated by the facile synthesis of various structurally interesting fluorine-containing molecules such as gem-difluorosubstituted dihydropyran, tetrasubstituted CF2H-allene, and multisubstituted fluorinated cyclopentanone derivatives.

Abstract:An efficient method for photocatalytic perfluoroalkylation of vinyl-substituted all-carbon quaternary centers involving 1,2-aryl migration has been developed. The rearrangement reactions use fac-Ir(ppy)(3), visible light and commercially available fluoroalkyl halides and can generate valuable multisubstituted perfluoroalkylated compounds in a single step that would be challenging to prepare by other methods. Mechanistically, the photoinduced alkyl radical addition to an alkene leads to the migration of a vicinal aryl substituent from its adjacent all-carbon quaternary center with the concomitant generation of a C-radical bearing two electron-withdrawing groups that is further reduced by a hydrogen donor to complete the domino sequence.

Abstract:Treatment of polyfluorophenyl perfluoroalkanesulfonates RfSO3C6F4X-p (1, X = F, Cl) with alkynes in the presence of Pd(PPh3)2Cl2 or Pd(PPh3)4 and Et3N in DMF gave polyfluorophenylalkynes in good to high yields. The same products were also prepared in a one-pot reaction from the corresponding perfluoroalkanesulfonyl fluoride and polyfluorophenol in comparable yields.

Abstract:An efficient method for the synthesis of perfluoroalkyl allenyl ketones via the 1,2-addition-elimination reaction of perfluoroalkyl Grignard reagents with allenoates has been established. No further reaction was observed between these perfluoroalkyl ketones and RfMgX. Under the catalysis of PdCl2 or AuCl3, perfluoroalkyl 1,2-allenyl ketones can be transformed to 2-perfluoroalkyl-substituted furans; they may also undergo 1,2-addition with organolithiums to afford tertiary 1,2-allenols containing a perfluoroalkyl group.

Abstract:Transition-metal-activated alkynes or allenes can accept nucleophilic attack and undergo direct addition of the nucleophiles to the unsaturated bonds or trigger subsequent rearrangement reactions. This chemistry has witnessed increasing development in recent years. In this report, we have focused on the metal-catalyzed reactions of a variety of substituted propargyl allenic alcohols and thiophenols using indium(III) and zinc(II) catalysts, which can activate both the alcohol and alkyne. In this reaction, thio groups play the role of a nucleophile and trigger subsequent rearrangements to give benzene derivatives. The products can be further transformed into various 1,3,5-trisubstituted aromatic compounds by nickel-catalyzed coupling reactions through the cleavage of the C-S bonds.
