Abstract:In this paper, we report the obtention of MnWO4 nanocrystals with different shapes, such as: nanospheres, nanorods, and urchin-like microspheres were synthesized by a surfactant-free hydrothermal method. The as-obtained powders were characterized by X-ray diffraction patterns and transmission electron microscopy. XRD patterns indicate that these crystals have a wolframite-type monoclinic structure without deleterious phases. The TEM images revealed that the pH values and precursors played a key role in the morphology-controlled synthesis of MnWO4 nanocrystals. This green method is an effective approach to the controlled growth of MnWO4 nanocrystals with different shapes, which are of interest for both theoretical investigations and practical applications. Finally, a possible growth mechanism for the formation of the MnWO4 microcrystals with different shapes was discussed in detail.

Abstract:Single-crystal MnWO4 nanowires were successfully prepared for the first time via a simple hydrothermal method without any surfactants. The as-prepared products were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), selected area electron diffraction (SAED), and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). The effect of pH value, precursor, and reaction temperature on the formation of MnWO4 nanocrystals was investigated. The precursor was found to be vital to the formation of MnWO4 nanowires. It is rational to expect that one-dimensional nanostructures of other tungstates may also be synthesized by this simple method.

Abstract:Using MnCl2,MnC2O4and Na2WO4as precursors and KOH as mineralizer,MnWO4 crystallites were successfully prepared with the hydrothermal method without any surfactants and templates.The structure and morphology of the prepared MnWO4crystallites were characterized by the X-ray diffraction (XRD)and transmission electron microscopy (TEM).The formation mechanism of the MnWO4crystallites was preliminarily discussed.The results show that the pH value and precursor can control the one-dimensional orientation growth of the MnWO4crystallites.When MnCl2is used as the manganese source,the morphology of the prepared MnWO4 crystallites changes from sphericity to rod shape with the increase of the pH value,the length and iameteroftheprepared MnWO4nanorodsare about 0 nm and 30 nm,20respectively.When MnC2O4is used as the manganese source,the morphology of the prepared MnWO4crystallites changes from nanorod to nanowire with the increase of the pH value.Finally,the length and diameter of the prepared MnWO4nanowires are 1-1.5μm and 20-50 nm,respectively.

Abstract:CdWO4 nanoparticles,nanorods,nanobundles,and nanowires were controllably synthesized via a hydrothermal method without any templates and surfactants using CdCl2,CdC2O4,CdCO3,(C6H5O7) 2Cd3,and Na2WO4 as raw materials.The as-prepared powders were characterized by XRD,TEM,HRTEM,and SAED.The results showed that the molar ratio of [WO42-]/[Cd2 +],reaction time,and the type of precursors had a crucial effect on the morphology and size of the products.

Abstract:Cobalt tungstate (CoWO4) nanocrystals with an average size of 2050 nm were synthesized via a template- or surfactant-free hydrothermal route. The crystal structure and morphology of the as-synthesized CoWO4 sample were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. Magnetic measurements on the as-synthesized CoWO4 nanocrystals indicate a Neel temperature (TN) of similar to 40 K. This lower TN may be a result of the nanostructured particles that reduce the exchange coupling. The new synthetic route presented in this paper has potential applications to fabricate other metal tungstates (MWO4) materials.

Abstract:In this paper, we report the obtention of CaWO4 crystals with controlled morphologies, such as spindle-like, nanorods, urchin-like, and sphere-like, were selectively synthesized via a simple sonochemical method without any surfactants or templates. The as-prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. It is found that the ultrasonic time and pH value played an important role in the morphology-controlled synthesis of CaWO4 crystals. Abstract:A versatile synthetic method has been developed for the fabrication of Mn3O4 nanocrystals with different sizes and shapes, such as square nanoplates, mesocrystal nanodisks, and nanopolyhedra. Manganese(II) acetate tetrahydrate and hydrazine monohydrate were the only two reactants used in aqueous solution, and no surfactant was employed. The key advantages of our approach are (1) the room-temperature synthesis, (2) the facile operation, (3) the flexibility in shape and size-control, and (4) the ease of scale-up. The exposed surfaces of the as-prepared nanoparticles were carefully characterized and indexed. The catalytic properties of the nanoplates for the degradation of methylene blue were evaluated in detail. The catalytic properties are closely related to the shape and size of the Mn3O4 nanocrystals, and nanoplates with a size of 50 nm exhibited the best catalytic performance. The magnetic properties were investigated with a superconducting quantum interference device magnetometer.

