Abstract:Electromagnetic mass difference between neutral $K^*$ and charged $K^*$ has been calculated in the $U(3)_L\times U(3)_R$ chiral fields theory of mesons. It has been revealed that the non-abelian gauge structure of the massive Yang-Mills lagrangian obeyed by $K^*$ plus VMD (vector meson dominace) causes the EM-mass of neutral one larger than charged one. Experiment supports this effect.

Abstract:Lattice QCD provides a promising method of addressing the elusive non-perturbative aspect of hadronic physics. It may be used in an investigation of underlying quark dynamics which is not based on model dependent calculations. The study of electromagnetic form factors allows a comparison of the predictions of the quark model and the Skyrme model with those of non-perturbative model independent approaches such as Lattice QCD and the QCD Sum Rule method. The first lattice calculations of electroma~etic form factors focussed on the electric form factor of the pion with SU(2) color [I]. These were later extended to SU(3) color [2]. Calculations of the electric form factor of the proton followed [3]. Most recently, both the electric and magnetic form factors of the proton and neutron were calculated [4]. Here the analysis of reference [4] is extended to calculate the electromagnetic form factors of the octet baryons. Electric and magnetic form factors have been calculated (from twoand three-point baryon correlation functions) on a quenched 24 x 12 x 12 x 24 lattice with p = 5.9. A small value of momentum transfer (I&X = 2x/24) was investigated for three values of quark mass (K = 0.152,0.154,0.156). nom these form factors, electric and magnetic charge radii, magnetic moments and magnetic transition moments have been extracted. More details of the method of calculation as outlined in reference j4] are provided in reference [5]. The results illustrate the manner in which quarks account for the electromagnetic structure of baryons. An outstanding problem of hadronic physics has been to explain the magnetic moments of baryons. In figure 1, we have collected recent results of alternative approaches to the strong interaction. The results of SU(6) symmetry, the sum rule approach [S], our lattice calculation, a recent quark model [7], and the Skyrme model [8] are compared to experimental ratios of magnetic moments. (The experimental and sum rule results for Co are obtained using the SU(2) relationship ~E:D = (PC+ + lc-)f2.) The quark model results differ significantly from those of the simple quark model only in the value of the Cmagnetic ratio which has been shifted from -0.391 to -0.505. The quark model (with four parameters) does not reproduce the magnetic moment ratios as well as the sum rule or lattice results. Only the N and A magnetic ratios are accurately reproduced. The Skyrme model (with two parameters) reverses the order of many of the SU(6) partners. The results of the sum rule approach (which has vacuum susceptibility parameters optimized to give the best agreement with experimental magnetic moments) are very similar to those of the lattice with the exception of the 2where non-perturbative and strange-quark mass effects are very large in the sum rule calculation.
On the masses of light pseudoscalar mesons

Abstract:We investigate the masses of light pseudoscalar mesons by the method based on a new anomaly free condition for axial vector current. By this viewpoint, the field theories discussed here do not have the $U(1)$ problem. We calculate the masses of nine light pseudoscalar mesons, with theoretical result agrees reasonably good with experiment.

Abstract:We systematically investigate the electromagnetic form factors of heavy-light pseudo-scalar and vector mesons within the Dyson-Schwinger/Bethe-Salpeter equations framework for the first time. It is found that the charge radius of vector meson is larger than that of its pseudo-scalar counterpart. In heavy-light systems, the flavor symmetry breaking will lead to a splitting of the form factor of different quark, and the distribution range of lighter and heavier quark gradually expands and contracts, respectively. The competition between them together generates the electromagnetic form factors of meson. Our results can be compared with other theoretical calculations and future experimental data.

Abstract:We use the Cottingham method to calculate the pion and kaon electromagnetic mass differences with as few model dependent inputs as possible. The constraints of chiral symmetry at low energy, QCD at high energy and experimental data in between are used in the dispersion relation. We find excellent agreement with experiment for the pion mass difference. The kaon mass difference exhibits a strong violation of the lowest order prediction of Dashen's theorem, in qualitative agreement with several other recent calculations.

