Abstract:Co3O4@CoNi-layered double hydroxide (LDH) core/shell nanosheet array on Ni foam was prepared as an integrated battery-type electrode for supercapacitors by growth of CoNi-LDH nanosheets shell on the surface of Co3O4 plates core. The resulting composite material exhibits high specific capacitance (2676.9 F g(-1) at 0.5 A g(-1)) and excellent cycling stability. The improved electrochemical behavior is benefited from the typical mesoporous structure, which shorten the diffusion distance of OH-in the electrolyte and the strong core/shell binding interaction among Co3O4 and CoNi-LDH nanosheet arrays. Additionally, an assembled asymmetric supercapacitor (ASCs) device using as-fabricated Co3O4@CoNi-LDH as positive electrode and activated carbon (AC) as negative electrode also exhibits a high energy density of 61.23 Wh kg(-1) at a high power density of 750 W kg(-1), furthermore, still remains 24.8 Wh kg(-1) even at a higher power density of 7500 W kg(-1). Most importantly, a red light-emitting diode (LED) can be illuminated by two connected ASCs, indicating that assynthesized Co3O4@ CoNi-LDH possesses great potential for practical applications. As a result, this work demonstrates a feasible strategy for the design and fabrication of metal oxides/LDH composites for applications in energy storage systems.

Abstract:Co3O4@MnO2 core-shell arrays hybrid electrode directly grown on Ni foam for supercapacitor was obtained by two-step hydrothermal processes. Co3O4@MnO2 core-shell arrays hybrid electrode exhibited a high specific capacitance of 1920 F g(-1) at current density of 1 A g(-1). This was attributed to relative high conductivity of the Co3O4 nanowire arrays and the large surface area provided by the ultrathin MnO2 nanosheets. The porous MnO2 nanosheets stack provided numerous channels for rapid diffusion of electrolyte ions and fast electron transport, which enhanced the electrochemical reactions. The synergetic effect between Co3O4 nanowire and MnO2 nanosheets also improved the supercapacitor performance. Synthesis of MnO2/N-doped Ultramicroporous Carbon Nanospheres for High-Performance Supercapacitor Electrodes

Abstract:We demonstrate a simple and highly efficient strategy to synthesize MnO 2 /nitrogen-doped ultramicroporous carbon nanospheres（MnO 2 /N-UCNs） for supercapacitor application.MnO 2 /N-UCNs were fabricated via a template-free polymerization of resorcinol/formaldehyde on the surface of phloroglucinol/terephthalaldehyde colloids in the presence of hexamethylenetetramine,followed by carbonization and then a redox reaction between carbons and KMnO 4 .As-prepared MnO 2 /N-UCNs exhibits regular ultramicropores,high surface area,nitrogen heteroatom,and high content of MnO 2 .A typical MnO 2 /N-UCNs with 57 wt.%MnO 2 doping content（denoted as MnO 2 （57%）/N-UCNs） makes the most use of the synergistic effect between carbons and metal oxides.MnO 2 （57%）/N-UCNs as a supercapacitor electrode exhibits excellent electrochemical performance such as a high specific capacitance（401 F/g at 1.0 A/g） and excellent charge/discharge stability（86.3%of the initial capacitance after 10,000 cycles at 2.0 A/g） in 1.0 mol/L Na 2 SO 4 electrolyte.The well-designed and high-performance MnO 2 /N-UCNs highlight the great potential for advanced supercapacitor applications.
MnO2 Nanosheets Decorated MOF-Derived Co3O4 Triangle Nanosheet Arrays for High-Performance Supercapacitors

Abstract:In this work, hierarchical Co3O4@MnO2 nanosheet (NS) hybrid nanostructures are grown on carbon cloth by a facile method combining the metal–organic framework (MOF) templating process and electrodeposition. Due to the synergetic effect between Co3O4 triangle NSs and MnO2 NSs and the unique structure with large surface area and numerous channels for ion diffusion, the Co3O4@MnO2 core–shell NS array electrode shows good electrochemical properties with a high specific capacitance of 644.8 F g−1 at a current density of 1 A g−1, remarkable rate capability (capacitance retention of 64.5% at 20 A g−1) and excellent cycle performance (capacitance retention of 91% after 3000 cycles at 5 A g−1). The excellent electrochemical performance makes the Co3O4@MnO2 core–shell NSs promising candidates in supercapacitors.

