Abstract:In this paper, we report a simple sonochemical method to synthesize PbWO4 dendrites without any templates. The obtained products were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The effect of the pH value, precursor and reaction time on the formation of PbWO4 dendrites was investigated. It is found that the obtained PbWO4 dendrites were composed of clusters of nanorods. It is rational to expect that dendritic structures of other oxides may also be synthesized by this simple method.

Abstract:PbWO4 dendrites have been successfully synthesized by a simple sonochemical method without any surfactants at room temperature. The as-prepared powders were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), electron diffraction (ED), and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). The effect of pH value, molar ratio of [WO42−]/[Pb2+], reaction time, and the initial concentration of the starting solution on the formation of PbWO4 dendrites was investigated. Experimental results indicate that the molar ratio of [WO42−]/[Pb2+] played a crucial role in the formation of PbWO4 dendrites. A growth mechanism of PbWO4 dendrites was also discussed. The present process is proved to be environment-friendly, and can be extended to the controllable synthesis of other tungstates.

Abstract:Lead tungstate single crystals with dendritic, flowery and star-like structures have been prepared via a facile, ethylene glycol (EG)-assisted sonochemical method. The concentrations of EG and ultrasound irradiation were found to play crucial roles in the morphology control of the final products. The growth process was investigated by carefully following time-dependent experiments, and the oriented attachment process accompanying Ostwald ripening was proposed for the possible formation mechanism. The optical properties, such as the Raman spectra and photoluminescence (PL) spectra, of the obtained PbWO4 crystals were studied.

Abstract:BiVO4 dendrites have been controllably synthesized by a hydrothermal method without any surfactants or templates. The structure and morphology of the obtained BiVO4 dendrites were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction, scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscopy, and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. The effect of the pH values, precursors, solution concentrations, reaction temperature, and reaction time on the morphology and structure of the BiVO4 dendrites was systematically studied for the first time. It is found that the morphologies of the obtained BiVO4 crystallites can vary from cubic-like to dendritic shape. The BiVO4 dendrites can be successfully fabricated by the hydrothermal method at 150 degrees C and pH 7 when Bi-2(CO3)(3) and NH4VO3 were used as precursors The resultant dendritic structure has four trunks which have ordered branches on the opposite sides of the trunks. A rational mechanism for the oriental growth of the BiVO4 dendrites is discussed. The preparation of BiVO4 dendrites with well-dened shapes may open new opportunities for wide applications of future nanodevices.

Abstract:PbMoO4 nanoparticles and pagodalike microcrystals have been controllably prepared by a simple sonochemical method without any surfactants. The as-prepared powders were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The results showed that the pH played a crucial role on the controllable synthesis of PbMoO4. Pagoda like microcrystals could be formed on acid condition, and nanocrystals were obtained in the case of pH 7 and pH 14. The synthesis mechanism was also discussed. The effect of pH value, temperature, and reaction time on the formation of SrCO3 crystals was investigated. This novel route is proved to be simple and environment-friendly, which can be extended to the shape-controlled synthesis of other metal oxide nanocrystals.

Abstract:Lead tungstate ( PbWO 4) an important inorganic scintillator, was synthesized via a mild sonochemical route from an aqueous solution of lead acetate and sodium tungstate in the presence of complexing agents under ambient air. X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and photoluminescence (PL) were used to characterize the products. The as-prepared PbWO 4 nanocrystals crystallize in a tetragonal structure and have an average crystal size of ca. 10 nm.

Abstract:Single crystal silver dendrites have been synthesized by heterogeneous reduction of AgNO3 in toluene solutions of a triblock copolymer (EO)20–(PO)70–(EO)20. The triblock copolymer stabilized system exhibits high stability, which makes sample handling and analysis simple. By this method, the concentration of Ag in the colloidal system can be as high as 8.5g/L. TEM, XRD, IR, and UV–vis measurements are used to characterize the resulting hybrid systems.

The as-prepared products were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), selected area electron diffraction (SAED), and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). The effect of pH value, precursor, and reaction temperature on the formation of MnWO4 nanocrystals was investigated. The precursor was found to be vital to the formation of MnWO4 nanowires. It is rational to expect that one-dimensional nanostructures of other tungstates may also be synthesized by this simple method.

Abstract:CdWO4 nanoparticles,nanorods,nanobundles,and nanowires were controllably synthesized via a hydrothermal method without any templates and surfactants using CdCl2,CdC2O4,CdCO3,(C6H5O7) 2Cd3,and Na2WO4 as raw materials.The as-prepared powders were characterized by XRD,TEM,HRTEM,and SAED.The results showed that the molar ratio of [WO42-]/[Cd2 +],reaction time,and the type of precursors had a crucial effect on the morphology and size of the products.

