Abstract:The direct oxidative N-acylation reaction of primary amides with aryl/alpha,beta-unsaturated aldehydes was achieved in the presence of azolium salt C3 and an inorganic base using 3,3',5,5'-tetra-tert-butyldipherioquinone as the oxidant, thus providing an efficient approach for the synthesis of three types of imide compounds including N-sulfonylcarboxamides, N-sulfinylcarboxamides, and dicarboxyimides in good yield.

Abstract:A metal-, base-, and additive-free N-acylation of sulfoximines was developed under mild conditions using organic photoredox catalyst. This green strategy featured broad substrate scope, good compatibility with air, and high yields (up to 96%). It could be further applied to amino acid modifications and α-keto N-acyl sulfoximine synthesis without any complicated transformations or operations.

Abstract:Sulfoximines, the isoelectronic with sulfones, represent a class of alternative and intriguing motifs in both discovery program and agrochemistry. N‐Alkylation on imines could significantly improve their bioactivities, but the lack of general method has hindered their further uptake by medicinal chemistry and drug development. Herein, we present a mild photocatalytic anti‐Markovnikov hydroamination of alkenes to construct N‐alkylated sulfoximines with broad substrate tolerance on primary, secondary and tertiary alkyl substituents as well as a diverse range of sulfoximines. The mechanistic studies support the photocatalytic pathway, and demonstrate that the alkene radical cation rather than the iminium radical serves as the key intermediate in the transformation.

Abstract:A highly efficient sulfonylation of thiols has been achieved through the metal-free NaI/TBHP-mediated cross-coupling of sulfonyl hydrazides and thiols at room temperature. Abstract:A mild and highly efficient access to N-sulfonyl imines through the oxidation of corresponding N-tert-butylsulfinyl imines and N-p-tosyl-sulfinyl imines with UHP in the presence of catalytic amount MTO was developed. Under mild reaction conditions, this highly selective reaction, provides a general and efficient access to N-sulfonyl aldimines, ketimines and alpha-ketiminoesters in excellent yield. The unstable sulfonylimine intermediates can be afforded with high purity and ready for subsequent reaction without further purification. The application of this method was demonstrated by facile synthesis of quaternary alpha-amino acids derivatives via allylation of obtained alpha-ketiminoesters. (C) 2020 Elsevier Ltd. Abstract:An electrochemical N‐acylation of sulfoximine has been achieved via the coupling of α‐keto acids and NH‐sulfoximines. This process involves the sequential cleavage of C−C bond followed by C(sp2)−N bond formation, with the liberation of H2 and CO2 as the by‐products. A library of N‐aroylated sulfoximines is produced via the coupling of aroyl and sulfoximidoyl radicals by anodic oxidation under constant current electrolysis (CCE). The compatibility of the present protocol has been demonstrated by coupling of various bio‐active compounds, such as NH‐sulfoximine derived from (‐)‐borneol, L‐menthol, D‐glucose derivative, and some commercial drugs such as flurbiprofen, and ibuprofen. This late‐stage functionalization highlights the importance of this sustainable protocol. Besides this, various control experiments and detection of H2 evolution have been performed to support the proposed mechanism.

This protocol provides an efficient and direct oxysulfonylation approach to β-ketosulfones and β-sulfonyl peroxides in moderate to good yields under mild conditions. Abstract:A novel strategy for the N-arylation of NH-sulfoximines has been developed by merging nickel catalysis and electrochemistry (in an undivided cell), thereby providing a practical method for the construction of sulfoximine derivatives. Paired electrolysis is employed in this protocol, so a sacrificial anode is not required. Owing to the mild reaction conditions, excellent functional group tolerance and yield are achieved. A preliminary mechanistic study indicates that the anodic oxidation of a Ni-II species is crucial to promote the reductive elimination of a C-N bond from the resulting Ni-III species at room temperature.

Abstract:A novel photocatalytic acylation strategy was developed harnessing tetrabutylammonium decatungstate (TBADT) as a hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) photocatalyst to facilitate the direct coupling of aldehydes with N-heterocycles at ambient temperature. This approach realizes the direct acylation of N-hetrerocycles without the need for noble metals, acids, or external oxidants, thereby marking a significant advance in green chemistry protocols. Utilizing this photocatalyzed method, we successfully synthesized a diverse array of 3-acylated azauracils and quinoxalin-2(1 H )-ones, adorned with a variety of functional groups, achieving yields ranging from good to excellent. This research opens avenues for the rapid and efficient modification of heterocyclic compounds, which are foundational structures in medicinal chemistry and materials science.