Abstract:A facile, low-cost synthesis of MnO2@SnO2 core–shell heterostructured nanorods with superior supercapacitance is proposed. The synthesis involves sensitizing MnO2 nanorods with an aqueous SnCl2 solution to ensure the formation of a thin, uniform, and complete shell layer. The SnO2 coatings have rough surfaces and their thickness is about 18nm. The MnO2@SnO2 composites have a specific capacitance of 367.5F/g at 50mV/s in 1M Na2SO4, which is about four and six times of the pure MnO2 nanorods and SnO2 products. Meanwhile, they have 91.3% capacitance retention over 2000 cycles, which is much better than pure MnO2 nanorods. The remarkable performances with a low-cost imply that they have potential for supercapacitors applications.

Abstract:Manganese dioxide (MnO2) with large theoretical capacity, low cost and rich reserves has been considered as one of the most promising advanced electrode materials of supercapacitors, but the shortage of electrochemical active sites and the inherent defects of electrical conductivity hinder its widespread application in high-performance supercapacitors. Herein, the hierarchical core-shell nanostructure has been rationally designed by coating highly electrically conductive Co9S8 on MnO2 arrays on Ni foam (MnO2@Co9S8/NF) using a simple solution-based method. The prepared MnO2@Co9S8/NF exhibits a high specific capacitance of 643.3 C g−1 at 3 mA cm−2, which is 3.4 and 10.1 times higher than the Co3O4@MnO2 and pristine MnO2 electrodes, respectively. Moreover, the asymmetric supercapacitor (ASC) with MnO2@Co9S8 composite electrode provides a high areal capacitance of 1540 mC cm−2 and a maximum energy density of 346.5 μW h cm−2 (35 Wh kg−1) at the power density of 2376 μW cm−2 (240 W kg−1). Importantly, the excellent cycling life with a capacitance retention of 97.5% after 36,000 cycles indicates the good stability of the core-shell structure of the composite electrode. These superior electrochemical properties of current materials are comparable to the most advanced MnO2-based electrodes for supercapacitors.

Abstract:3D Co3O4@CoMoO4 core–shell architectures directly grown on nickel foam for supercapacitor electrode were obtained by two-step hydrothermal process. The Co3O4@CoMoO4 nanocomposites electrode exhibited higher capacitance than Co3O4 nanowire electrode. Maximum specific capacitance of 2530Fg−1 was obtained at current density of 1Ag−1 for Co3O4@CoMoO4 core–shell architectures. In addition, after 3000cycles of continuous galvanostatic charge–discharge cycles, only about 3.7% degradation in specific capacitance could be noticed. The CoMoO4 nanorods stack on Co3O4 nanowires arrays allowed facile electrolyte movement during charge or discharge process and provided more active sites for the electrochemical reactions. The unique architecture had a large interfacial area and numerous channels for rapid diffusion of electrolyte ions and fast electron transport. In addition, the synergetic effect between Co3O4 nanowire and CoMoO4 nanorods also improved the supercapacitor performance.

Abstract:Three-dimensional (3D) hierarchical CoMn2O4@Co3O4 core/shell nanoneedle/nanosheet arrays for high-performance supercapacitors were designed and synthesized on Ni foam by a two-step hydrothermal route. The hybrid nanostructure exhibits much more excellent capacitive behavior compared with either the pristine CoMn2O4 nanoneedle arrays alone or Co3O4 nanosheets alone. The formation of an interconnected pore hybrid system is quite beneficial for the facile electrolyte penetration and fast electron transport. The CoMn2O4@Co3O4 electrode can achieve a high specific capacitance of 1627 F g-1 at 1 A g-1 and 1376 F g-1 at 10 A g-1. In addition, an asymmetric supercapacitor (ASC) was assembled by using the CoMn2O4@Co3O4 core/shell hybrid nanostructure arrays on Ni foam as a positive electrode and activated carbon as a negative electrode in an aqueous 3 M KOH electrolyte. A specific capacitance of 125.8 F g-1 at 1 A g-1 (89.2% retention after 5000 charge/discharge cycles at a current density of 2 A g-1) and a high energy density of 44.8 W h kg-1 was obtained. The results indicate that the obtained unique integrated CoMn2O4@Co3O4 nanoarchitecture may show great promise as ASC electrodes for potential applications in energy storage.

Abstract:One-dimensional MnO2@C@Ni(OH)2 core–shell nanowires were successfully synthesized by simple hydrothermal and chemical bath method. The MnO2@C@Ni(OH)2 core–shell nanowires showed a high capacitance of 1595.4 F g−1 at 1 A g−1 as supercapacitor electrode material. After 6000 cycles, the cyclic reservation rate was about 82.3%, informing the good cycling stability. The asymmetric supercapacitor composed of MnO2@C@Ni(OH)2 as positive electrode and activated carbon as negative electrode exhibited high energy density of 39.78 Wh kg−1. This research provides that the fabricated MnO2@C@Ni(OH)2 core–shell nanowires will be the promising supercapacitors materials in the future.

