Abstract:In this paper we report the experimental results of copper vapor laser-induced B-doping in Si-substrate, The laser doped p-n junctions have depths less than 0.2 mu m and surface B concentrations more than 10(21) cm(-3). The highest photoelectric efficiency of solar cell reaches 9.2%. It shows that copper vapor laser has the distinguished advantage in laser-induced doping.

Abstract:Objective To determine the bactericidal effects of diode laser on three species bacterial strains in vitro.Methods Cell suspensions of each strain were exposed to laser about 1,3 and 5 minutes respectively, then the colonies were counted and the bactericidal rates were measured.Results From 1 to 5 minutes, the bactericidal rates of Bacteroides melanogenicus were respectively 48.26%, 70.37% and 90.65%, Peptostreptococcus were 57.04%, 74.50% and 90.69%, Fusobacterium nucleatum were 52.43%, 78.14% and 90.23%. We discussed the possibility of the laser in improving the clinical treatment of root canal.Conclusion Diode laser has good bactericidal effects on three species bacterial strains. The more time each strain was exposed to laser, the higher bactericidal rates were.

Abstract:Eight beams of 0.35 μm laser with pulse duration of 1 ns and total energy of 2 kJ enter into a hohlraum to create intense X-ray radiation of 140 eV on the Shenguang II laser facility. Plastic foam (C6H12) and copper-doped foam (C6H12Cu0.394) with a density of 50 mg/cm3 are heated by X-ray radiation emitted from the hohlraum. The breakout time of the radiation wave is measured by a tri-chromatic streaked X-ray spectrometer (TCS) that consists of a set of three imaging pinholes and an array of three transmission gratings coupled with an X-ray streak camera (XSC). At one shot, the simultaneous measurements of the delay of the drive source and the radiation transport at two energies (210 eV, 840 eV) through the foam have been made for the first time. The experimental results indicate that the time delays vary with photon energies. With a transmission grating spectrometer (TGS), the spectra transmitting foams were measured, and the lower limit of the optical depth was measured. The radiation at energy of 210 eV propagates through plastic foam at a faster velocity, compared with the radiation at energy of 840 eV; while the results of copper-doped foam are reverse. The optical depth in the plastic foam is less than 1, and in the doped foam it is more than 1.

Abstract:Laser-induced mutation was used to get a mutant of biodesulfurization strain Gordonia sp. WQ-01,and the various irradiation time and output power was investigated. Based on the DszC enzyme activity,nucleotide sequence alignment,structure analysis and heterologous expression in Escherichia coli,the relevant desulfurization characteristic was revealed. The results showed that a high-efficient desulfurization strain with the efficiency of 0. 15 mmol·L- 1·h- 1and a reduced desulfurization time( 36 h) was achieved under the optimal irradiation condition,which was 15 min and 20. 0 mW. Compared with the parent strain,the key enzyme DszC was improved by 33. 3%. The nucleotide and amino acid sequence,second and third structure were changed for dszC in the mutant strain,thus resulted in an increase of enzyme activity. The E. coli BL21( DE3) expressing the dszC produced a protein with 45 kDa with IPTG induction.

Abstract:The experiment of laser thermal enhanced electrochemical deposition was investigated in this paper and the deposition layer of copper was obtained when laser irradiated the stainless steel substrate through the electrolyte. Then the scanning electron microscope was utilized to observe the surface morphology and cross-sectional morphology of the deposition layer. According to morphology observed, the laser thermal effect was discussed and the mechanical of laser enhanced electrochemical deposition was analyzed. The results show that the thermal effect of laser could increase the electrode potential and speed up the reduction reaction rate of electrochemical deposition. Compared with the ordinary electrodeposition, the grain size of electrodeposition has also been greatly reduced. When the laser energy was 0.2 mJ (20 kHz), the deposition rate was better and when the laser energy was between 0.2 mJ (20 kHz) and 0.4 mJ (20 kHz), the deposition layer with high tensile strength was gained. The results are useful to the development of the later electrochemical machining technology.

Abstract:The paper reports that penicillin-producing strains and lovastatin-producing strains were irradiated by UV and subsequently by laser(632.8nm),and the reparation rate reached 297% and 264%. High-yield mutant was selected with improved potency of 24.5% and 30%, respectively; Gibberellin producing strains were treated with chemical agent LiCl, and then irradiated with 632.8nm laser. One mutant with 189.6% increased potency was obtained. The experimental results indicated that using laser irradiation after UV or chemical agent mutation was a new useful method in breeding high-yield strains.

