The necessary ingredients to establish this variant are due to Waldspurger.

Abstract:We show that inside the real quaternionic symplectic group ${\mathrm {Sp}}(p,q)$, every element is conjugate to its inverse. Similar result is proved for the real quaternionic orthogonal group $\mathrm{O }^{*}(2n)$. We also show that no similar result is possible in the p-adic case.

Abstract:In this paper we briefly discuss some of our recent results in the study of moduli space of Riemann surfaces. It is naturally divided into two parts, one about the differential geometric aspect, another on the topological aspect of the moduli spaces. To understand the geometry of the moduli spaces we introduced new metrics, studied in detail all of the known classical complete metrics, especially the Kähler-Einstein metric. As a corollary we proved that the logarithmic cotangent bundle of the moduli space is strictly stable in the sense of Mumford. The topological results we obtained were motivated by conjectures from string theory. We will describe in this part our proofs by localization method of the Mariño-Vafa formula, its two partition analogue as well as the theory of topological vertex and the simple localization proofs of the ELSV formula and the Witten conjecture. The applications of these formulas in Gromov-Witten theory and string duality will also be mentioned.

Abstract:We generalize a theorem of Bismut–Zhang, which extends the Cheeger–Müller theorem on Ray–Singer torsion and Reidemeister torsion, to the case of infinite Galois covering spaces. Our result is stated in the framework of extended cohomology, and generalizes in this case a recent result of Braverman–Carey–Farber–Mathai. It does not use the determinant class condition and thus also (potentially) generalizes several results on L2-torsions due to Burghelea, Friedlander, Kappeler and McDonald. We combine the framework developed by Braverman–Carey–Farber–Mathai on the determinant of extended cohomology with the heat kernel method developed in the original paper of Bismut–Zhang to prove our result.

Abstract:An MV-module is an MV-algebra endowed with a scalar multiplication with scalars in a PMV-algebra (i.e. an MV-algebra endowed with a binary "ring-like" product). We investigate the class of semisimple MV-modules over a semisimple and totally ordered integral domain, and we prove an adjunction with a special class of linear spaces.

Extensions of finitely generated Veech groups

Abstract:Given a closed surface $S$ with finitely generated Veech group $G$ and its $\pi_1(S)$-extension $\Gamma$, there exists a hyperbolic space $\hat{E}$ on which $\Gamma$ acts isometrically and cocompactly. The space $\hat{E}$ is obtained by collapsing some regions of the surface bundle over the convex hull of the limit set of $G$. Using the nice action of $\Gamma$ on the hyperbolic space $\hat{E}$, it is shown that $\Gamma$ is hierarchically hyperbolic. These are generalizations of results from Dowdall-Durham-Leininger-Sisto, which assume in addition that $G$ is a lattice. Because finitely generated Veech groups are among the most basic examples of subgroups of mapping class groups which are expected to qualify as geometrically finite, this result is evidence for the development of a broader theory of geometric finiteness.

Abstract:We study the extensions of two left modules $W_1, W_2$ for a meromorphic open-string vertex algebra $V$. We show that the extensions satisfying some technical but natural convergence conditions are in bijective correspondence to the first cohomology classes associated to the $V$-bimodule $\mathcal{H}_N(W_1, W_2)$ constructed in \cite{HQ-Red}. When $V$ is grading-restricted and contains a nice vertex subalgebra $V_0$, those convergence conditions hold automatically. In addition, we show that the dimension of $\text{Ext}^1(W_1, W_2)$ is bounded above by the fusion rule $N\binom{W_2}{VW_1}$ in the category of $V_0$-modules. In particular, if the fusion rule is finite, then $\text{Ext}^1(W_1, W_2)$ is finite-dimensional. We also give an example of an abelian category consisting of certain modules of the Virasoro VOA that does not contain any nice subalgebras, while the convergence conditions hold for every object.

Abstract:Let R be a commutative ring and let M be a GV-torsionfree R-module. Then M is said to be a w-module if Ext(R)(1)(R/J, M) = 0 for any J is an element of GV(R), and the w-envelope of M is defined by M(w) = {x is an element of E(M)vertical bar Jx subset of M for some J is an element of GV(R)}. In this paper, w-modules over commutative rings are considered, and the theory of w-operations is developed for arbitrary commutative rings. As applications, we give some characterizations of w-Noetherian rings and Krull rings.

