Abstract:On the basis of zero curvature equations from semi-direct sums of Lie algebras, we construct integrable couplings of the Giachetti-Johnson hierarchy of soliton equations. We also establish Hamiltonian structures of the resulting integrable couplings by the variational identity. Moreover, we obtain bi-integrable couplings of the Giachetti-Johnson hierarchy and their Hamiltonian structures by applying a class of non-semisimple matrix loop algebras consisting of triangular block matrices. Abstract:In this paper, we focus on investigating a (2+1)-dimensional generalized breaking soliton (gBS) equation with five model parameters, which contains a lot of important nonlinear partial differential equations (PDEs) as its special cases. Firstly, the integrability features of two special cases of the gBS equation are clarified. Secondly, a general method is established to construct solutions formed by a combination of <math>n−cosh</math> and <math>n−cos</math> expressions. The similar results can be generalized to other PDEs which possess the Hirota bilinear forms. Thirdly, by introducing the nonzero seed solution, we obtain the real non-static lumps, lump-soliton solutions and other relevant exact solutions. The results expand the understanding of lump, freak wave and their interaction solutions in soliton theory. Moreover, various graphical analyses on the presented solutions are made to reveal the dynamic behaviors, which gives an essential improvement in the physical realizing of higher-dimensional lump waves in oceanography and nonlinear optics.

Abstract:Under investigation in this paper is a (2[Formula: see text]+[Formula: see text]1)-dimensional generalized variable-coefficient shallow water wave equation which can be reduced to several integrable equations, such as the Korteweg–de Vries (KdV) equation and the Calogero–Bogoyavlenskii–Schiff (CBS) equation. Bilinear forms, Bäcklund transformation, Lax pair and infinite conservation laws are derived based on the binary Bell polynomials. N-soliton solutions are constructed via the Hirota method. Propagation and interaction of the solitons are illustrated graphically: (i) variable coefficients affect the shape of the N-soliton interaction in the scaled space and time coordinates; (ii) positions of the solitons depend on the sign of wave numbers after each interaction; (iii) interaction of the solitons is elastic, i.e. the amplitude, velocity and shape of each soliton remain invariant after each interaction except for a phase shift.

Qualitative Theory of Dynamical Systems

Abstract:This paper mainly studies the integrability and localized wave solutions of a (2+1)-dimensional nonlinear wave equation. The bilinear form, Bäcklund transformation (BT), Lax pair and infinite conservation laws of this equation can be obtained by using Bell polynomials. The localized wave solutions including lump solutions, breather solutions and interaction solutions can be presented through Hirota's bilinear method and the ansatz method. In addition, based on mixed lump-stripe soliton solutions and mixed rogue wave-stripe soliton solutions, the fission and fusion phenomena among the lump, the single stripe soliton and the double stripe solitons are discovered. The dynamical behaviors of these localized wave solutions are analyzed by numerical simulations. These investigated solutions can enrich the study of theory for the nonlinear localized waves and are useful for the study on interaction behaviors of nonlinear waves in nonlinear optics, shallow water and oceanography.

Abstract:Nonlinear Schrödinger-type equations can model the nonlinear waves in fluids, plasmas, nonlinear optics and atmosphere. In this paper, integrable coupled nonlinear Schrödinger-type equations are investigated. With the aid of symbolic computation, the equations are transformed into their bilinear forms, by virtue of which the multi-soliton solutions are derived. Soliton interactions are analyzed, the elastic interactions are seen, while the dark, anti-dark, M- and W-shape solitons are exhibited with some parameters selected. The propagating solitons can preserve their properties after the interaction, and the profiles of them depend on the corresponding dispersion relations. The amplitudes, velocities of the solitons are found to be influenced by the coefficient of the original equations, which is detailed in the paper.

Abstract:Modern Physics Letters B, Ahead of Print. This paper constructs a new [math]-dimensional Hirota–Satsuma–Ito equation and employs the Hirota N-soliton condition to determine the conditions for the existence of N-soliton solutions. Under these conditions, the Hirota bilinear method is utilized to derive N-soliton solutions of the equation. Additionally, breather solutions of the equation are obtained through constraints on complex conjugate parameters, while lump solutions are derived using the long-wave limit method. Building upon these results, interaction solutions are also explored. Furthermore, through the multiple-rogue wave method, multi-rogue wave solutions of the [math]-dimensional Hirota–Satsuma–Ito equation are investigated. A comparison between lump solutions obtained via the Hirota bilinear method and the multi-rogue wave solutions from multiple-rogue wave method reveals significant discrepancies.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce an integrable soliton equation and present its Lax pair and bi-Hamiltonian structure. We demonstrate that this integrable equation possesses special kink waves. The relationship between the integrable soliton equation and Gardner's equation is established by a reciprocal transformation. Our study extends previous research through a comparison between the soliton equation and its generalized version.

