Abstract:We prove a nonsemisimple quantum version of Howe's duality with the rank 2n symplectic and the rank 2 special linear group acting on the exterior algebra of type C. We also discuss the first steps towards the symplectic analog of harmonic analysis on quantum spheres, give character formulas for various fundamental modules, and construct canonical bases of the exterior algebra.

Abstract:An “automatic continuity” question has naturally occurred since Roger Howe established the local theta correspondence over R \mathbb R : Does the algebraic version of local theta correspondence over R \mathbb R agree with the smooth version? We show that the answer is yes, at least when the concerning dual pair has no quaternionic type I irreducible factor.

Abstract:We show that inside the real quaternionic symplectic group ${\mathrm {Sp}}(p,q)$, every element is conjugate to its inverse. Similar result is proved for the real quaternionic orthogonal group $\mathrm{O }^{*}(2n)$. We also show that no similar result is possible in the p-adic case.

Abstract:We establish a derived geometric Satake equivalence for the quaternionic general linear group GL_n(H). By applying the real-symmetric correspondence for affine Grassmannians, we obtain a derived geometric Satake equivalence for the symmetric variety GL_2n/Sp_2n. We explain how these equivalences fit into the general framework of a geometric Langlands correspondence for real groups and the relative Langlands duality conjecture. As an application, we compute the stalks of the IC-complexes for spherical orbit closures in the quaternionic affine Grassmannian and the loop space of GL_2n/Sp_2n. We show the stalks are given by the Kostka-Foulkes polynomials for GL_n but with all degrees doubled.

Abstract:Quaternionic Hilbert spaces have important applications in quantum physics and the frame theory in quaternionic Hilbert spaces can handle many practical problems in physics. In this paper, we investigate oblique dual and g-dual frames in separable quaternionic Hilbert spaces. We provide a sufficient condition for commutativity of the oblique dual frames in quaternion Hilbert spaces. We present a parametric and algebraic formula for all oblique duals of any given frame in a closed subspace by utilizing a new (right) pre-frame operator. We prove that the canonical oblique dual has a minimum norm representation of elements in . We provide a method for constructing an oblique dual frame from two Bessel sequences. We show that g-duality relation is symmetric and get a necessary condition for g-duality of the sum of two g-dual frames. We also present a parametric expression of all g-dual frames of any given frame and show that approximate dual frame pairs form g-dual frames. We study perturbation-stability of g-dual frames.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the categorical symmetric Howe duality introduced by Khovanov, Lauda, Sussan and Yonezawa. While originally defined from a purely diagrammatic perspective, this construction also has geometric and representation-theoretic interpretations, corresponding to certain perverse sheaves on spaces of quiver representations and the category of Gelfand-Tsetlin modules over $\mathfrak{gl}_n$. In particular, we show that the "deformed Webster algebras" discussed in work of Khovanov-Lauda-Sussan-Yonezawa manifest a Koszul duality between blocks of the category of Gelfand-Tsetlin modules over $\mathfrak{gl}_n$, and the constructible sheaves on representations of a linear quiver invariant under a certain parabolic in the group that acts by changing bases. Furthermore, we show that this duality intertwines translation functors with a diagrammatic categorical action. Includes an appendix by the author and Jerry Guan.

On the Quantum Metaplectic Howe Duality

Abstract:We establish a quantum analogue of the classical metaplectic Howe duality involving the pair of Lie algebras $(\mathfrak{sp}_{2n},\mathfrak{sl}_2)$ in the case when $n=1$. Our results yield commuting representations of the pair of Drinfeld-Jimbo quantum groups $(\mathcal U_{q^2}(\mathfrak{sl}_2),\mathcal U_{q}(\mathfrak{sl}_2))$ realized in a suitable algebra of $q$-differential operators acting on the space of symplectic polynomial spinors. We obtain $q$-analogues for the symplectic Dirac operator, the Fischer decomposition, the expression for the symplectic polynomial monogenics and for the projection operators onto the monogenics. We also discuss $q$-analogues of generalized symmetries of the $q$-symplectic Dirac operator raising the homogeneous polynomial degree.