Abstract:We study medium modifications of the nucleon electromagnetic form factors in the vector meson dominance model. The in-medium vector meson masses are taken from a chiral SU(3) model. We find that the electric and magnetic form factors of the bound nucleon deviate considerably from those of the free nucleon. Our results are comparable to the results from the quark meson coupling model approach and are consistent with present experimental limits.
SU(3)-symmetry Breaking Effects and Mass Splitting in Scalar and Pseudoscalar D Mesons from QCD Sum Rules

Abstract:Motivated by the similar mass splitting in light-light and heavy-light J(P) = 0(-) and J(P) = 0(+) mesons, the SU(3)-symmetry breaking effects splitting the masses in the 0(-) and 0(+) channels of the D meson are analyzed in the framework of QCD sum rules with an underlying c (q) over bar structure. We take into account operator mixing to obtain an infrared stable operator-product expansion method including complete nonperturbative and perturbative O(m(q)) corrections to the correlation function. With the same threshold for both channels, the mass splitting arising from the sum rules has the same behavior as the observed spectrum. In particular, we obtain m(Ds) - m(Dd) similar to 35 MeV in the 0(-) channel and m(Dd) - m(Ds) similar to 12 MeV in the 0(+) channel at a renormalization scale mu = 1 GeV. The splitting can be attributed to the different roles of mass effects and the parity-dependent "force" induced from nonperturbative QCD vacuum. Further analysis shows that due to this parity-dependent force it is natural that the mass gap of the two states in the 0(-) channel is larger than the 0(+) channel. When we increase the renormalization scale to mu = 1: 3 GeV the splitting remains unchanged which demonstrates a correct scale invariance. Combined with heavy quark effective theory, generalizations to other channels of charmed mesons and b-systems are briefly discussed.

Abstract:We describe a symmetry-preserving calculation of the light-quark meson spectrum, which combines a description of pion properties with reasonable estimates of the masses of heavier mesons, including axial-vector states. The kernels used in formulating the problem are essentially nonperturbative, incorporating effects of dynamical chiral symmetry breaking (DCSB) that were not previously possible to express. Our analysis clarifies a causal connection between DCSB and the splitting between vector and axial-vector mesons and exposes a key role played by the anomalous chromomagnetic moment of dressed quarks in forming the spectrum.

Abstract:Using a confining, symmetry-preserving regularization of a vector x vector contact interaction, we compute the spectra of ground-state pseudoscalar and vector of (f (g) over bar) mesons, scalar and axial-vector (fg) diquarks, and J(P) = 1/2(+), 3/2(+) (fgh) baryons, where f, g, h is an element of {u, d, s, c, b}. The diquark correlations are essentially dynamical and play a key role in formulating and solving the three-valence-quark baryon problems. The baryon spectrum obtained from this largely algebraic approach reproduces the 22 known experimental masses with an accuracy of 2.9(2.4)%. It also possesses the richness of states typical of constituent-quark models, predicting many heavy-quark baryons not yet observed. This study indicates that diquark correlations are an important component of all baryons; and owing to the dynamical character of the diquarks, it is typically the lightest allowed diquark correlation that defines the most important component of a baryon's Faddeev amplitude.
Electromagnetism in Quark-Antiquark Bound States

Abstract: Non-perturbative proof is presented of a unique version of Goldstone theorem, that electromagnetism contributes to the masses of spinless particles of quark-antiquark bound states in the form of a commutator of the quark electric matrix and a coefficient factor which may be expressed simply in terms of a three-body Bethe-Salpeter amplitude, in the case where the Lagrangian conserves an approximate $SU(3)$ chiral symmetry. The coupled Bethe-Salpeter equation and Dyson-Schwinger equation in the ladder-rainbow approximation are layed out with every ingredient renormalized, which are applied to the problem of evaluating the mass differences of some charged and neutral pseudoscalar and vector mesons. The numerical results yield satisfactory agreement with experimental observations for the mass spectrum and meson decay constants. Estimates of the light quark masses are also given in the Bethe-Salpeter formalism.
Elastic Electromagnetic Form Factors of Vector Mesons

Abstract:A symmetry-preserving approach to the two valence-body continuum bound-state problem is used to calculate the elastic electromagnetic form factors of the $\rho$-meson and subsequently to study the evolution of vector-meson form factors with current-quark mass. To facilitate a range of additional comparisons, $K^\ast$ form factors are also computed. The analysis reveals that: vector mesons are larger than pseudoscalar mesons; composite vector mesons are non-spherical, with magnetic and quadrupole moments that deviate $\sim 30$\% from point-particle values; in many ways, vector-meson properties are as much influenced by emergent mass as those of pseudoscalars; and vector meson electric form factors possess a zero at spacelike momentum transfer. Qualitative similarities between the electric form factors of the $\rho$ and the proton, $G_E^p$, are used to argue that the character of emergent mass in the Standard Model can force a zero in $G_E^p$. Morover, the existence of a zero in vector meson electric form factors entails that a single-pole vector meson dominance model can only be of limited use in estimating properties of off-shell vector mesons, providing poor guidance for systems in which the Higgs-mechanism of mass generation is dominant.

