Abstract:The U(1) axial-vector form factor is studied using an unsubtracted dispersion relation. The associated axial charge is shown to be analytic in quark masses in the chiral limit although individual terms in the Cheng-Li separation exhibit large isospin and flavor-SU(3) symmetry breaking. A new separation of the U(1) axial charge is proposed, based on the wave functions of the physical states entering in the spectral density.

Abstract:Motivated by the similar mass splitting in light-light and heavy-light J(P) = 0(-) and J(P) = 0(+) mesons, the SU(3)-symmetry breaking effects splitting the masses in the 0(-) and 0(+) channels of the D meson are analyzed in the framework of QCD sum rules with an underlying c (q) over bar structure. We take into account operator mixing to obtain an infrared stable operator-product expansion method including complete nonperturbative and perturbative O(m(q)) corrections to the correlation function. With the same threshold for both channels, the mass splitting arising from the sum rules has the same behavior as the observed spectrum. In particular, we obtain m(Ds) - m(Dd) similar to 35 MeV in the 0(-) channel and m(Dd) - m(Ds) similar to 12 MeV in the 0(+) channel at a renormalization scale mu = 1 GeV. The splitting can be attributed to the different roles of mass effects and the parity-dependent "force" induced from nonperturbative QCD vacuum. Further analysis shows that due to this parity-dependent force it is natural that the mass gap of the two states in the 0(-) channel is larger than the 0(+) channel. When we increase the renormalization scale to mu = 1: 3 GeV the splitting remains unchanged which demonstrates a correct scale invariance. Combined with heavy quark effective theory, generalizations to other channels of charmed mesons and b-systems are briefly discussed.

Abstract:A general expression of the axial-vector current is presented, in which both the effects of the chiral symmetry breaking and the spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking are included. A new resonance formula of the axial-vector meson is derived and in the limit of $q^{2}\rightarrow 0$ this formula doesn't go back to the ``chiral limit``. The studies show that the dominance of the axial-vector meson is associated with the satisfaction of PCAC. The dominance of pion exchange is companied by the strong anomaly of PCAC.

On Duality of Four Dimensional 𝒩=1 Gauge Theory

Abstract:We show that Seiberg-like duality of 𝒩=1 gauge theory coupledwith tensor chiral fields and fundamental chiral fields works if the mesonspectrum built from the tensor fields takes particular form: a) It should betruncated; b) The R charges of tensor fields {R_a} and the truncatedmesons {R_j} take very special values. The meson spectrum so that theduality works is encoded elegantly in the factorization of the polynomialy^n-1=Φ_+Φ_-. Our consideration covers many known 𝒩=1dualities and generates a large class of new examples.

Abstract:We propose a mechanism which explains the masses of $\eta$ and $\eta'$ mesons without invoking the explicit violation of $U(1)_A$ symmetry by the chiral anomaly. It is shown that the U(1) problem, the problem for which the prediction of $\eta$ and $\eta'$ masses in the simple chiral perturbation theory largely deviates from the experimental values, is actually resolved by considering the first order contribution of the disconnected meson correlator with respect to the quark mass. The bound of Weinberg $m_\eta^2 \le 3 m_\pi^2$ is fulfilled by considering the negative squared mass of $\eta$ or $\eta'$ which is just the saddle point of the QCD effective potential, and 20% level agreements with experimental data are obtained by just fitting one low energy constant. We provide the leading chiral Lagrangian due to the disconnected contribution in 3-flavor QCD, and also discuss the 2- and 4-flavor cases as well as the consistency of our mechanism with the chiral restoration at high temperature found in lattice calculations.

Abstract:We investigate chiral properties of local (nonderivative) fields of baryons consisting of three quarks with flavor SU(3) symmetry. We construct explicitly independent local three-quark fields belonging to definite Lorentz and flavor representations. Chiral symmetry is spontaneously broken and therefore the baryon fields can have different chiral representations. Because of the color antisymmetric and spatially symmetric structure of the local three- quark fields, the allowed chiral representations are strongly correlated with the Lorentz group representations. We discuss some implications of the allowed chiral symmetry representations on physical quantities such as the axial coupling constants.

