Abstract:We prove some regularity criteria for the incompressible magnetohydrodynamic equations with partial viscosity. We study three cases: incompressible magnetohydrodynamic equations with zero viscosity in a bounded domain, incompressible magnetohydrodynamic equations with zero resistivity in a bounded domain, and the density-dependent magnetohydrodynamic equations with zero heat conductivity and zero resistivity in the whole space [Formula: see text]. Our results extend and improve some known results.

Abstract:This paper studies the three-dimensional density-dependent incompressible magnetohydrodynamic equations. First, a regularity criterion is proved which allows the initial density to contain vacuum. Then we establish another blow-up criterion in the Besov space B˙∞,20 when the positive initial density is bounded away from zero. Third, we prove a global nonexistence result for initial density with high decreasing at infinity. Fourth, we obtain a regularity criterion to the density-dependent incompressible magnetohydrodynamic equations in a bounded domain. Finally, we also give some remarks on the regularity criteria for the three-dimensional full compressible magnetohydrodynamic equations in a bounded domain and for the incompressible homogeneous magnetohydrodynamic equation in the whole space R3.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the 3D incompressible magnetohydrodynamic equations and establish several logarithmically improved regularity criteria in the homogeneous Besov space. These criteria are based on certain assumptions made in the velocity field and pressure, respectively. The first result solely based on the velocity field indicates that the velocity field plays a dominant role in determining the regularity of weak solutions, when compared with the magnetic field.

When the horizontal angular component of the velocity belongs to some Lorentz spaces, then strong solutions to this system can be smoothly extended beyond the possible blow-up time T . It should be pointed out that our result does not need any additional assumption on the magnetic field.

Abstract:Whether or not the solution to the $2\frac{1}{2}$-dimensional Hall-magnetohydrodynamics system starting from smooth initial data preserves its regularity for all time remains a challenging open problem. Although the research direction on component reduction of regularity criterion for Navier-Stokes equations and magnetohydrodynamics system have caught much attention recently, the Hall term has presented much difficulty. In this manuscript we discover a certain cancellation within the Hall term and obtain various new regularity criterion: first, in terms of a gradient of only the third component of the magnetic field; second, in terms of only the third component of the current density; third, in terms of only the third component of the velocity field; fourth, in terms of only the first and second components of the velocity field. As another consequence of the cancellation that we discovered, we are able to prove the global well-posedness of the $2\frac{1}{2}$-dimensional Hall-magnetohydrodynamics system with hyper-diffusion only for the magnetic field in the horizontal direction; we also obtained an analogous result in the 3-dimensional case via discovery of additional cancellations. These results extend and improve various previous works.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the incompressible viscous and resistive Hall magnetohydrodynamic equations (Hall MHD in short). We first study the regularity of the magneto-vorticity field $B+\omega$. In three dimensions, we derive some bounds of $B+\omega$ under a condition of the velocity field $u$. Moreover, if we consider the Hall MHD with 2D variables, the uniform-in-time bounds of $B+\omega$ come from the three dimensional case. The regularity of $B+\omega$ gives us a crucial clue of blow-up scenario and provides conditions of the existence of global-in-time solutions. In particular, we prove the global well-posedness of the Hall MHD (also the electron MHD) with 2D variables when the third component of the initial current density $J_0=\nabla\times B_0$ is sufficiently small. We also derive temporal decay rate of $B+\omega$.

Abstract:We are concerned with the uniform regularity estimates of solutions to the two dimensional compressible non-resistive magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) equations with the no-slip boundary condition on velocity in the half plane. Under the assumption that the initial magnetic field is transverse to the boundary, the uniform conormal energy estimates are established for the solutions to compressible MHD equations with respect to the small viscosity coefficient. As a direct consequence, we proved the inviscid limit of solutions from viscous MHD systems to the ideal MHD systems in L ∞ sense by some compact arguments. Our results show that the transverse magnetic field near the boundary can prevent the strong boundary layers from occurring.

Abstract:We discover new cancellations upon -estimate of the Hall term, . Consequently, first, we derive a regularity criterion for the 3-dimensional Hall-magnetohydrodynamics system in terms of horizontal components of velocity and magnetic fields. Second, we are able to prove the global regularity of the -dimensional electron magnetohydrodynamics system with magnetic diffusion for despite the fact that is the critical diffusive strength. Lastly, we extend this result to the -dimensional Hall-magnetohydrodynamics system with replaced by for . The sum of the derivatives in diffusion that our result requires is for any , while the sum for the classical -dimensional Hall-magnetohydrodynamics system is 12 considering and , of which its global regularity issue remains an outstanding open problem.

Abstract:The purpose of the presented article is to develop some new global regularity criteria for a magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) fluid flowing in a saturated porous medium. The effect of the porous medium, over the fluid flow, is characterized by a Darcy–Forchheimer law. The fluid, under study, is considered as one-dimensional and flowing in the x– direction with velocity component u. In addition, such a component is assumed to vary with the y– direction, i.e. u ( y ). Then, given the vorticity function w=-∂u∂y , such that ‖w‖BMO2 is sufficiently small, we develop the regularity criteria under the scope of the L 2 space. We extend our results to the spaces L s , where s > 2. Afterward, we prove the Liouville-type theorem for the MHD Darcy–Forchheimer flow equation. Eventually, we obtain some characterization about the asymptotic behaviour of solutions, particularly, the nonuniform convergence in L 2 for t→∞ .

Global uniform regularity for the 3D incompressible MHD equations with slip boundary condition near an equilibrium

Abstract:This paper solves the global conormal regularity problem for the three-dimensional incompressible MHD equations with slip boundary condition near a background magnetic field. Motivated by applications in geophysics, the MHD system considered here is anisotropic with small vertical dissipation and small horizontal magnetic diffusion. By exploiting the enhanced dissipation due to the background magnetic field and introducing three layers of energy functionals, we are able to establish global-in-time uniform bounds that are independent of vertical viscosity and horizontal resistivity. These global conormal regularity estimates allow us to pass to the limit and obtain the convergence to the MHD system with no vertical dissipation and horizontal magnetic diffusion. In the special case of the 3D incompressible Navier-Stokes, explicit long-time rates are also extracted in the zero vertical viscosity limit. This result complements the important work of Xiao and Xin \cite{Xiao2007,Xiao2013}.
