On the masses of light pseudoscalar mesons

Abstract:We investigate the masses of light pseudoscalar mesons by the method based on a new anomaly free condition for axial vector current. By this viewpoint, the field theories discussed here do not have the $U(1)$ problem. We calculate the masses of nine light pseudoscalar mesons, with theoretical result agrees reasonably good with experiment.

Abstract:We describe a symmetry-preserving calculation of the light-quark meson spectrum, which combines a description of pion properties with reasonable estimates of the masses of heavier mesons, including axial-vector states. The kernels used in formulating the problem are essentially nonperturbative, incorporating effects of dynamical chiral symmetry breaking (DCSB) that were not previously possible to express. Our analysis clarifies a causal connection between DCSB and the splitting between vector and axial-vector mesons and exposes a key role played by the anomalous chromomagnetic moment of dressed quarks in forming the spectrum.

Abstract:The light scalar meson nonet above 1 GeV ({\it i.e.\}the $a_{0}$, $K^{\ast}_{0}$ and $f_{0}$) are studied within the framework of QCD sum rules. In conventional QCD sum rules, the calculated masses of this nonet are degenerate, and the mass of $K^{\ast}_{0}$ is always larger than the $a_{0}$ in contradiction with the observed spectrum. After improving the correlation function by including instanton effects, the masses are well separated from each other. In particular, our results shows glueball content plays an important role in the underlying structure of $f_{0}(1500)$. The decay constants are also discussed.

Abstract:We study the low-lying scalar mesons of light u, d, s flavors in the QCD sum rule. Having all possible combinations of tetraquark currents in the local form, QCD sum rule analysis has been carefully performed. We found that using the appropriate tetraquark currents, the masses of σ, κ, f0 and a0 mesons appear in the region of 0.6–1 GeV with the expected ordering. The results are compared with that of the conventional q¯q currents, where the masses are considerably larger.

Abstract:A current algebra based effective chiral theory of pseudoscalar, vector, axial-vector mesons is reviewed. A new mechanism generating the masses and guage fixing terms of gauge boson is revealed from this effective theory. A EW theory without Higgs is proposed. The masses and gauge fixing terms of W and Z are dynamically generated. Three heavy scalar fields are dynamically generated too. They are ghosts.

Abstract:Using a confining, symmetry-preserving regularization of a vector x vector contact interaction, we compute the spectra of ground-state pseudoscalar and vector of (f (g) over bar) mesons, scalar and axial-vector (fg) diquarks, and J(P) = 1/2(+), 3/2(+) (fgh) baryons, where f, g, h is an element of {u, d, s, c, b}. The diquark correlations are essentially dynamical and play a key role in formulating and solving the three-valence-quark baryon problems. The baryon spectrum obtained from this largely algebraic approach reproduces the 22 known experimental masses with an accuracy of 2.9(2.4)%. It also possesses the richness of states typical of constituent-quark models, predicting many heavy-quark baryons not yet observed. This study indicates that diquark correlations are an important component of all baryons; and owing to the dynamical character of the diquarks, it is typically the lightest allowed diquark correlation that defines the most important component of a baryon's Faddeev amplitude.

Abstract:Using the relativistic BS equation with the kernel containing a confinement term and a gluon exchange term in a covariant generalization of the Coulomb gauge the formula for masses of heavy mesons with arbitrary spin and parity are obtained to the order 1/M. The retardation effect is taken into account. Numerical values for low-lying states of D and B systems are obtained.

Abstract:We study the exotic $J^{PC}=0^{--}$ four-quark states in Laplace sum rules (LSR) and finite energy sum rules (FESR). We use the vector tetraquark-like currents as interpolating currents in the correlator, from which the $1^{+-}$ states are also studied. In the mass extraction, we use the standard stability criterion with respect to the Borel parameters and the QCD continuum thresholds and consider the effect of the violation of factorization in estimating the high dimensional condensates as a source of uncertainties. The obtained mass prediction $1.66\pm0.14$ GeV is much lower than the previous sum rule predictions obtained using the scalar currents. Our result favours the four-quark interpretation of the possible $\rho\pi$ dominance in the $D^0$ decay. We also discuss the possible decay patterns of these exotic four-quark states.
Constraint on the Light Quark Mass M(Q) from Qcd Sum Rules in the I=0 Scalar Channel

Abstract:In this paper, we reanalyze the I = 0 scalar channel with the improved Monte-Carlo-based QCD sum rules, which combines the rigorous Holder-inequality-determined sum rule window and a parametrization with two-Breit-Wigner-type resonances for the phenomenological spectral density that satisfies the low-energy theorem for the scalar form factor. Considering the uncertainties of the QCD parameters and the experimental masses and widths of the scalar resonances sigma and f(0)(980), we obtain a prediction for light quark mass m(q) (2 GeV) = 1/2 (m(u)(2 GeV) + m(d)(2 GeV)) = 4.7(-0.7)(+0.8) MeV, which is consistent with the Particle Data Group value and QCD sum rule determinations in the pseudoscalar channel. This agreement provides a consistent framework connecting QCD sum rules and low-energy hadronic physics. We also obtain the decay constants of sigma and f(0)(980) at 2 GeV, which are approximately 0.64-0.83 and 0.40-0.48 GeV, respectively.

Abstract:We calculate the masses of J(PC) = 1(-+) light exotic mesons by QCD sum rules; the masses are extracted from four-quark-hybrid mixing correlation functions. We construct several 1(-+) four-quark currents and hybrid currents, and get two masses around 1.2-1.4 GeV and 1.45-1.67 GeV; they can be identified as pi(1 )(1400) and pi(1 )(1600).

