Abstract:A nickel-catalyzed Kumada coupling of aniline derivatives was developed by selective cleavage of aryl C-N bonds under mild reaction conditions. Without preinstallation of an ortho directing group on anilines, the cross-coupling reactions of Boc-protected aromatic amines with aryl Grignard reagents afforded unsymmetric biaryls. Mechanistic studies by DFT calculations revealed that the nickel-mediated C-N bond cleavage is the rate-limiting step.

Abstract:An iodine-promoted, metal-, base-, and solvent-free cross-coupling reaction was developed for the synthesis of various useful secondary amides via an aryl N-addition reaction of aryl groups to cyano groups. This aryl transfer reaction proceeds with arylhydrazine hydrochlorides serving as the aryl donors. A labelling experiment shows that the N atom in the product comes from the cyano group of the nitriles, which are low in cost. A plausible radical-driven mechanism is also proposed.

Abstract:We report the amination of aryl carbamates using nickel-catalysis. The methodology is broad in scope with respect to both coupling partners and delivers aminated products in synthetically useful yields. Computational studies provide the full catalytic cycle of this transformation, and suggest that reductive elimination is the rate-determining step. Given that carbamates are easy to prepare, robust, inert to Pd-catalysis, and useful for arene functionalization, these substrates are particularly attractive partners for use in synthesis. The sequential use of carbamate functionalization/site-selective cross-coupling processes highlights the utility of this methodology.

Abstract:Herein, we report practical Cu(BF(4))(2)/activated carbon-catalyzed amination of various anilines, isoquinolinone, and naphthyridinone with aryl boronic acids. The ultrasonic and rotary evaporation treatment of the mixture of aq. Cu(BF(4))(2) and activated carbon in methanol afforded a novel Cu(II)-catalyst, which is air-stable and can be effectively applied in the Chan-Lam coupling reaction. Abstract:In this manuscript, we report a Pd-catalyzed ortho-C–H arylation of free anilines with arylboric acids. Under the reaction conditions, a wide range of arylboric acids can couple with free anilines to produce the corresponding o-amino biaryls in moderate to good yields with good functional group tolerance. This reaction can be conducted at gram-scale. The products can be easily further functionalized via transformation of free amino group. Those results well demonstrates the potential synthetic value of this new reaction in organic synthesis.