Abstract:PbWO4 nanostructures with different morphologies, such as polyhedral, spindle-like, and dot-shaped, have been successfully synthesized via a mild sonochemical route from an aqueous solution of lead acetate and sodium tungstate in the presence of complexing reagent NTA. Reaction conditions, such as pH value and the concentration of complexing reagent, were found to have close relation with the morphologies of final products. The ultrasound-induced oriented attachment growth mechanism has been proposed for the possible formation mechanism of spindle-like sample. Raman and room-temperature photoluminescence of PbWO4 samples with different morphologies have also been investigated.

Abstract:Lead titanate pyrochlore (Pb2Ti2O6) dendrites have been synthesized via hydrothermal treatment of the mixture of lead and titanium hydroxides with the use of ammonia. The products were characterized by XRD, FESEM, TEM, HRTEM, SAED and EDX, respectively. TEM and FESEM show that an individual Pb2Ti2O6 pyrochlore dendrite is composed of a long central trunk and more than three rows of secondary branches. Furthermore, the secondary branches cross the long central trunk exhibiting a cross-like morphology. The SAED patterns reveal the dendrites are single crystalline in nature. And the HRTEM images further demonstrate that both the trunk and the branches all grow along < 112 > directions. Based on the time-dependent experiments, the analyses of the effects of ammonia and the configuration of cubic pyrochlore structure, the growth mechanism of the single crystal Pb2Ti2O6 pyrochlore dendrites was discussed.

Abstract:In this paper, we report the obtention of MnWO4 nanocrystals with different shapes, such as: nanospheres, nanorods, and urchin-like microspheres were synthesized by a surfactant-free hydrothermal method. The as-obtained powders were characterized by X-ray diffraction patterns and transmission electron microscopy. XRD patterns indicate that these crystals have a wolframite-type monoclinic structure without deleterious phases. The TEM images revealed that the pH values and precursors played a key role in the morphology-controlled synthesis of MnWO4 nanocrystals. This green method is an effective approach to the controlled growth of MnWO4 nanocrystals with different shapes, which are of interest for both theoretical investigations and practical applications. Finally, a possible growth mechanism for the formation of the MnWO4 microcrystals with different shapes was discussed in detail.

Abstract:PbS nanocubic and dendritic crystals were successfully prepared by a complex solvothermal synthetic route using Pb(NO3)2 and dithizone as reagents and ethylenediamine as solvent. The complex precursor was found to effectively play an important role in the morphologies of PbS crystals. Investigations suggest that the nanocubes (diameter range of 70 nm) were obtained under high flux of monomers in relative short reaction duration, and the dendrites were formed through an oriented attachment growth from the cubes under a subsequent process. Scanning electron microscope studies show that the dendrites have three-dimensional eight-horn-shaped dendritic structure. The influence of the reaction temperature, duration and precursors has been discussed. On the basis of the experimental results, a growth mechanism of the PbS crystals was proposed, which was supported by the technical characterizations.

Abstract:The preparation of dendritic nanostructures made of trunks and branches has become an exciting field in recent years.SrTiO3 dendrites were successfully synthesized for the first time by using Ti(SO4)2 and Sr(NO3)2 as the raw materials and 0.1 mol/L KOH as a mineralizer at 200 ℃ for 4 h without any templates and surfactants through a hydrothermal method.The structures and topographies of the as-prepared powders were characterized by XRD and TEM.The results show that large numbers of TiO2 nanoparticles are first synthesized at the early stage of the hydro-thermal reaction,and the TiO2 nanoparticles gradually decrease as the reaction conti-nued.Finally,the well-crystallized SrTiO3 single-crystal dendrites were obtained.The hydrothermal method could be used to synthesize other perovskite oxides,and is promising to prepare nano-dendrites.

Abstract:A simple pulse sonoelectrochemical technique was used to synthesize highly dispersed spherical palladium particles and a dendritic Pd superstructure in the presence of cethyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) at room temperature. The shape and size of spherical nanocrystalline Pd can be controlled by varying current density, the interval between two continuous ultrasonic pulses, ultrasonic intensity, and the concentration of CTAB. The possible growth mechanism of dendritic-structured Pd is discussed.

Abstract:Single-crystalline PbCrO4 nanorods, nanowires and amorphous PbCr4O13 nanotubes have been successfully synthesized by a simple hydrothermal method in the presence of L-lysine. The morphology and crystal structure of the products can be easily adjusted by changing the reaction temperature. The PbCr4O13/PbS nanocomposites can be further synthesized by using the amorphous nanotubes as template and introducing S ions to the reaction system. The morphology and structure of the lead chromate 1D nanostructures and the PbCr4O13/PbS nanocomposites were systematically studied by means of XRD, SEM, TEM, HRTEM. The optical properties of the final products were also investigated in detail.