Abstract:Based on an extended NJL model including heavy quark flavors, we calculate the form factors of pseudoscalar and vector mesons. After taking into account the vector-meson-dominance effect, which introduces a form factor correction to the quark vector coupling vertices, the form factors and electric radii of pi(+) and K+ pseudo-scalar mesons in the light flavor sector fit the experimental data well. The magnetic moments of the light vector mesons rho(+) and K*(+) are comparable with other theoretical calculations. The form factors in the light-heavy flavor sector are presented to compare with future experiments or other theoretical calculations.

Abstract:The axial-vector Ward-Takahashi identity is used to derive mass formulas for neutral pseudoscalar mesons. Flavor symmetry breaking entails nonideal flavor content for these states. Adding that the eta(') is not a Goldstone mode, exact chiral-limit relations are developed from the identity. They connect the dressed-quark propagator to the topological susceptibility. It is confirmed that in the chiral limit the eta(') mass is proportional to the matrix element which connects this state to the vacuum via the topological susceptibility. The implications of the mass formulas are illustrated using an elementary dynamical model, which includes an Ansatz for that part of the Bethe-Salpeter kernel related to the non-Abelian anomaly. In addition to the current-quark masses, the model involves two parameters, one of which is a mass-scale. It is employed in an analysis of pseudoscalar- and vector-meson bound-states. While the effects of SU(N-f = 2) and SU(N-f = 3) flavor symmetry breaking are emphasized, the five-flavor spectra are described. Despite its simplicity, the model is elucidative and phenomenologically efficacious; e.g., it predicts eta-eta(') mixing angles of similar to -15(degrees) and pi(0)-eta angles of similar to 1(degrees).
The electromagnetic form factors in the $N_{f}=4$ holographic QCD

Abstract:In this study, we employ a modified soft-wall holographic model with four flavors to investigate the meson spectra, decay constants, electromagnetic form factors, and charge radius of various mesons. We obtain the spectra for vector, axial vector, and pseudoscalar mesons. Decay constants are calculated and compared with experimental and lattice QCD data. The pion and kaon electromagnetic form factors are compared with the experimental data, and a good agreement is achieved for the kaon at low $Q^{2}$. For the charmed mesons, the electromagnetic form factors of the $D$ and $D_{s}$ and electric form factors of the $D^{*}$ and $D_{s}^{*}$ are well consistent with the lattice QCD data. Moreover, the electric, magnetic, and quadrupole form factors are predicted for the $\rho$, $K^{*}$, $a_1$, $K_1$, $D_1$, and $D_{s1}$ mesons. Furthermore, the charge radius of the vector, axial vector, and pseudoscalars, including the strange and charmed mesons, are computed.

Abstract:We present a detailed survey of electric, magnetic and quadrupole form factors of light and heavy spin-1 vector mesons. It complements our analogous analysis of the electromagnetic form factors of pseudoscalar and scalar mesons reported earlier. Our formalism is based upon the Schwinger-Dyson equations treatment of a vector $\times$ vector contact interaction and the Bethe-Salpeter equation description of relativistic two-body bound states. We compute the form factors, associated moments and charge radii, comparing these quantities to earlier theoretical studies and experimental results if and when possible. We also investigate the quark-mass dependence of the charge radii and find the anticipated hierarchy such that it decreases with increasing dressed quark masses. In addition, our analysis shows that the magnetic moment is independent of the mass of the light and heavy mesons. Our results agree with most measurements reported earlier, finding a negative quadrupole moment, implying the charge distribution is oblate.

Abstract:We combine the Dyson-Schwinger/Bethe-Salpeter equations framework with modern numerical reconstruction methods to derive the three-dimensional and transverse two-dimensional charge distribution of an array of ground-state pseudoscalar and vector mesons from their elastic electromagnetic form factor in the low-momentum region. The charge radii obtained by averaging over the reconstructed charge distributions have been checked to be consistent with those calculated from the slope of the elastic electromagnetic form factor at zero transferred momentum. The capability of the reconstruction procedure for capturing a reliable low-distance charge distribution is discussed and argued to work down to distances of around 0.1 fm, such that it might be potentially applied to extract, {\it e.g.}, mass densities from gravitational form factors.

Abstract:We study the low-lying scalar mesons of light u, d, s flavors in the QCD sum rule. Having all possible combinations of tetraquark currents in the local form, QCD sum rule analysis has been carefully performed. We found that using the appropriate tetraquark currents, the masses of σ, κ, f0 and a0 mesons appear in the region of 0.6–1 GeV with the expected ordering. The results are compared with that of the conventional q¯q currents, where the masses are considerably larger.

Abstract:A current algebra based effective chiral theory of pseudoscalar, vector, axial-vector mesons is reviewed. A new mechanism generating the masses and guage fixing terms of gauge boson is revealed from this effective theory. A EW theory without Higgs is proposed. The masses and gauge fixing terms of W and Z are dynamically generated. Three heavy scalar fields are dynamically generated too. They are ghosts.
