Abstract:The front cover picture, provided by Bo Wang, Xinyan Wang, and Yuefei Hu, illustrates the characteristics of 1-copper(I)-2-phenylethyne in its preparation, properties and structure. By using its polymeric structure, the tandem reaction sequence of 1-Cu(I)-alkyne with an azide (cycloaddition) and then an electrophile E+ (electrophilic substitution) can be controlled efficiently. Thus, a general method for the synthesis of 1,4,5-trisubstituted 1,2,3-triazoles was developed by simply stirring the mixture of a 1-copper(I)-alkyne, an azide and an electroplile E+. Synthesis of 1,2,3-Triazoles from Azide-Derivatised Aminocyclitols by Catalytic Diazo Transfer and Cuaac Click Chemistry

Abstract:Cu-II-catalysed diazo transfer and Cu-I-catalysed azide-alkyne 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition (CuAAC) "click chemistry" were used to synthesis C7N aminocyclitol-derivatised 1,2,3-triazoles. In the course of this work, the -N=N- moiety was transferred onto C7N aminocyclitols such as validamine, valienamine and valiolamine by employing imidazole-1-sulfonyl azide as the diazo transfer reagent with catalysis by Cu-II, Zn-II and Ni-II, in moderate to good yields. The obtained azidocyclitols were coupled with various terminal alkynes under modified Meldal's conditions with good to excellent yields. The stereo- and regiochemistry of the products were confirmed by 2D-NMR (NOESY and HMBC). One-pot syntheses of the corresponding 1,2,3-triazoles, as safer and more efficient procedures, were also investigated and gave moderate to good yields.

Abstract:A copper-mediated one-pot sequential reaction of terminal alkynes, azides, and propargylic carbonates is reported. The three component reaction occurs readily at room temperature to afford a 5-allenyl-1,2,3-triazoles in high yields, providing a straightforward approach to 1,3,5-trisubstituted triazoles using easily available Cu(I) reagent.

Abstract:A simple combination of CuI/LiOtBu/DMF enables the tandem Huisgen [3 + 2] cycloaddition/amidation reaction of terminal alkynes and sulfonyl azides to 5-sulfamide-1-(N-sulfonyl)-1,2,3-triazoles I, which can undergo an alkylation/desulfonation sequence to deliver highly substituted aminotriazoles II by one-pot or one-pot, two-step procedures.

Abstract:A new methodology for the Cu-catalyzed synthesis of 1H-1,2,3-triazoles from 1,1-dibromoalkenes and sodium azide is presented. Aryl dibromoolefins were efficiently converted into the corresponding 1,2,3-triazoles. A comprehensive number of functional groups were compatible with this reaction. 1,2,3-Triazoles were obtained in moderate to excellent yields.

Abstract:The Cu(I)-catalyzed azide-alkyne click polymerization has become a powerful tool for the preparation of functional polytriazoles. However, copper residues in the products could harm the performance of optoelectronic devices and be cytotoxic in biological applications. The complete removal of these residues after reaction from the polymers is therefore necessary but difficult. The metal-free azide-alkyne click polymerization (MFCP) provides a solution to this problem. Currently, the MFCP is facilitated by activated alkynes, and no activated comonomer, i.e. azide, has been reported. In this paper, an activated azide, 4,4'-diazidoperfluorobenzophenone , was designed and synthesized. Compared to the ordinary azide, such a monomer can remarkably accelerate the MFCP with alkynes. Thus, a new MFCP of activated azide and alkyne was established, and polytriazoles with high regioregularity (fraction of 1,4-isomer higher than 82%) and satisfactory molecular weights (M-w up to 34 000) were produced in high yields (up to 95.1%).

Abstract:A CuI-catalyzed three-component coupling of trifluoromethyl ketone N-tosylhydrazones, alkynes and azides has been developed. The reactionrepresents a straightforward method to access difluoromethylene substituted 1,2,3-triazoles. Mechanistically, it has been proposed that the reaction follows a pathway involving the formation of Cu(I)triazolide intermediate, Cu(I) carbene formation, migratory insertion, and -fluoride elimination. Thetransformation is featured by mild conditions, wide substrate scope and high efficiency.

Abstract:An efficient copper-catalyzed synthesis of substituted 2,4-diamino-1,3,5-triazines from 1,1-dibromoalkenes and biguanides under mild conditions has been developed. The reaction occurred in moderate to good yields and tolerated alkyl-, heterocyclic-, or aryl-substituted 1,1-dibromoalkenes containing functionalities such as nitriles, ethers, and halogens. Monosubstituted to tetrasubstituted biguanidines also afforded the desired products.