Abstract:Aiming at the problems of high energy consumption, complex wiring, high layout cost, limited use environment, and limited function of conventional plant lighting equipment such as fluorescent lamps, sodium lamps, etc., this paper develops a type of laser device for plant growth with nanometer lasers based on the design of an intelligent control system of an immune algorithm, constant current driving circuit of the laser, pulse power supply, and rotatable intelligent platform to make the device more stable, reliable, practical, and energy efficient, and provides a useful reference for the innovation and application of materials, processes, and methods of plant lighting. The effects of nanometer laser light supplementation on the growth of purple lettuce, romaine lettuce, Chinese cabbage, and you-mai vegetable have been studied with the vegetables mentioned above as experimental materials and with natural light as the control sample. The results show that the nanometer laser device significantly increases stem height, stem thickness, leaf area, leaf number, and chlorophyll content, effectively promotes plant growth, and achieves efficient cultivation. In the future, studies of the effects of laser treatment on plant physiology and biochemistry will be sped up to explore the molecular biological mechanism of lasers to promote application and technological innovation of lasers in lighting for plant growth and the laser device in productivity.

Abstract:A systematic investigation was made for the R-M transition and recombination lasers in strontium ions by the longitudinal pulse discharge-excited with the helium buffer gas in a quartz discharge tube of 9 mm inner diameter and 42cm electrode's separation. The laser power of each-line as a function of different working parameters, as well as the corresponding photo-electrical pulse waveforms were analyzed and observed for two kinds of optical cavity. A set of better operating parameters was also obtained for the multi-line strontium ion laser.

Abstract:In this study, the impacts of laser irradiation on the surface morphology and hardness of copper (Cu) are investigated under various environments, including air, vacuum, and high-pressure gas flow through a supersonic nozzle. After irradiating Cu targets with laser pulses with energy of 30, 60, and 90 mJ/pulse, the surface structures of the targets are analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The SEM analysis reveals diverse surface morphologies, including micro-cones, cavities, droplets, ripples, and island-like structures, depending on laser energy and environments. The XRD analysis provides insights into the structural changes induced by laser irradiation. The results indicate a significant enhancement in microhardness by a factor of 2.77, which is attributed to the surface and structural modifications incurred under various environments. In addition, the XRD analysis reveals a shift in the residual stress in the surface layers of copper from tensile before laser irradiation to compressive afterwards, highlighting the effectiveness of laser surface treatment in inducing favorable mechanical properties.

Abstract:Simultaneous oscillation of resonance-metastable transition laser in calcium atoms and ions was obtained in a discharge tube with 1.3cm inner diameter and 46cm electrode separation through longitudinal high frequency pulse discharge.The maximum laser output power and laser efficiency reach 1.1W and 0.1 percent respectively.Laser output characteristics depend on various working parameters and the ratio of Pi/Pa were measured and analyzed.

Abstract:Electrodeposition process of copper under a laser beam has been studied by rotating disk electrode. A laser beam results local temperature rise at electrode-solution interface, thi leads to: local positive shift of rest potential, increase in exchange current i0 and charge transfer coefficient alpha, strong microstirring which raises limiting current density. All these changes enhance electrodeposition rates, thus high-speed selective electroplating can be reached.

Abstract:The micro-nano structure surface has significant influence on the condensation heat transfer. Studying and designing micro-nano structure parameters help to better explore methods for improving surface condensation heat transfer performance. In this paper, we firstly processed hill shaped microstructure with customizable structural parameters on the copper surface using femtosecond laser technology. Subsequently, copper oxide nanowire structures were prepared on copper surfaces with hill shaped microstructures utilizing thermal oxidation method by tube furnace. We have been conducted a series of condensation heat transfer experiments on the copper-based micro-nano structure surface. Further the condensation heat transfer coefficient on the surface of micro-nano structures were analyzed. Additionally, the dynamic behavior of condensation droplets was also investigated. The surface processing results show that the surface structure parameters can be well customized using femtosecond laser technology by adjusting the laser processing parameters and designing patterns. The experimental results of condensation heat transfer indicate that the surface heat transfer coefficient of the copper-based micro-nano structure has been significantly improved compared with smooth copper surface. It has been found that there is droplet jumping phenomenon at low subcooling, while flooding phenomenon occurs at high subcooling.

