Abstract:A highly efficient and selective Rh nanocatalyst was demonstrated for the reduction of nitroarenes with hydrazine monohydrate under mild conditions. Functional groups such as halides (F, Cl, Br and I), CN, NH2, OH, alkene, ester and amide groups were untouched during the hydrogenation of the nitroarenes, and the corresponding anilines were obtained quantitatively.

Abstract:An efficient Ru-catalyzed synthesis of dihydrofuroquinolines from azido-cyclopropyl ketones via the reduction-cyclization-rearrangement process is reported. A plausible reaction mechanism for this process is depicted. Additionally, when the reaction was carried out under H2 (1 atm) in the presence of Pd/C, 4-quinolones were obtained in excellent yields.

Abstract:A reduction of quinolines to synthetically versatile tetrahydroquinoline molecules with I2 and HBpin is described. In the presence of iodine (20 mol%) as a catalyst, reduction of quinolines and other N-heteroarenes proceeded readily with hydroboranes as the reducing reagents. The broad functional-group tolerance, good yields and mild reaction conditions imply high practical utility.

Abstract:An efficient protocol for the Hantzsch synthesis of 2, 3, 5, 6-tetrasubstituted unsymmetrical pyridines has been developed through Fe(OAc)2 promoted condensation of multicomponent carbonyl compounds, in which the C4 of the pyridine rings was derived from DMF and the nitrogen atom resulted from 1, 1dichloro-2 nitroethene (DCNE). Abstract:A simple, efficient and green protocol for chemoselective reduction of carbon-carbon double bond in conjugated alkenes with Hantzsch esters is described. Without any additional catalysts, a series of conjugated alkenes with strong electron-withdrawing groups were reduced in water with excellent yield. Functional groups such as nitrile, ester, nitro, fluoro, chloro, bromo, furanyl and benzyl are all tolerated by the reaction conditions employed.

Abstract:A novel, practical, highly efficient, and transition metal free nitrogen insertion reaction for the synthesis of 2,3-disubstituted quinazolinone derivatives was developed. Diverse functionalized 3-indolinone-2-carboxylates and nitrosoarenes with a wide range of substituted nitrosobenzenes, nitrosopyridines, dibenzofuranyl, or dibenzothienyl nitroso compounds worked smoothly to give 2,3-disubstituted quinazolinone derivatives in good to excellent yields (69-98%). A gram-scale reaction was achieved, and an afloqualone analogue was synthesized under the mild reaction conditions.
