Abstract:Inspired by the integral representation of two-dimensional reversible projective Finsler metrics due to A.V. Pogorelov, we explicitly construct two new families of dually flat (not necessarily reversible) Finsler metrics with orthogonal invariance of arbitrary dimension.

Abstract:We study Finsler metrics with orthogonal invariance. By determining an expression of these Finsler metrics we find a PDE equivalent to these metrics being locally projectively flat. After investigating this PDE we manufacture projectively flat Finsler metrics with orthogonal invariance in terms of error functions.

Differential Geometry and its Applications

Abstract:In this paper, we study a class of Finsler metrics, called generalized Douglas–Weyl (GDW) metrics, which includes Douglas metrics and Weyl metrics. We find a sufficient and necessary condition for an orthogonally invariant Finsler metric to be a GDW-metric. As its application, we show that a certain class of Finsler metrics with orthogonal invariance are Douglas metrics if they are GDW-metrics, generalized a theorem previously only known in the case of Weyl metrics.

Abstract:Projectively flat Finlser metrics on a convex domain U in ℝ^n are regular solutions to Hilbert’s Fourth Problem. In this paper, we study projectively flat Finlser metrics on U. We find equations that characterize these metrics with weakly orthogonal invariance, refining a theorem due to Sol ó rzano-Le ó n. As its application, we obtain infinitely many new projectively flat Finlser metrics on 𝕊^n+1 and determine their scalar flag curvature. These metrics contain Bryant’s projective spherically symmetric Finsler metric of constant flag curvature 1.

Abstract:A generalized Einstein-Hilbert functional in Finsler geometry is defined and its Euler-Lagrange equation is derived, which depends on not only the Ricci scalar but also the mean Landsberg curvature. Such critical metrics include usual Riemann-Einstein metrics. Some non-Riemannian examples of critical metrics are given. Moreover, some rigidity theorems for a Finsler metric to be Riemannian are obtained.

Abstract:Dually flat Finsler metrics arise from alpha-flat information structures on Riemann-Finsler manifolds. Inspired by the theory of Funk functions and Hamel functions due to Li-Shen, we give a new approach to produce dually flat Finsler metrics in this paper. Moreover, we manufacture new dually flat spherically symmetric Finsler metrics by using the standard Euclidean norm on R-n.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the sharp constants of quantitative Hardy and Rellich inequalities on nonreversible Finsler manifolds equipped with arbitrary measures. In particular, these inequalities can be globally refined by adding remainder terms like the Brezis–Vázquez improvement, if Finsler manifolds are of strictly negative flag curvature, vanishing S-curvature and finite uniformity constant. Furthermore, these results remain valid when Finsler metrics are reversible.

Abstract:We give an explicit construction of an (n+1)-parameter family of pro-jectively Ricci-flat Finsler metrics on an n-dimensional double hemisphere by using the spherical harmonics of degree 1. We also show that all locally projectively flat Ran-ders metrics with isotropic S-curvature on the standard unit sphere are projectively Ricci-flat.

Abstract:The conformai properties of complex Finsler metrics are studied. We first give a characterization of a compact complex Finsler manifold to be globally conformai Kahler. By considering the total holomorphic curvature and total Ricci curvature in the volume preserved conformal classes, we then study the variational properties of Kahler Finsler metrics. By studying the spectral properties of two average metrics, the stabilities of critical Kähler Finsler metrics are verified. Finally, a Yamabe type problem for mean holomorphic Ricci curvature is considered, and a partial existence result is obtained.

Abstract:In this paper, we give a Gauss–Bonnet–Chern formula for real Finsler vector bundles with respect to any metric-compatible connection. The key idea is to modify any given metric-compatible connection to be a new metric-compatible connection with some special properties. As a corollary, a Gauss–Bonnet–Chern formula for Finsler manifolds with respect to any metric-compatible connection is established.

Abstract:Spherically symmetric metrics and Randers metrics form two rich classes of Finsler metrics. In this paper, we find an equation that characterizes pointwise projectively related spherically symmetric metrics. Some applications are given. In particular, by using known spherically symmetric metrics, we produce a lot of Randers metrics of quadratic Weyl curvature which are non-trivial in the sense that they are not of Weyl type.

Abstract:Square metrics arise from several classification problems in Finsler geometry. They are the rare Finsler metrics to be of excellent geometry properties. It is proved that every non-Riemannian dually flat square metric must be Minkowskian if the dimension ≥3. We also obtain a rigidity result in dually flat Matsumoto metrics.

Abstract:In this paper, we study Finsler surfaces of constant (flag) curvature. We show that the space of those, with two-dimensional isometric group depends on two arbitrary constants. We also give a new technique to recover Finsler metrics from the specified two constants. Using this technique we obtain some new Finsler surfaces of constant flag curvature with two-dimensional isometry group.
