Abstract:A class of chiral sulfoxide–olefins were designed and synthesized through concise routes. Their applications as ligands in Hayashi–Miyaura reaction were studied, which found that vinyl substituents of the ligands vary in stereocontrolling ability. Particularly, either isomer of adducts with excellent ees could be readily obtained through changing the position of the substituents of olefins as well as changing the configuration of the CC bond of the ligands. Meanwhile, the substrate scope of arylboronic acids and alkenes was clearly shown.

Abstract:Chiral aryl glycines are biologically relevant compounds that received a great deal of attention over the last years. They can be prepared by aminohydroxylation (K. L. Reddy, K. B. Sharpless J. Am. Chem. Soc. 1998, 120, 1207-1217), amination of enolates (D. A. Evans, S. G. Nelson J. Am. Chem. Soc. 1997, 119, 6452-6453) or reductive amination (R. Kadyrov, T. H. Riermeier, U. Dingerdissen, V. Tararov, A. Börner J. Org. Chem. 2003, 68, 4067-4070) but in some cases low regioselectivity, high catalyst loading or poor reactivity is observed. The authors applied their recently developed TangPhos ligand (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2002, 41, 1612-1614) to the enantioselective hydrogenation of a variety of α-imino esters.

Abstract:A highly regio- and enantioselective rhodium-catalyzed 1,4-addition of arylboronic acids to β,γ-unsaturated α-ketoamides using a simple new chiral sulfinylphosphine ligand is described. This transformation provides an attractive approach to construct chiral nonracemic γ,γ-diarylsubstituted carbonyl compounds, as exemplified in the concise syntheses of sertraline and tetrahydroquinoline-2-carboxylamide.

Abstract:The design and development of a novel class of chiral sulfur-olefin hybrid ligands with high synthetic feasibility are described. These new sulfoxide-olefin ligands showed excellent catalytic activities and enantioselectivities (up to 98% ee) in rhodium-catalyzed asymmetric 1, 4-addition reactions of aryl boronic acids to alpha,beta-unsaturated carbonyl compounds.

Abstract:A highly efficient asymmetric arylation of cyclic N-sulfonyl aldimines with arylboronic acids catalyzed by a rhodium/sulfur-olefin ligand complex under mild conditions is described. A wide range 4-aryl-3,4-dihydro-1,2,3-benzoxathiazine 2,2-dioxides were obtained in extremely high yields (93-99%) and high enantiomeric purities (97-99% ee).