Selection and cultivation of itaconic acid producing strain treated with pure copper vapor laser

Abstract:A mutant strain AT89-4 producing itaconic acid was obtained from the start strain aspergillus terrus AT1, treated with pure copper vapor laser. This mutant strain shows good genetic stability in the procedure of continual inoculation preservation. Preliminary shaking flask tests shows that the yield of acid was more than 5.0g/100ml and the conversion rate of sugar was up to 60% when 10% glucose concentration was used.

Abstract:Transmission light intensity distribution in the skin-tissue model were measured under irradiation of continuous-wave He-Ne laser at the wavelength of 632.8nm.The dependence of the light intensity distribution on the concentration of the Intralipid solution and the thickness of the vessels was studied in detail.The results show that the light intensity distribution in the Intralipid solution were significantly affected by the concentration of the solution and the thickness of the vessels.As a result of absorption and scattering effect,the light intensity was decreased.The highest point of the light intensity was the center of the light,and the intensity decrease in the radial direction.

Abstract:Pure copper is widely used in motor windings, heat exchangers and aerospace engines because of its high electrical and thermal conductivity. High-strength laser powder bed fusion (HS-LPBF) not only allows rapid production of components with complex geometry and high spatial resolution, but also offers various advantages such as small focal spot diameter, fine powder, and small layer thickness, providing advantages for forming complex structural parts in fields such as engines and heat exchangers. A single factor single layer experiment was performed by varying the hatch spacing (H), and the range of hatch spacing was determined according to the overlap rate. The degree of influence of process parameters on the relative density of pure copper specimens was analyzed using an orthogonal experiment, and a comparative study of the phase composition, microstructure and mechanical properties of pure copper specimens was carried out by varying the laser power. The characteristics of pure copper formed by HS-LPBF were analyzed. In addition, the effect of heat treatment on the microstructure and mechanical properties of pure copper specimens was investigated, and the fracture morphology of the specimens was observed comparatively. The results show that the HS-LPBF technique can effectively increase the energy density and improve the specific surface area of the powder and the laser absorptivity due to its small focal spot diameter, fine powder and layer thickness, thus reducing the minimum energy required to melt pure copper powder. The optimum process parameters were obtained by orthogonal experiment with a relative density of 98.1 % of the specimen. The highest hardness, ultimate tensile strength and elongation were obtained at a laser power of 260 W with 84 HV, 320 MPa and 17.8 %, respectively. This ultimate tensile strength is 18 % higher than the highest ultimate tensile strength that has been reported so far. In addition, the average grain size of the optimal specimens was 3.6 μm. Mechanical properties such as hardness, tensile strength and elongation of pure copper parts can be significantly improved by precisely controlling the process parameters, in particular laser power and hatch spacing.

Abstract:A focused argon laser beam (488 nm) was applied to an acid copper plating system to investigate the feasibility of laser-enhanced plating on a good heat conducting material. A thermal model which was developed to determine the contribution of factors influencing the heat transfer mechanism and to predict the surface temperature distribution is presented. It was found that the plating rate can reach as high as 25-mu-m/s. The effect of the laser irradiation on the copper deposition rates is photothermal rather than photolytic in nature. The charge-transfer mechanism of the copper deposition under laser irradiation is the same as that without laser irradiation.

Abstract:Temperature distributions of the porcine skin in the radial direction and axial direction were measured by using multi-pulse Nd:YAG laser irradiation under different wavelengths.The results show that the temperature distribution in the skin tissue is significantly affeceted by the measuring position,pulse repetitive freuqency and wavelength,and irradiation energy density.When th wavelength and repectitive frequency are definite,the temperature of the tissue inceases with the energy density,and the photo disruption threshold is 1 118.19 mJ/cm2 at the wavelength of 1 064 nm and the repetitive frequency of 10 Hz;when the wavelength and the energy density are definite,the temperature of the tissue increases with the repetitive frequency;and when the energy density and repetitive frequency are definie,the optical-thermal effect at the wavelength of 1 064 nm is more remarkable than that of 532 nm.

Abstract:Laser treatment has a significant influence on suppressing the secondary electron emission (SEE) in electron storage rings. A new synchrotron radiation light source, the Hefei Advanced Light Source(HALS), is under consideration and it has a strict requirement to suppress the SEE. In this paper, we used a laser with the wavelength of 355nm to process with copper sample. After the laser treatment, the secondary electron yield (SEY) reduces from 2.05 to 0.86. We also used the scanning electron microscope (SEM) to analysis the surface of the sample after the laser treatment. This paper reports the experiment set up and preliminary results.
