Abstract:A novel, easy and useful copper-catalyzed selective acylation of secondary anilines with ethyl glyoxalate has been developed, and the corresponding indoline-2,3-dione derivatives were prepared. The procedure comprises the sequential intermolecular copper-catalyzed selective oxidative ortho-site aromatic acylation of the NH group in secondary anilines and intramolecular nucleophilic attack of the NH group to the ester. The inexpensive, easy and efficient method should provide a new strategy for synthesis of dicarbonyl compounds.

Abstract:An efficient and convenient Rh(III)-catalyzed double aryl C(sp2)-H bond and N-H activation and annulation reaction is reported for the synthesis of indolo[2,1-a]isoquinolines in the presence of the Cu(OAc)2 oxidant under heating conditions. Distinct from previous works with other arylamine donors, one molecule of 1,3-diarylurea can serve as a precursor of two molecules of arylamine in the reaction with diaryl-substituted alkynes.

Abstract:A novel, convenient and efficient copper-catalyzed domino method for the synthesis of 4-oxopyrimido[1,2-a]indole derivatives has been developed, and the corresponding target products were obtained in moderate to good yields. The domino reactions involved sequential copper-catalyzed intermolecular C-arylation, intramolecular addition of NH to nitrile and nucleophilic attack of amino to carbonyl, and the obtained N-(2-halophenyl)-3-oxoalkanamides carry various functional groups.

Abstract:A Lewis-acid-catalyzed selective reaction between anilines and glyoxylates was developed for synthesis of diarylmethanes or oxoimidazolidines. Under the catalysis of AgOTf, a series of anilines-based diarylmethanes, including primary, secondary, and tertiary anilines, were obtained in moderate to good yields.
