Abstract:AbstractThrough an unexpected CC bond migration, 2(E)‐enals were efficiently prepared highly stereoselectively in moderate to good yields via the sodium iodide/tert‐butyl(dimethyl)silyl chloride (NaI/TBSCl)‐mediated reaction of the easily available 2,3‐allenols. Based on a careful mechanistic study, including control experiments and deuterium‐labeling experiments, an electron‐withdrawing substituent group in the 4 position has been proven to be crucial and a possible mechanism has been proposed.magnified image

Abstract:Iodohydroxylation reaction of allenyl phenyl sulfoxides with I-2 can smoothly proceed to generate (E)-2-iodo-3-hydroxy-1-alkenyl sulfoxides with excellent regio- and stereoselectivity in high or excellent yields. The configuration of E-2a was determined by the X-ray diffraction study.

Abstract:A highly regioselective iodosulfonylation of allenes in the presence of CuI and 1,10-phenanthroline has been developed for the synthesis of various useful ( E)-α-iodomethyl vinylsulfones in moderate to excellent yields. This practical reaction is fast, operationally simple, and in particular, proceeds under very mild conditions to afford the target products with high regio- and stereoselectivity. The selectivity was illustrated by a conceptual DFT analysis.

Abstract:The iodohydroxylation of 1,2-allenyl sulfoxides with 1, in the presence of BnSH affords 3-hydroxy-2-iodo-2(E)-alkenyl Sulfides in good yields and selectivities. The stereochemistry for the products of this transformation is opposite to what was obtained from the iodohydroxylation of 1,2-allenyl Sulfides.