The Structure-Stabilized Co3O4@Co9S8 Core-Shell Nanorods Synthesized by In-Situ Sulfuration of Co3O4 for High-Performance Supercapacitors

Abstract:In this work, we design and prepare Co3O4@Co9S8 core-shell nanorods by hydrothermal method, which the core is Co3O4 nanowires and the shell is Co9S8 nanosheets, and the nanorods interconnected between the core and shell are evenly distributed on nickel foam. More importantly, this hierarchical core-shell structure enables Co3O4@Co9S8 to possess large surface area and more efficient ion diffusion path when used as an electrode material, thereby providing a satisfactory specific capacity (it can reach 1545.1 C/g at 1 Aug), good rate performance (capacity value is 934 C/g at 20 Aug, the retention rate is 60%) and cycling stability (retention rate is still 81% after 1000 cycles). What's more, an asymmetric supercapacitor is prepared using activated carbon as the negative electrode and Co3O4@Co9S8 as the positive electrode and it shows the energy density of 26.1 Wh/Kg at power density of 871.6 W/Kg. Moreover, it has surprising stability, losing only 7.5% of its specific capacity after 10,000 cycles. As expected, the LEDs with different colors are successfully driven by as-prepared Co3O4@Co9S8 HAC device, showing exciting application prospects of Co3O4@Co9S8 as an electrode material. Abstract:Hierarchical mesoporous core-shell CoMn2O4@MnO2 nanoneedle arrays on nickel foam have been manufactured via a two-step hydrothermal process. Electrochemical performances of the CoMn2O4@MnO2 nanomaterials have been tested for supercapacitors and demonstrated outstanding properties. The CoMn2O4@MnO2 electrode delivers a specific capacitance of 2126 F g(-1) at a current density of 1 A g(-1) in 2 M KOH aqueous solution and also shows an excellent cycling stability, which retains 94.4% of the initial capacitance after 5000 charge/discharge cycles at a current density of 4 A g(-1). The result confirms the superiority of the CoMn2O4@MnO2 electrode compared with the CoMn2O4 electrode and demonstrates the potential application of the CoMn2O4@MnO2 nanoneedle array electrode for high-performance energy storage device applications.
Facile Synthesis of Homogeneous Core-Shell Co3O4 Mesoporous Nanospheres As High Performance Electrode Materials for Supercapacitor

Abstract:Homogeneous core-shell Co3O4 mesoporous nanospheres are successfully fabricated by virtue of a solvothermal method and subsequent rapid calcination treatment. Note that the solid precursor nanospheres turn into homogeneous core-shell Co3O4 nanostructure only after 10 min of calcination. The stacking density of sub-nanoparticles and the thickness of the Co3O4 shell can be well adjusted by altering the annealing time. A formation mechanism based on a thermally driven contraction process caused by non-equilibrium heat treatment is proposed. The tunable mesoporous and core-shell structure can effectively facilitate the ions and electrons transportation and meanwhile accommodate the strain of oxide electrode upon cycling. Consequently, the optimal core-shell Co3O4 electrode exhibits a high specific capacitance of 837.7 Fg(-1) at 1 A g(-1) and good capacitance retention of 87.0% after 2000 cycles at a high current density of 5 A g(-1) . More importantly, it possesses an excellent rate capability with high capacitance retention of 93.6% when the current density raises from 1 to 10 A g(-1) . Besides, an asymmetric supercapacitor (ASC) is constructed using the core-shell Co3O4 nanospheres as positive electrode and graphene aerogel as negative electrode. The ASC delivers a high specific capacitance of 101.4 F g(-1) at 1 A g(-1) and an energy density of 35.8 Wh kg(-1) at a power density of 797.4 W kg(-1) . Moreover, the assembled ASC displays a good cycling stability with 88.2% capacitance retention after 2000 cycles at 1 Ag-1 . Abstract:In this study, we successfully synthesized the sandwich-type NiMn2O4@N-C@MnO2 core-shell nanostructures. The NiMn2O4@N-C@MnO2 had a unique structure compared with the core-shell nanostructures previously reported. The microvillous nitrogen-doped carbon (NC) was considered as a highly conductive material, similar to a highway network, which facilitated the transport of electrons, improved the conductivity of core-shell nanomaterials, and acted as a buffer during the repeated charge-discharge cycles, thereby improving the overall stability of the nanomaterials. The introduction of N could increase the active sites for a redox reaction to a certain extent. Among all the prepared electrodes, NiMn2O4@N-C@MnO2-2 exhibited excellent performance. The NiMn2O4@N-C@MnO2-2//AC BSH device achieved an energy density of 34.29 W h kg−1 at a current density of 10 mA cm−2 when the power density was 946.75 W kg−1. In addition, the device retained 96.68 % of the initial specific capacitance after charge-discharge 30,000 cycles, which was better than most related studies previously reported. The excellent electrochemical performance of the device indicates that sandwich-type NiMn2O4@N-C@MnO2 core-shell nanomaterials have great application potential in the development of energy storage and conversion equipment.

