Abstract:Feng Qi is widely acknowledged in mainland China as one of the few consummate and most original thinkers to have emerged there since 1949. The essence of Feng's thought is to provide a solution to the time-honored problem of the confrontation between fact and value, between a positivistic/ scientific approach and a humanistic/metaphysical approach. Feng tries to solve this conflict by constructing what he calls "epistemology in a broader sense," at the core of which is his theory of the "transformation of knowledge into wisdom."

Abstract:Though means love of in Greek,modern philosophy concerns more about knowledge than wisdom.It almost takes the pursuit of knowledge as its only purpose and neglects wisdom.However,both Chinese philosophy and Western philosophy have a tradition of paying attention to wisdom.For both of them,wisdom is superior to knowledge.Wisdom is speculation about the essence of knowledge and life,and the guide of praxis.Among modern Chinese philosophers,Feng Qi was the only one who reflected on the problem of wisdom.For Feng,wisdom was philosophical wisdom and the theory about xing and Dao.It was capability of virtue.That Feng defined wisdom as knowing made it lose its relevance to praxis.

Abstract:Feng Qi's general epistemology is a product of interaction between modern Chinese philosophy and Western philosophy.It tries to overcome the tensions between scientism and humanism,positivism and irrationalism,traditional Chinese philosophy and Western philosophy,Marxist and non-Marxist philosophy by combining metaphysics with epistemology.Feng's doctrine of wisdom is the joint of this combination.For Feng,wisdom is knowledge and theory instead of praxis,so that his concept of wisdom excludes function of value judgment.Feng insists on the coherence theory of truth,but he verifies what the wisdom gets with the traditional method of zi zheng(intuition),which makes his theory of truth untenable.Moreover,because of the common realist position of ontology Feng fails to overcome the difficulties of his teacher Jin Yue-lin's epistemology,though he makes some modifications to it.

Abstract:Qi,which is regarded as the basic material which constitutes all substances in the space and world,forms basic concepts of ancient Chinese philosophy of nature.The ancient Chinese yin-yang theory and five elements theory are entirely founded on qi monism.Guanzi Inner Work chapter formed in the Warring States period has preliminarily formed a qi monism embryo theory.From Zhang Zai to Luo Tingshun and Wang Tingxiang in the Song and Ming Dynasties and to Wang Fuzhi in the turn from Ming to Qing Dynasties,the qi monist doctrine was developed step by step and the theory was made more mature and perfect.It can be said that the qi monist doctrine always occupied a dominant position in ancient Chinese philosophy.The globality,systematicness togetherness of the thinking reflected by this doctrine still has many contents which may provide enlightenment and reference.

Abstract:The methodology in "Newly Compiled History of Chinese Philosophy" by Feng Youlan is characterized by the integration of the thought of Neo-Confucianism,Marxism and the history of Chinese philosophy.Feng Youlan differentiates materialism from idealism by his unique method of dealing with the relation between subjective and objective,thus he takes the thought that philosophy is the reflection of life into the history of philosophy and establishes the thought as the metatheory in philosophy study.Besides he links the epistemology with the realm of life by adopting the concept of "concrete universals." As a result,the history of Chinese philosophy is no longer evaluated as the problem of materialism or idealism in perspective of epistemology,but as or mainly as the problem of value involving the existence and safety of the people.His study is close to the content of Chinese philosophy,and realizes the return from the transcendence over the neo-rational Confucianism.This return dissolves the problems in the philosophy of mind on the base of the rational Confucianism and he deals with it "in the way he likes without overstepping the rules." By taking the theory of the realm of life as the metatheory,"The Newly Compiled History of Chinese Philosophy" becomes more valuable than "The History of Chinese Philosophy"(two volumes) compiled in the 30s of the 20th century.From this point,it can be said that "The Newly Compiled History of Chinese Philosophy" Has dual significance of dissolving Marxism and summarizing the :"Neo-rational Confucianism" and the research in the history of Chinese philosophy.

Abstract:In this paper the author aims to explore the philosophical essence presented in Qi Wu Lun of ZhuangZi and discusses some approaches to better understanding the subtleness of the theme and different interpretations of some key concepts in Qi Wu Lun.The author goes further by making a comparative study between some seemingly contradictory concepts presented by Qi Wu Lun and Xiao yao you respectively and reveals a fundamental harmony between them.Finally,the author proposes some reading strategies for understanding of philosophical ideas in ZhuangZi: start with the fables first and then study the inertial articles,the most recommendable of which is to read Qi Wu Lu and Xiao yao you comparatively so as to develop one's concrete and abstract logic reasoning competency.

Abstract:Feng Zhi (1905-93) was not only one of the founders of German Studies in China, but he also was an important scholar of the Tang dynasty poet, Du Fu (712-70). The present essay attempts to analyze Feng Zhi's "coming of age" by using Du Fu as a case study for the dialogue between the modern and Western-educated intellectuals on the one hand, and the twentieth-century political and nativist movements of China on the other. Feng's admiration for Du Fu prompted him to write a biography for this precursor poet, this "Sage in Poetry" (shisheng), which was not only a record of his life, but also a mirror that reflects Feng's own spiritual transformation from a student of Western romanticism, individualism, and existentialism, to, in his own words, a "mouthpiece of the people."

Abstract:As a renowned writer of Fu (赋), Yangxiong attached importance to satire, develop-ing new satirical techniques. He mingled light satire with the main body of Dafu (大赋)totouch on the work's themea. He utilized many literary quotations within his Dafu and em-ployed narration interspersed with commentary to give voice to many of his personal medita-tions on history and antiquity. The achievement of his Dafu is that he changed the traditionalstyle in which description and satire come together. He attained a transition from Dafu toYanzhi －Fu (言志赋), which gave expression to his aspirations in his later life. His Dafu alsoinspired the Jixing－fu (纪行赋) writers. Yangxiong'Yanzhi－fu embodies a mixture of Con-fucianism, Daoism, and Sso (aliterary style of the Pre－qin times). His works demonstratea pursuit for individual independence, freedom, and the preservation of moral value. Bridgingthe transition from Dafu to Yanzhi－fu, his works contain great significance to HanFu'history: he isthe linkbetween early and late Han Fu.

Abstract:Wang Fuzhi integrated the initiative,the originality,and the unity of energeticness and gentleness represented by the Qian diagram with natural law,aiming at constituting an energetic and autonomous ontology,in opposition to the void of Buddhism and Taoism.In the elaboration of the four virtues of yuan,heng,li and zhen(creation,prosperity,harmony and uprightness),Wang energetically erected the theory that the four virtues of Ren,Yi,Li and Xin(benevolence,righteousness,propriety and honesty) are virtuous,but Zhi(wisdom) is not a virtue,thus opposing such common practice of society as thinking only oneself wise,being artfully intelligent,and being in favour of wisdom instead of virtues.Wang emphasized Qian's character of being beneficial to everything in the world,and regarded it as a natural coherence of life opportunity inherent in natural law,and applied it in opposition to utilitarianism.The two aspects of Wang's interpretation on the Qian diagram embodied how Wang summed up the historical lessons drawn from the decline of the Ming Dynasty,and how he intended to rebuild an energetic and realistic Chinese culture.
