Abstract:In this novel acid-base jointly promoted CuAAC, the combination of CuI/DIPEA/HOAc was developed as a highly efficient catalytic system. The functions of DIPEA and HOAc have been assigned, and HOAc was recognized to accelerate the conversions of the C-Cu bond-containing intermediates and buffer the basicity of DIPEA. As a result, all drawbacks occurring in the popular catalytic system CuI/NR(3) were overcome easily.

Abstract:In this article, we proved that all three key steps in the catalytic cycle of CuAAC can proceed in the presence of carboxylic acids and the latter two steps can be promoted significantly by carboxylic acids. Benzoic acid showed the best promotion activity, and the acids with strong chelating ability to Cu(I) ion could not serve for this purpose. Thus, the first carboxylic acid-promoted highly efficient CuAAC was established.

Abstract:In this article, the structurally well-defined dinuclear complex copper(I) acetate was studied in detail and was developed as a highly practical and efficient catalyst for the copper(I)-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition. The "bare" phenylethynylcopper(I) (i.e., with no exogeneous ligands) was isolated as an intermediate, which can be converted into an active catalytic species by treatment with acetic acid (in situ produced in the reaction) to efficiently catalyze the azide-alkyne cycloaddition under mild conditions.

Abstract:Because propiolates easily undergo base-catalyzed self-Michael addition, most popular catalytic systems in CuAAC cannot be used in the cycloaddition between azomethine imines and propiolates, because such reactions usually require the use of tertiary amines as additives (as base and/or ligand). We found that this problem can be resolved simply by using copper(I) acetate as catalyst, in which the acetate serves as a ligand and is converted into acetic acid during the reaction. Thus, copper(I) acetate catalyzed cycloaddition actually proceeds under additive-free conditions (without exogenous ligand) to efficiently give 6,7-dihydropyrazolo[1,2-a]pyrazolone derivatives, in which the side-reactions and byproducts caused by basic additives are completely avoided.

Abstract:Three copper complexes of nitrogen-sulfur donor ligands, [CuBr2(L1)] (1), [CuCl2(L2)(2)] (2) and [Cu2I2(L3)](n) (3) (L1 = bis(2-cyclohexylsulfanylethyl)amine, L2 = 2-(benzylsulfanylmethyl)pyridine and L3 = 2-(4-pyridylsulfanylmethyl)pyridine), have been synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD), powder XRD and TGA analysis. Complexes 1 and 2 are mononuclear Cu(II) complexes and are EPR active with distorted square-pyramidal and octahedral geometry, respectively. Complex 3 is a two-dimensional tetrahedral Cu(I) coordination polymer with 16- and 20-membered metallocycles. These complexes show good catalytic activities for one-pot azide-alkyne cycloaddition reactions in CH3OH-H2O.

Abstract:Introduction: An effective Cu-complex, [Cu(NH3)4SO4 • H2O] was prepared conveniently from the inexpensive and easily available starting reagents in a simple route. Materials and methods: Excellent reactivity of the catalyst was observed towards two competent clickcycloadditions: (a) oxidative cycloaddition of azides with electron-poor olefins and (b) one-pot cycloaddition of alkynes with boronic acid and sodium azide under "click-appropriate" conditions. Results: No external oxidant, short reaction time, high product yield, wide substrate scope, and aqueous solvent media make the azide-olefin cycloaddition approach a greener route in contrast to the reported methods. Conclusion: The newly developed mild, green, and rapid three-component strategy shows product diversity with superb yields at room temperature by reducing the synthetic process time and using only 1 mol % of the synthesized copper complex.

Abstract:A copper-mediated one-pot sequential reaction of terminal alkynes, azides, and propargylic carbonates is reported. The three component reaction occurs readily at room temperature to afford a 5-allenyl-1,2,3-triazoles in high yields, providing a straightforward approach to 1,3,5-trisubstituted triazoles using easily available Cu(I) reagent.

Abstract:Ligands containing NH groups often show special characteristics. In this paper, a well-defined dinuclear Cu(II) complex bearing an unsymmetrical bipyridine-pyrazole-amine ligand was synthesized by the condensation of N–H to release H2O. Using sodium L-ascorbate as a reductant, the binuclear complex showed excellent activity in 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions between alkynes and azides to obtain 1,4-disubstituted triazoles in 95%–99% isolated yields.

Abstract:Copper‐catalyzed sequential 1,3‐dipolar cycloadditions of azomethine imines and alkynes and electrophilic thiolations are described. The C−S, C−N, and C−C bonds were simultaneously formed in one pot, leading to N,N‐bicyclic pyrazolidinones in good to excellent yields. The process is proposed to proceed via reaction of a cuprate pyrazolidinonate intermediate and benzenesulfonothioate.