Differential Geometry and its Applications

Abstract:Penrose's two-spinor notation for 4-dimensional Lorentzian manifolds is extended to two-component notation for quaternionic manifolds, which is a useful tool for calculation. We can construct a family of quaternionic complexes over unimodular quaternionic manifolds only by elementary calculation. On complex quaternionic manifolds as complexification of quaternionic Kähler manifolds, the existence of these complexes was established by Baston by using twistor transformations and spectral sequences. Unimodular quaternionic manifolds constitute a large nice class of quaternionic manifolds: there exists a very special curvature decomposition; the conformal change of a unimodular quaternionic structure is still unimodular quaternionic; the complexes over such manifolds are conformally invariant. This class of manifolds is the real version of torsion-free QCFs introduced by Bailey and Eastwood. These complexes are elliptic. We also obtain a Weitzenböck formula to establish vanishing of the cohomology groups of these complexes for quaternionic Kähler manifolds with negative scalar curvatures.

Abstract:We give a fermionic formula for $R$-matrices of exterior powers of the vector representations of $U_q(\widehat{ \mathfrak{gl}}_N)$ and relate it to the dynamical Weyl group of Tarasov--Varchenko and Etingof--Varchenko, via a Howe ($\mathfrak{gl}_N,\mathfrak{gl}_M)$-duality. In the limit $N\to\infty$ we obtain $R$-matrices for Fock spaces. As a consequence of our result we obtain a dynamical action of the Weyl group on integrable $U_q\mathfrak{gl}_M$-modules, extending the known action on zero weight spaces. In an Appendix by Anfisa Gurenkova it is shown that the latter property also holds if we replace $\mathfrak{gl}_M$ by a general symmetrizable Kac--Moody algebra.

Vanishing of quaternionic cohomology groups and applications

Abstract:We present solutions to additive and multiplicative Cousin problems formulated on an axially symmetric domain $\Omega \subset \mathbb H$ for slice--regular functions starting from the solutions for subclasses, namely slice--regular slice--preserving functions and functions in a given vectorial class. Consequently, we prove the vanishing of the corresponding cohomology groups with respect to axially symmetric open coverings (Theorems 1.1, 4.1, 4.2). The primary tool used in the proofs of these theorems is the existence of quaternionic Cartan coverings and Cartan's splitting lemmas. As an application, we prove a jet interpolation theorem (Theorem 1.2) and show that every divisor is principal (Theorem 5.1).

Abstract:Abstract In this note, assuming the nonvanishing result of explicit theta correspondence for the symplectic–orthogonal dual pair over quaternion algebra $\mathbb {H}$ , we show that, for metapletic–orthogonal dual pair over $\mathbb {R}$ and the symplectic–orthogonal dual pair over quaternion algebra $\mathbb {H}$ , the theta correspondence is compatible with tempered condition by directly estimating the matrix coefficients, without using the classification theorem.

Abstract:We give an elementary introduction to Classical Invariant Theory and its modern extension "Transcending Classical Invariant Theory", commonly known as the theory of local theta correspondence. We explain the two fundamental assertions of the theory: the Howe duality conjecture and the Kudla-Rallis conservation relation conjecture. We give a status report on the problem of explicitly describing local theta correspondence in terms of Langlands-Vogan parameters. We conclude with a discussion on a certain problem of automatic continuity, which manifests unity of the theory in algebraic and smooth settings.

Abstract:In his article "Transcending Classical Invariant Theory" (J.A.M.S., 1989, Vol 2), Roger Howe established a correspondence between representations of a dual pair of reductive groups. This correspondence is known as Howe's correspondence or local theta correspondence. In my paper "Unitary Representations and Theta Correspondence for Classical Group of Type I"(to appear in J. Func. Anal.), we proved that theta correspondence over the real field preserves unitarity under certain restrictions, generalizing some results of Jian-Shu Li (Invent. Math., Vol 97, 1989). In this paper, we study the compositions of theta correspondences. Under certain favorable conditions, we prove that the composition of theta correspodence yields unitary representations. We call this process quantum induction. Quantum induction resembles parabolic induction in various ways. Some results in this paper were announced at ICM-2002.

Abstract:We compute the generating series for the intersection pairings between the total Chern classes of the tangent bundles of the Hilbert schemes of points on a smooth projective surface and the Chern characters of tautological bundles over these Hilbert schemes. Modulo the lower weight term, we verify Okounkov's conjecture [Oko] connecting these Hilbert schemes and multiple $q$-zeta values. In addition, this conjecture is completely proved when the surface is abelian. We also determine some universal constants in the sense of Boissi\' ere and Nieper-Wisskirchen [Boi, BN] regarding the total Chern classes of the tangent bundles of these Hilbert schemes. The main approach of this paper is to use the set-up of Carlsson and Okounkov outlined in [Car, CO] and the structure of the Chern character operators proved in [LQW2].