Abstract:We predict the masses of the low-lying B-c mesons with J(P) = 0(-), 1(-), 0(+), 1(+), 2(+), using a flavor-dependent interaction pattern which gives an unified successful description of the light, heavy-light, and heavy mesons and is also applicable to the radial excited heavy mesons. The errors are controlled carefully. With the errors from the rainbow ladder (RL) approximation subdued, our predictions are consistent with the lattice QCD (lQCD) and quark model results, which support strongly that the flavor-dependent interaction pattern is reasonable. Our predictions provide significant guides to the experiment search of the B-c mesons.
The electromagnetic form factors of heavy-light pseudo-scalar and vector mesons

Abstract:We systematically investigate the electromagnetic form factors of heavy-light pseudo-scalar and vector mesons within the Dyson-Schwinger/Bethe-Salpeter equations framework for the first time. It is found that the charge radius of vector meson is larger than that of its pseudo-scalar counterpart. In heavy-light systems, the flavor symmetry breaking will lead to a splitting of the form factor of different quark, and the distribution range of lighter and heavier quark gradually expands and contracts, respectively. The competition between them together generates the electromagnetic form factors of meson. Our results can be compared with other theoretical calculations and future experimental data.

Abstract:Preliminary results for light hadron masses are presented from lattice QCD calculations on asymmetric lattices with improved actions. The used lattices have a fixed spatial lattice spacing as at 0.4fm, and a temporal lattice spacing at from 0.14 to 0.08fm. The discretization errors of a,, is reduced through improving actions at certain level. We find that masses of mesons have a weak at dependence, while the at dependence for baryons is more significant. Extrapolating to at = 0 limit, we obtain the mass of the nucleon, which has a 9% difference compared with the experimental value.

Abstract:New hidden particles could potentially be emitted and discovered in rare nuclear transitions. In this work we investigate the production of hidden vector bosons with primarily axial couplings to light quarks in nuclear transitions, and we apply our results to the recent anomaly seen in $^8$Be decays. The relevant matrix elements for $^8{\rm Be}^*(1^+) \rightarrow ^8{\rm Be} (0^+)$ transitions are calculated using ${\it ab \, initio}$ methods with inter-nucleon forces derived from chiral effective field theory and the in-medium similarity renormalization group. We find that the emission of a light axial vector with mass $m_X \simeq 17\, {\rm MeV}$ can account for the anomaly seen in the $1^+\to 0^+$ isoscalar transition together with the absence of a significant anomaly in the corresponding isovector transition. We also show that such an axial vector can be derived from an anomaly-free ultraviolet-complete theory that is consistent with current experimental data.

Abstract:The heavy-light mesons are studied within the framework of Dyson-Schwinger equations of QCD. Inspired by the axial-vector Ward-Takahashi identity resulting from the chiral symmetry, we propose a truncation scheme beyond the ladder approximation without introducing any additional parameters. For the pseudoscalar and vector heavy-light mesons, the obtained mass spectrum has the level of relative errors at 5% compared with experimental data and lattice-QCD results. For the leptonic decay constants, our results are comparable with those from experiments and/or lattice QCD. For some channels, the discrepancies are sizable but significantly smaller than those using the equal spacing rule. The truncation scheme proposed in this work is simple and could be improved and applied to study other open flavor hadrons including both mesons and baryons.

Abstract:AbstractA symmetry-preserving treatment of a vector $$\times $$ × vector contact interaction is used to compute spectra of ground-state $$J^P = 0^\pm , 1^\pm $$ J P = 0 ± , 1 ± $$(f{\bar{g}})$$ ( f g ¯ ) mesons, their partner diquark correlations, and $$J^P=1/2^\pm , 3/2^\pm $$ J P = 1 / 2 ± , 3 / 2 ± (fgh) baryons, where $$f,g,h \in \{u,d,s,c,b\}$$ f , g , h ∈ { u , d , s , c , b } . Results for the leptonic decay constants of all mesons are also obtained, including scalar and pseudovector states involving heavy quarks. The spectrum of baryons produced by this chiefly algebraic approach reproduces the 64 masses known empirically or computed using lattice-regularised quantum chromodynamics with an accuracy of 1.4(1.2)%. It also has the richness of states typical of constituent-quark models and predicts many baryon states that have not yet been observed. The study indicates that dynamical, nonpointlike diquark correlations play an important role in all baryons; and, typically, the lightest allowed diquark is the most important component of a baryon’s Faddeev amplitude.

Abstract:We present 5 GHz high resolution VLA observations of 2,127 radio- and X-ray-emitting sources found in both the Green Bank (GB) 5 GHz radio catalog and the ROSAT All-Sky Survey (RASS). We report core flux densities and positions accurate to +/-0.5". Combined with the GB measuremens of the total radio emission, we derive the core-to-lobe ratio of objects in our sample and discuss their core-dominance relative to samples of radio galaxies and BL Lacertae objects. Our results show the ROSAT/GreenBank (RGB) sample is approximately an order of magnitude more core-dominated than the radio galaxy sample, but is more than an order of magnitude less core-dominated than highly beamed BL Lacertae object samples. Using simple beaming models, this indicates the typical object in the RGB catalog exhibits beamed radio emission and is oriented at a modest angle to the line-of-sight (theta ~ 25-30 degrees). The case of the origin of the X-ray emission is not as clear; the data are consistent with either an anisotropic unbeamed or moderately beamed X-ray component.