Abstract:Complete MV-algebras are naturally equipped with frame structures. We call them MV-frames and investigate some of their main the properties as frames. We completely characterized algebraic MV-frames as well as regular MV-frames. In addition, we consider nuclei on MV-frames in general and on MV-frames of ideals of Lukasiewicz rings. Finally, we used the Chang-Mundici functor to explore the frame structures of complete unital lattice-ordered groups.

Abstract:We study extension properties for morphisms of stacks of bundles for group algebraic spaces. Applications are a short proof of the classification of bundles on the projective line for smooth geometrically reductive groups and the existence of splittings of filtered fiber functors for gerbes bound by affine pro-smooth group schemes defined over rings.

Abstract:This article presents two key computations in MW-motivic cohomology. Firstly, we compute the MW-motivic cohomology of the symplectic groups $Sp_{2n}$ for any $n\in\mathbb{N}$ using the $Sp$-orientation and the associated Borel classes. Secondly, following the classical computations and using the analogue in $\mathbb{A}^1$-homotopy of the Leray spectral sequence, we compute the $\eta$-inverted MW-motivic cohomology of general Stiefel varieties, obtaining in particular the computation of the $\eta$-inverted MW-motivic cohomology of the general linear groups $GL_n$ and the special linear groups $SL_n$ for any $n\in\mathbb{N}$. Finally, we determine the multiplicative structures of these total cohomology groups.

Abstract:In this note we discuss the construction of equivariant primitive harmonic maps into $k-$symmetric spaces and give many applications to the construction of Willmore surfaces. In particular, examples of $S^1-$equivariant Willmore Moebius strips in $S^3$ are obtained as generalizations of the Lawson minimal Klein Bottles in $S^3$.

Abstract:Explicit formulas to calculate MV functions in a basis-free representation are presented for an arbitrary Clifford geometric algebra Cl(p,q). The formulas are based on analysis of the roots of minimal MV polynomial and covers defective MVs, i.e. the MVs that have non-diagonalizable matrix representations. The method may be generalized straightforwardly to matrix functions and to finite dimensional linear operators. The results can find wide application in Clifford algebra analysis.

Abstract:In enumerative geometry, Virasoro constraints were first conjectured in Gromov-Witten theory with many new recent developments in the sheaf theoretic context. In this paper, we rephrase the sheaf-theoretic Virasoro constraints in terms of primary states coming from a natural conformal vector in Joyce's vertex algebra. This shows that Virasoro constraints are preserved under wall-crossing. As an application, we prove the conjectural Virasoro constraints for moduli spaces of torsion-free sheaves on any curve and on surfaces with only $(p,p)$ cohomology classes by reducing the statements to the rank 1 case.

Abstract:This paper is the second in a series of works dedicated to studying non-linear partial differential equations via derived geometric methods. We study a natural derived enhancement of the de Rham complex of a non-linear PDE via algebro-geometric techniques and examine its consequences for the functional differential calculus on the space of solutions. Applications to the BV-formalism with and without boundary conditions are discussed.

Abstract:We study the structure of the Mordell--Weil groups of semiabelian varieties over large algebraic extensions of a finitely generated field of characteristic zero. We consider two types of algebraic extensions in this paper; one is of extensions obtained by adjoining the coordinates of certain points of various semiabelian varieties; the other is of extensions obtained as the fixed subfield in an algebraically closed field by a finite number of automorphisms. Some of such fields turn out to be new examples of Kummer-faithful fields which are not sub-$p$-adic. Among them, we find both examples of Kummer-faithful fields over which the Mordell--Weil group modulo torsion can be free of infinite rank and not free.

Abstract:These are expanded and revised notes for a minicourse entitled "Affine W-algebras", which took place as part of the thematic month "Quantum Symmetries" at the Centre de Recherches Mathematiques in Montreal, Canada in October 2022. The first few sections consist of rapid introductions to vertex algebras, affine Kac-Moody algebras and their integrable and admissible modules, and the homological BRST procedure for quantum Hamiltonian reduction. The affine W-algebras are defined using these ingredients. The remainder of the notes treats the structure and representation theory of the exceptional affine W-algebras, with emphasis on modular tensor categories of representations.