Abstract:The Co3O4@NiO composite electrode materials were successfully synthesized by a two-step hydrothermal method followed by annealing treatment. Due to their three-dimensional network structure, these composite materials exhibited a large specific surface area, enhancing their electrochemical performance. Consequently, the Co3O4@NiO electrode demonstrated a specific capacitance of 1306 F g-1 at a current density of 1 A g-1, an excellent specific capacitance retention rate of 95.5% after 3000 cycles even at 8 A g-1 and a coulombic efficiency approaching 100 %. These outstanding properties make the Co3O4@NiO composite materials as the promising electrode materials for high performance supercapacitors.

Abstract:Novel and complex mesoporous 2D and 3D architectures of the oxide semiconductor Co3O4, including nanosheets, nearly monodisperse microspheres that are self-assembled from nanosheets, and copper-coin-like nanosheets, have been synthesized through a facile binary-solution route and sequential thermal decomposition at atmospheric pressure. The influence of different reaction conditions on the morphology of the products has been discussed in detail. The results revealed that the volume ratio of H2O and ethanolamine (EA) play a crucial role in the morphology of the precursor. The thermal decomposition of the corresponding precursor leads to the formation of the mesoporous structure. The products have been characterized by X-ray diffraction techniques, field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high-resolution TEM (HRTEM), and Raman spectroscopy. The electrochemical properties of the Co3O4 electrodes were investigated by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and galvanostatic charge-discharge measurements. The electrochemical experiments revealed that the specific capacitance of the Co3O4 nanosheets was higher than that of the Co3O4 microspheres in a KOH electrolyte solution (3 M). Furthermore, the Co3O4, nanosheet electrodes exhibited good rate capabilities, and maintained 93% of the initial capacity at a current density of 5 mA cm(-2) in a KOH (3 M) electrolyte solution. The results show that Co3O4 nanosheets might have potential applications as electrode materials for supercapacitors.

Abstract:Hierarchical Co3O4@MnO2 core–shell arrays on Ni foam have been fabricated by a facile hydrothermal approach and further investigated as the electrode for high-performance supercapacitors. Owing to the high conductivity of the well-defined mesoporous Co3O4 nanowire arrays in combination with the large surface area provided by the ultrathin MnO2 nanosheets, the unique designed Co3O4@MnO2 core–shell arrays on Ni foam have exhibited a high specific capacitance (560 F g−1 at a current density of 0.2 A g−1), good rate capability, and excellent cycling stability (95% capacitance retention after 5000 cycles). An asymmetric supercapacitor with Co3O4@MnO2 core–shell nanostructure as the positive electrode and activated microwave exfoliated graphite oxide activated graphene (MEGO) as the negative electrode yielded an energy density of 17.7 Wh kg−1 and a maximum power density of 158 kW kg−1. The rational design of the unique core–shell array architectures demonstrated in this work provides a new and facile approach to fabricate high-performance electrode for supercapacitors.

MnHCF/MnO 2 Core-shell Nanostructures As Cathode Material for Supercapacitors with High Energy Density

Abstract:A nanocomposite of manganese dioxide coated manganese hexacyanoferrate was synthesized by a facile co-precipitation method and tested as active electrode material for an electrochemical supercapacitor. A way called Deep electro-oxidation was used to generate manganese dioxide coated layer for stabilizing the electrode material. The structure and ingredient of the resulting MnHCF/MnO2 composites were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy. Electrochemical testing showed a capacitance of 225.6 F/g at a sweep rate of 5 mV/s within a voltage range of 1.3 V, and high energy density of 37.2 Wh/kg at a current density of 0.5 A/g in galvanostatic charge/discharge cycling. It is suggested that the two different components, manganese hexacyanoferrate core and manganese dioxide shell, lead to an integrated electrochemical behavior, and an enhanced capacitor. The electrochemical testing and corresponding XPS analysis also demonstrated that the manganese coordinated by cyanide groups via nitrogen atoms in MnHCF did not get involved in the charge storage process during potential cycles.
