Abstract:A novel Pd(II) catalyzed direct oxidative Heck-Cassar-Sonogashira type alkynylation of indoles with terminal alkynes under an atmosphere of O(2) is developed. Unlike previous methods, the reaction does not require the pregeneration of indolyl halide or alkynyl halide. Furthermore, only a catalytic amount of base is required and oxygen was used as the ultimate "green" terminal oxidant.

Abstract:Oxidative Heck coupling of pyridin-4(1H)-one via palladium(II)-catalyzed C–H bond activation has been achieved in moderate to good yields. The coupling occurred selectively at C3 position. Pivalic acid was found to be an effective additive to promote this alkenylation.

Abstract:A tandem coupling-ketooxygenation reaction of readily accessible enediyne-carboxylic compounds with inner alkynes has been developed that utilizes the PdCl2/CuBr2 catalytic system under an O2 atmosphere and assembles a class of isoindolinones and o-acylbenzoic acids. The two oxygen atoms are regioselectively incorporated into enediyne units at the 1- and 6-positions from atmospheric molecular oxygen and H2O, respectively, during the present process. This study uncovered a formal [4C + 2C] benzannulation-diketonization of enediynes and alkynes via a coupling and decoupling strategy.

Abstract:We have developed a Pd(II) catalyzed direct modification of dihydropyrrolo[2,1‐a]isoquinoline derivatives with various alkenes including acrylates, acrylamide, cyclohexenone, maleimide and styrenes. A series of highly functionalized alkenylated dihydropyrroloisoquinolines could be prepared in acceptable to good yields (up to 98%) through oxidative Heck coupling.
