Abstract:The palladium catalyst supported on fluoride pillared layered double hydroxide(LDH-F) was prepared by the incipient wetness method,and it was used to catalyze the Heck and Suzuki coupling reactions of aryl bromides.The structure of the Pd/LDH-F catalyst and the leaching of Pd in the solution were characterized by(X-ray) diffraction and inductively coupled plasma.With a small palladium dosage(Pd/aryl bromide molar ratio of 0.001) and no ligand,Pd/LDH-F exhibits higher catalytic activity and selectivity than the catalysts supported on other carriers for the Heck reaction of aryl bromides with styrene.The Pd/LDH-F catalyst can be easily separated from the reaction mixture and reused four times without loss in activity.Under the conditions of Pd/aryl bromide molar ratio of 0.005,room temperature and 3 h,the Pd/LDH-F catalyst can catalyze the Suzuki reaction of bromobenzene with a product yield of 99%.

Abstract:The air-, and thermo-stable palladium(II) complexes C1-C10 are prepared by the reaction of PdCl2(CH3CN)2 with pyridylbenzoimidazole. With various substituents on the pyridine ring, palladium atom was coordinated by two pyridylbenzoimidazole molecules via nitrogen atoms of benzoimidazole. The structure of complexes C3, C4, C6, and C7 has been confirmed by X-ray diffraction analysis. Without substituents on the pyridine ring, palladium atom was directly coordinated with two nitrogen atoms of pyridine and benzoimidazole nitrogen via intramolecular chelation (C10). These complexes performed the Heck olefination of aryl bromides in a good to high yield under phosphine-free conditions. (c) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Abstract:A new catalyst system for the Heck reaction consisting of PdCl 2 and 2,6-bis(1,2,4-diazaphosphol-1-yl)pyridine as a ligand is proposed. This system is efficient for the coupling of styrene with aryl bromides (K 3 PO 4 , DMA, 130 °C) at 0.1 mol% catalyst loading.

Abstract:The asymmetric intermolecular Heck reaction has been limited to aryl and vinyl triflates. Herein, we extend the reaction to aryl and vinyl bromides. Various cyclic olefins coupled with high enantioselectivity. Only bisphosphine oxides on a Spiro backbone formed highly stereoselective Pd catalysts. The use of alcoholic solvents and alkylammonium salts were essential to promote halide dissociation from neutral arylpalladium complexes.

Abstract:A highly enantioselective palladium‐catalyzed intramolecular Heck reaction of ortho‐iodophenol‐derived allyl ether, which provides an efficient method to synthesize various chiral 3,3‐disubstituted 2,3‐dihydrobenzofuran compounds bearing an all‐carbon quaternary stereocenter has been developed. Comprehensive Summary A highly enantioselective palladium‐catalyzed intramolecular Heck reaction of unactivated alkenes is developed, which provides a powerful route to access a broad range of chiral 3,3‐disubstituted‐2,3‐dihydrobenzofurans bearing all‐carbon quaternary stereocenter of interest in pharmaceutical research. Its salient features include high yield, excellent chemo‐ and enantioselectivity, mild conditions, a broad substrate scope as well as versatile transformations of the product.

Abstract:The first example of highly enantioselective intramolecular hydroarylation of allyl aryl ethers was realized by palladium-catalyzed reductive heck reactions utilizing a new chiral sulfinamide phosphine ligand (N-Me-XuPhos). N-Me-XuPhos can be easily prepared on gram scale from readily available starting materials in a one-pot synthesis approach. A series of optically active 2,3-dihydrobenzofurans bearing a quaternary stereocenter were obtained in good yields and with excellent enantioselectivities. The practicality of this reaction was validated in the straightforward synthesis of CB2 receptor agonists. Moreover, deuterium was efficiently incorporated into the products.

Abstract:Organically derivatised polyoxometalate (POM) clusters containing bromo or iodo groups can undergo ligand-free, Pd-catalysed Heck carbon-carbon coupling reactions with alkenes, with bromomagnesium phenylamide as a base (see scheme). Abstract:N,N-Dimethyl-beta-alanine was found to be a more powerful phosphine-free ligand than the previously reported ligand, N,N-dimethylglycine, in the Pd-catalyzed Heck reaction for a variety of aryl bromides, aryl iodides, and activated aryl chlorides with a practical turnover number of 10(3). Both kinetic and theoretical studies suggested that N,N-dimethyl-beta-alanine led to faster oxidative addition of an aryl halide to Pd than N,N-dimethylglycine. [reaction: see text]

Abstract:Heck reactions of bromoarenes with various olefins catalyzed by 2-iminopyridylpalladium (II) have been investigated. The scope of a coupling reaction has been tested in 1-methyl-2-pyrrolidinone at 140 degrees C using K2CO3 as base. Using 0.1% molar ratio of palladium catalysts, aryl bromides were converted into 1,2-substitutedethene products in good to high yields through coupling with both vinylarenes and alkylolefins. With butyl vinyl ether, an electron-rich olefin, however, the effective coupling reaction produced a mixture of two regio-isomers, 1,2- and 1,1-substitutedethenes. Abstract:An inexpensive and efficient Pd(OAc)2/tetramethylguanidine (TMG) or PdCl2/TMG catalytic system has been developed for the Heck reaction of an olefin with an aryl halide. The TONs were up to 1000000 when iodobenzene was used as the substrate with butyl acrylate as the reactant. In addition, [Pd(TMG)4]Cl2(H2O)8, an air-stable compound, effectively promoted the Heck reaction, which demonstrated that TMG acted as a ligand in this reaction system.

Abstract:Heck reaction involves pyridylethynyl or phenylethynyl group were inverstigated in depth. It was found that solvent had a significant effect on the reaction. As a result, the palladium-catalyzed coupling reaction was improved and was used for preparation of pyridylethynyl benzonitrile compounds. Four novel pyridylethynyl benzonitrile compounds were synthesized, illustrating an effective and convenient method for the synthesis of this class of compounds.

Abstract:Two new bis-imidazolinium salts (4a, 4b) have been synthesized as precursors of N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) from the commercially available (R)-2,2′-dihydroxy-1,1′-binaphthalene. The two bis-imidazolinium salts were used as efficient precursor of NHC ancillary ligands in the palladium-catalyzed Heck reaction. Good to excellent yields and high stereoselectivities were obtained with ethyl acrylate, acrylonitrile, and acrylamide as starting materials. The structure of bis-imidazolinium salt 4b was further characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis.
