Abstract:A novel protocol for the preparation of various diarylphosphine oxide compounds via a Ni-catalyzed cross-coupling of aryl chlorides with R2P(O)H has been developed. Notably, this process exhibits the following very attractive features: (i) the process is simpler and operates under mild reaction conditions; (ii) the process is generally cheaper in part because the more accessible aryl chloride is used to form the C-P bond; (iii) the process avoids the need for simultaneous preparation and use of Ar2P(O)M.

Abstract:We report the amination of aryl carbamates using nickel-catalysis. The methodology is broad in scope with respect to both coupling partners and delivers aminated products in synthetically useful yields. Computational studies provide the full catalytic cycle of this transformation, and suggest that reductive elimination is the rate-determining step. Given that carbamates are easy to prepare, robust, inert to Pd-catalysis, and useful for arene functionalization, these substrates are particularly attractive partners for use in synthesis. The sequential use of carbamate functionalization/site-selective cross-coupling processes highlights the utility of this methodology.

Abstract:A nickel-catalyzed electrochemical cross-coupling reaction of aryl bromides with dialkyl phosphites, ethyl phenylphosphinate, and diphenylphosphine oxide has been developed. This reaction utilizes a simple undivided cell with inexpensive carbon electrodes to synthesize aryl phosphonates, aryl phosphinates, and arylphosphine oxides at room temperature. This protocol provides a mild and efficient route for the construction of C–P bond in moderate to high yields with broad substrate scope.

Abstract:A step‐economical and operationally simple nickel‐catalyzed cross‐electrophile coupling of aryl phosphates with aryl bromides through C‐O bond cleavage, which precluded the employment of relatively moisture‐labile and unreadily available organometallics, was developed. The reaction proceeded smoothly in the presence of magnesium turnings and lithium chloride in THF to afford the corresponding biaryls in moderate to good yields with reasonable functionality tolerance.
