Abstract:In order to apply the ITU-T G.279 voice codec Standard to application systems easily and correctly, a G.729B voice codec software using the Object-Oriented Methods is developed. Based on the analysis of user demand, the system design and implemen-tation procedures of the software are introduced. The codec sofhvare offers a simple application interface for end users and has been used in practice.

Abstract:The algorithm and hardware implementation of a high quality 600 bps vocoder based on TMS320VC55x DSP is presented in this paper.The speech coding algorithm,the hardware architecture and work flow of the vocoder system,software implementation and code optimization are introduced.Through C and assembly language mixing programming,assembly instruction optimization,memory cost and computation complexity are greatly reduced and meet the target requirement for real-time.

Abstract:Based on studying the G.729 speech coding algorithm, this paper describes the details of the ITU-T G.729 speech coder implementation using Texas Instruments' high-performance programmable TMS320C6x DSP family and the various techniques used in optimization. It can considerably reduce the calculation burden and the out speech still keeps a high reconstructed quality. This paper presents the simple techniques to extend the coder for multiple channels using a telecom application specific kernel, the multiple channel coding system can basically reach the demand of the application. Finally we give an evaluation of the real-time MCPS, memory requirements, processing delays and associate trade-offs of the coder using this DSP, and it is helpful for constructing other speech coders.

Abstract:Improving the overall performance of reliable speech communication in ultrashort wave radios over very noisy channels is of great importance and practical use. An iterative joint source-channel (de-)coding and (de-)modulation (JSCCM) algorithm is proposed for ITU-T Rec.G.729EV by both exploiting the residual redundancy and passing soft information throughout the receiver while introducing a systematic global iteration process. Being fully compatible with existing transmitter structure, the proposed algorithm does not introduce additional bandwidth expansion and transmission delay. Simulations show substantial error correcting performance and synthesized speech quality improvement over conventional separate designed systems in delay and bandwidth constraint channels by using the JSCCM algorithm.

Abstract:Aiming at real-time speech signal processing and application, an implementation scheme based on DSP chip and algorithm is presented. The G.729A encoding and decoding algorithm principles are analyzed, and a hardware platform of speech processing is constructed based on TMS320VC5416 processor and TLV320AIC23 audio codec. DSP application software is designed, McBSP connection and data transmission are configured, audio signal conversion processing is controlled, and G.729A encoding and decoding algorithm programs are optimized. Through debugging, the speech signal sampling, play and encoding/decoding functions are realized. Experimental results show the validity and feasibility of the proposed method.

Abstract:The algorithms of G.723.1 coder are analyzed and studied in this paper. Searching the large-sized codebook in this coder is still found to be time-consuming. Therefore, in order to speed up the code vector searching and optimize the algorithms, a new fast vector quantization method based on clustering analysis is put forward. The scheme of realizing the specific clustering analysis algorithm is described. Experiments and actual execution on G.723.1 coder show that its executive efficiency has been obviously improved by the optimization while its speech quality has little degradation.

Abstract:Vocoder is widely used because of its capability for coding speech at an extremely low bit rate.However,due to its internal characteristics,it usually has a very high requirement for storage and calculation,and this requirement would usually limit its applications under some circumstances.In order to solve the above problem,a 2.4kb/s low-complexity vocoder based on sinusioidally excited linear prediction(SELP) algorithm is proposed.By taking a series of improvements on the existing SELP vocoder,the newly-proposed vocoder can achieve significant reduction in both time and space complexity while maintains a high quality of synthesized speech.

This speech coder takes the good ideal of waveform interpolation, but adopts a different framework to simplify the system complexity. Band pass analysis is made to estimate the random component in the speech excitation and used to estimate contour of the random prototype in the synthesis procedure. Synthesis algorithm both in the time domain and frequency domain are studied. This paper also presents some important techniques such as one-frame look ahead pitch smoothing algorithm and parameter quantization. Abstract:LSF(Line Spectrum Frequency)quantization exploits the predictive vector quantization(VQ) in the G.729 coding speech algorithm.Prediction VQ leads to error propagation that causes speech quality degradation when the phenomenon of speech frame loss appears in speech transmission.In this paper,a new scheme of vector quantization is described to reduce the effect of error propagation.Simulation tests indicate that the new method is better than the standard technology used in G.729.