Abstract:A solvothermal route to MnWO4 nanoparticles and nanorods has been developed. These nano-size products have been characterized by X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. The pressure, pH and temperature of the reaction systems were found to play important roles in determining the morphologies of the MnWO4 nanocrystalline products. Homologous surfactants have also been used to control the formation of MnWO4 nanocrystals. These surfactants were found to play a crucial role in the solvothermal route, and there is apparently a relationship between the molecular weight of the added homologous surfactants and the aspect ratio of the resulting nanorods.

Abstract:Large-scale gamma-MnOOH and beta-MnO2, nanorods have been synthesized via the hydrothermal process assisted with CTAB at 200 degrees C for 20 h using MnSO4 and NaOH as source and subsequent calcination of gamma-MnOOH nanorods at 300 degrees C for 3 h, respectively. The characterization of X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and selected area electron diffraction (SAED) indicate that the gamma-MnOOH and beta-MnO2 nanorods prepared are monoclinic and tetragonal single crystalline, respectively. Abstract:Size controllable α-MnO2 nanowires were synthesized from KMnO4 and ethanol via a low-temperature hydrothermal route assisted with subsequently heat treatment. No acid or alkali was added. XRD and SEM results clarified α-MnO2 nanoparticles (5–30nm) began to form at room temperature, and then grew up to nanowires (~12nm in diameter) when temperature increasing up to 120–160°C for an appropriate reaction time. Otherwise, octahedron-like Mn3O4 began to form at 120°C more than 4h or at 160°C more than 2h. Hydrothermal-synthesized α-MnO2 show well thermal-stability even it was heated at 900°C. And various size α-MnO2 nanowires were controllable prepared by adjusting heat treatment temperature of hydrothermal-synthesized α-MnO2 at range from 150°C to 750°C for 3h, which show the strongest diffraction peak (211) plane. The capacity of hydrothermal-synthesized α-MnO2 at 120°C for 2h was about 125F/g, which exhibited a promising electrochemical property.

Abstract:Nanocrystalline trimanganese tetroxide (Mn3O4) has been successfully synthesized by a solvothermal reaction in which KMnO4 is reduced by CH3OH or CH3CH2OH under pressure. Alcohol also served as the solvent in the method. The reaction temperature can be as low as 80–100°C. Transmission electron micrographs and X-ray powder diffraction patterns show that the average particle sizes are 9–15 nm. From the electron spin resonance (ESR) pattern, hyperfine structure (six absorption peaks of ESR) of Mn2+ ion is observed on the main line of Mn3+. The mechanism for the formation of crystalline Mn3O4 is proposed.

Abstract:In this paper, we report the controlled synthesis of SrCO3 crystals by a simple hydrothermal method without any surfactants and templates. The as-prepared samples were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The effect of pH value, temperature, and reaction time on the formation of SrCO3 crystals was investigated. This novel route is proved to be simple and environment-friendly, which can be extended to the shape-controlled synthesis of other metal oxide nanocrystals.

Abstract:On basis of the redox reaction between MnO4− and Mn2+, a facile hydrothermal method combined with the adjustment of pH value in the reaction system has been employed to synthesize single-crystal γ-MnOOH nanorods, and square-like Mn3O4 nanoparticles. Additionally, single-crystalline β-MnO2 and Mn2O3 nanorods can be obtained after subsequent calcinations of the as-prepared γ-MnOOH nanostructures at 300°C and 600°C, respectively. Furthermore, electrochemical property of as-obtained β-MnO2 is also studied.

Abstract:PbMoO4 nanoparticles and pagodalike microcrystals have been controllably prepared by a simple sonochemical method without any surfactants. The as-prepared powders were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The results showed that the pH played a crucial role on the controllable synthesis of PbMoO4. Pagoda like microcrystals could be formed on acid condition, and nanocrystals were obtained in the case of pH 7 and pH 14. The synthesis mechanism was also discussed.