Abstract:In this paper, based on the nonlinear fractional equations proposed by Ablowitz, Been, and Carr in the sense of Riesz fractional derivative, we explore the fractional coupled Hirota equation and give its explicit form. Unlike the previous nonlinear fractional equations, this type of nonlinear fractional equation is integrable. Therefore, we obtain the fractional n-soliton solutions of the fractional coupled Hirota equation by inverse scattering transformation in the reflectionless case. In particular, we analyze the one-and two-soliton solutions and prove that the fractional two-soliton can also be regarded as a linear superposition of two fractional single solitons as iti -oo. Moreover, we obtain the nondegenerate fractional soliton solutions and give a simple analysis for them. (c) 2023 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Abstract:The generalized coupled integrable dispersionless (CID) equation describes the current-fed string in a certain external magnetic field. In this paper, we propose a multi-component complex CID equation. The integrability of the multi-component complex equation is confirmed by constructing Lax pairs. One-soliton and two-soliton solutions are investigated to exhibit rich evolution properties. Especially, similar as the multi-component short pulse equation and the first negative AKNS equation, periodic interaction, parallel solitons, elastic and inelastic interaction, energy re-distribution happen between two solitons. Multi-soliton solutions are given in terms of Pfaffian expression by virtue of Hirota's bilinear method. (C) 2016 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Abstract:Under investigation in this paper is a set of the time-dependent Whitham-Broer-Kaup equations, which is used for the shallow water under the Boussinesq approximation. The equations can be transformed into generalized time-dependent coefficient Ablowitz-Kaup-Newell-Segur system via the variable transformation. Lax pair, infinitely-many conservation laws and bilinear forms of the Ablowitz-Kaup-Newell-Segur system are obtained. One-, two- and three-soliton solutions are derived via the Hirota bilinear method. The solitons are physically related to the horizontal velocity field and height that deviates from equilibrium position of the water. Features of the solitons are studied: Soliton amplitude is related to the wave number parameters, while the soliton velocity is related to the wave number parameters and variable coefficient. Interactions between/among the solitons could be elastic or inelastic, determined by the wave number parameters. Interaction property could not be affected by the variable coefficient. Soliton stability is studied via the numerical calculation, which indicates that the solitons could only propagate steadily in a limited time.

Abstract:In this paper, we will obtain the exact N-soliton solution of the coupled long-wave–short-wave system via the developed Hirota bilinear method. Through manipulating the relevant parameters, we will construct different types of solutions which include breather-like solutions and dark-soliton-breather-like solutions. Moreover, we will demonstrate that the interactions of two-soliton and two-breather-like solutions are all elastic through asymptotic analysis method. Finally, we will display the interactions through illustrations.

Abstract:In this paper, we obtain the coupled bright-bright and the coupled dark-dark soliton solutions for an integrable coupled semidiscrete Hirota equation (ICDHE) using the bilinear method. These solutions have both singular and nonsingular behaviors depending upon the choice of the parameters. The distinguishing feature of the ICDHE is that the singular solution can possess some nonsingular characteristics in the discrete space at some time. The asymptotic behavior of these coupled bright-bright and the coupled dark-dark solitons is studied in order to explain their collision properties.

Abstract:Staring from a new spectral problem, a hierarchy of the soliton equations is derived. It is shown that the associated hierarchies are infinite-dimensional integrable Hamiltonian systems. By the procedure of nonlinearization of the Lax pairs, the integrable decomposition of the whole soliton hierarchy is given. Further, we construct two integrable coupling systems for the hierarchy by the conception of semidirect sums of Lie algebras.

Abstract:Considering the coupled envelope equations in nonlinear couplers, the question of integrability is attempted. It is explicitly shown that Hirota's bilinear method is one of the simple and alternative techniques to Painlevé analysis to obtain the integrability conditions of the coupled nonlinear Schrödinger (CNLS) type equations. We also show that the coupled Hirota equation introduced by Tasgal and Potasek is the next hierarchy of the inverse scattering solvable CNLS equation. The results are in agreement with the known results.

Abstract:Under investigation in this paper is a variable-coefficient generalized Boussinesq system, which describes the propagation of long weakly non-linear and weakly dispersive surface waves in the shallow water. Bilinear form, Backlund transformation and Lax pair are derived by virtue of the Bell polynomials. One- and two-soliton solutions are constructed via the Hirota method. Propagation characteristics and collision behaviors of the solitons are discussed through the graphical analysis. Elastic collisions of the two bell-and periodic-shaped solitons are obtained. Head-on collision between the two solitons occurs when the sign of the two wave numbers are different; Otherwise, the overtaking collision happens.