Abstract:Subjective tests show that the energy quantization precision influences synthesized speech quality in the 0.6 kb/s vocoder. An algorithm based on predictive vector quantization and dynamic allocation of bit resources improves the energy quantization precision by utilizing the fact that the pitch period is constant in unvoiced frames so that some of the bits originally allocated for pitch quantization can be re-allocated for energy quantization. The dynamically allocated bits are used to construct a second-stage codebook for better quantization of the energy parameter. Test results show that the algorithm reduces the quantization error by 70% compared with the gain-shape-based quantization algorithm.

Abstract:In-band tone signals include the single tone signals from 200/spl sim/3800 Hz and DTMF signaling. Sometimes we hope the speech vocoder would not only transmit speech signals, but it can properly transmit the in-band tone signals as well. Unfortunately most vocoders can not fulfil these needs, especially when dealing with the DTMF signals, because the DTMF signaling needs more exact representation. A general tone signal coding scheme is presented to solve this dilemma. First, a reliable tone signals detection and analyzing algorithm is studied. Based on this a coding model is presented. Since this coding model is a separable part in the vocoders, it can be easily used in many different environments such as LPC and MELP. Since the FFT is used in the spectrum analysis, the computation load of this algorithm is also trivial for most vocoders.

Abstract:The linear predictive coding technology(LPC) is a kind of important voice signal processing technology.It is widely used in the fields of estimating voice signal parameters.The theory of linear predictive coding technology and three kinds of basic implementation algorithms are introduced in this paper.The application of LPC in G.729 is studied mainly.Finally,the voice signal spectrum is analyzed using MATLAB.The experiments show that LPC is an effective way for estimating speech signal spectrum.

Abstract:OpenH323 is an open source VoIP(Voice over IP)protocol stack. It supports H.323, SIP and other multimedia communication protocols and provides a good developing platform for multimedia applications. G.723.1 is an ITU standard for speech codecs which are mainly used for medium-rate and low-rate multimedia communication applications. At present, G.723.1 has been widely used in the IP phone systems. Based on the OpenH323 software-end, realizing the G.723.1 codec has very important application value. In this paper, the realization method of G.723.1 codec on the OpenH323 protocol stack is presented, and it can be extended to G.729 and other speech codecs.

Abstract:The Continual Variable Slope Delta Modulation(CVSD) speech coding is simple and has the ability of the letter a mistake of good anti-code,especially adept at dealing with the lost and destroyed speech sampling data,compared with other methods,it's voice effect is more clearly and lower bandwidth.It has become a most important research field for the development of audio products based on audio compression coding technology by using DSP chips.In the proposed system,the hardware platform based on TMS320VC5509 DSP chip is chosen and C language is used to realize the speech codec of CVSD.It can solve the problem of the real-time realization.

Abstract:This paper makes improvement in G.728 algorithm aiming at reducing coding rate and presents an 8Kbit/s speech coding algorithm whose delay is 2.5ms. The size of frame which is 5 samples in G.728 is extended to 20 samples. Adaptive codebook is introduced, which is composed of the recent excitation.20 dimensions normalized fixed codebook is adopted for the proposed algorithm. The exact gain of adaptive and fixed codeword are calculated and quantized. Fixed quantization is used in adaptive codebook and adaptive quantization is used in fixed codebook. The size of adaptive and fixed codeword are both 128 and their gain are both 8. The whole search mode is used to obtain the best excitation in algorithm. New algorithm's coding rate is only half of G.728 and has only 2.5 ms delay. Testing with the average segment SNR and Perceptual Evaluation of Speech Quality (PESQ), the improved algorithm is close to G.728 in speech coding quality. And it achieves desirable balance in coding rate, delay time and coding quality.

Abstract:The basic principles and coding techniques of the waveform interpolation for speech analysis and reconstruction are described. The practical architecture for a 2.4 kbps vocoder based on waveform interpolation is also given. The redundancy of the pitch-cycle waveform in residual signal is removed effectively by characteristic waveform extraction and voiced/unvoiced separation. High quality reconstructed speech can be obtained at 2.4 kbps bit rate.

Abstract:According to CCITT recommendation G.722 on 7 kHz Audio Coding, wideband speech is splitted into two equal subbands by QMF. The lower band is based on simplified coding standard G.729A, and the higher band is based on lower bit rate of G.729D standard.