Abstract:In this paper, we present the full Lagrangian of mesons (pseudoscalars, vectors and axial-vectors) to O(p 4) by using the explicit global chiral symmetry and hidden local symmetry in the chiral limit. In this approach, we see that there are many other terms besides the usual eleven terms given in the literature from a hidden local symmetry approach. In particular, there are some terms in our full results which are important for understanding the vector meson dominance and $\pi$-$\pi$ scattering and providing consistent predictions on the decay rates of $a_1\rightarrow\gamma\pi$ and $a_1\rightarrow\rho\pi$ as well as for constructing a consistent effective chiral Lagrangian with chiral perturbation theory. It is likely that the structures of the effective chiral Lagrangian for O(p 4) given in the literature by using hidden local symmetry are incomplete and consequently the resulting couplings are not reliable. We examine the issue that the more general effective chiral Lagrangian given in the present paper can provide more consistent predictions for the low energy phenomenology of the $\rho$-a 1 system and result in more consistent descriptions on the low energy behavior of light flavor mesons.

Abstract:It was recently shown that 3 d = 1 supersymmetric Wess-Zumino models can be studied in the ε -expansion by analytically continuing the number of fermionic degrees of freedom to be half-integer. In this work we study the extension of this strategy to gauge theories. We consider U(1) gauge theories with N g neutral Majorana fermions χ a , N f charge-1 bosons φ i and N f × N g charge-1 Dirac fermions ψ ia in the d = 4 − 2 ε expansion. Analytically continuing to N g = schematically matches the Lagrangian and matter content of 3 d = 1 SQED, and we check whether this match can be made rigorous. We compute anomalous dimensions of χ a up to two loops and of meson operators up to one loop at the fixed points, and compare to expectations from SUSY. While we find obstructions to SUSY at small N f , at large N f the observables approach the expected values at a SUSY fixed point. This may allow for checks of 3 d = 1 IR dualities between gauge theories.

A new symmetry breaking-axial-vector symmetry breaking is found and applied to EW theory. The masses of W and Z are dynamically generated and in agreement with data.

Abstract:The axial-vector Ward-Takahashi identity is used to derive mass formulas for neutral pseudoscalar mesons. Flavor symmetry breaking entails nonideal flavor content for these states. Adding that the eta(') is not a Goldstone mode, exact chiral-limit relations are developed from the identity. They connect the dressed-quark propagator to the topological susceptibility. It is confirmed that in the chiral limit the eta(') mass is proportional to the matrix element which connects this state to the vacuum via the topological susceptibility. The implications of the mass formulas are illustrated using an elementary dynamical model, which includes an Ansatz for that part of the Bethe-Salpeter kernel related to the non-Abelian anomaly. In addition to the current-quark masses, the model involves two parameters, one of which is a mass-scale. It is employed in an analysis of pseudoscalar- and vector-meson bound-states. While the effects of SU(N-f = 2) and SU(N-f = 3) flavor symmetry breaking are emphasized, the five-flavor spectra are described. Despite its simplicity, the model is elucidative and phenomenologically efficacious; e.g., it predicts eta-eta(') mixing angles of similar to -15(degrees) and pi(0)-eta angles of similar to 1(degrees).

Abstract:Dirac’s monopole is generalized to SU2 gauge fields in five-dimensional flat space or four-dimensional spherical space. The generalized fields have SO5 symmetry. The method used is related to the concept of orthogonal gauge fields which is developed in an appendix. The angular momenta operators for the SO5 symmetrical fields are given.

Abstract:In this paper, U(3)(L)xU(3)(R) chiral theory of mesons is extended to the leading order in quark mass expansion in order to evaluate the rho(0) - omega mixing. It is shown that the use of path integral method to integrate out the quark fields naturally leads to the rho(0) - omega mixing vertices, and this mixing is entirely from the quark loop in this theory. The off-shell behaviour of the mixing amplitude is analyzed. The on-shell mixing amplitude is obtained from the decay omega --> pi(+)pi(-). Furthermore, the constraints on the light quark mass parameters are extracted from the rho(0) - omega mixing and the :mesons masses, and the mass splitting of K*(892)-mesons is predicted.

Abstract:Using a confining, symmetry-preserving regularization of a vector x vector contact interaction, we compute the spectra of ground-state pseudoscalar and vector of (f (g) over bar) mesons, scalar and axial-vector (fg) diquarks, and J(P) = 1/2(+), 3/2(+) (fgh) baryons, where f, g, h is an element of {u, d, s, c, b}. The diquark correlations are essentially dynamical and play a key role in formulating and solving the three-valence-quark baryon problems. The baryon spectrum obtained from this largely algebraic approach reproduces the 22 known experimental masses with an accuracy of 2.9(2.4)%. It also possesses the richness of states typical of constituent-quark models, predicting many heavy-quark baryons not yet observed. This study indicates that diquark correlations are an important component of all baryons; and owing to the dynamical character of the diquarks, it is typically the lightest allowed diquark correlation that defines the most important component of a baryon's Faddeev amplitude.
