Abstract:The existence of periodic orbits and saddle-node bifurcations in a Hamiltonian system have been known widely, but the Hopf bifurcations of such system are studied poorly. This paper develops a new method to study the Hopf bifurcations of periodic orbits in three-dimensional, time dependent perturbation of planar Hamiltonian differential equations, and get a series of concise formula to simplify the Hopf bifurcation conditions by some mathematics skill and subharmonic Melnikov method. Then we illustrate our theory with example shown as equation (16) in the paper,and there is no method to study the Hopf bifurcation behaviors of such system before because the exciting terms include an external periodic perturbation. We deduce the Hopf bifurcation existence parameter domains described in equation (19) at first, then use elliptic functions and elliptic integration to calculate these parameter domains with different m's (m is the resonant order of period orbits) shown as Fig.1. In order to verify that our theory is correct, the system is integrated at the bifurcation existence parameter domains with numerical method. The results shown in Fig.2 to Fig.5 indicate that our theory is well coincided with the numerical results.Further numerical integration indicates that more complicated torus bifurcation exist in system (16), and we get results such as quasiperiod motion bifurcated once more, or tuned by period-4and period-5, or period-4 and period-5 and period-6, which are drawn in Fig:6, Fig.7 and Fig.8respectively, and then these motions lead to chaos.
