Abstract:This paper solves the global conormal regularity problem for the three-dimensional incompressible MHD equations with slip boundary condition near a background magnetic field. Motivated by applications in geophysics, the MHD system considered here is anisotropic with small vertical dissipation and small horizontal magnetic diffusion. By exploiting the enhanced dissipation due to the background magnetic field and introducing three layers of energy functionals, we are able to establish global-in-time uniform bounds that are independent of vertical viscosity and horizontal resistivity. These global conormal regularity estimates allow us to pass to the limit and obtain the convergence to the MHD system with no vertical dissipation and horizontal magnetic diffusion. In the special case of the 3D incompressible Navier-Stokes, explicit long-time rates are also extracted in the zero vertical viscosity limit. This result complements the important work of Xiao and Xin \cite{Xiao2007,Xiao2013}.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is the global uniform regularity problem of the three - dimensional incompressible magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) equations under specific boundary conditions. Specifically, the author studied the global uniform regularity of the three - dimensional incompressible MHD equations with slip boundary conditions near the background magnetic field. The MHD system considered in the paper is anisotropic, with small vertical dissipation and horizontal magnetic diffusion. By using the enhanced dissipation effect brought by the background magnetic field and introducing a three - layer energy functional, the author established global uniform bounds independent of vertical viscosity and horizontal resistance. These global uniform regularity estimates enable the author to take the limit and obtain the convergence of solutions of the MHD system without vertical dissipation and horizontal magnetic diffusion. ### Specific problem description 1. **Research objects**: - Three - dimensional incompressible MHD equations with slip boundary conditions. - The form of the equations is as follows: \[ \begin{cases} \partial_t u^\varepsilon + u^\varepsilon \cdot \nabla u^\varepsilon - \Delta_h u^\varepsilon + \nabla p^\varepsilon = \varepsilon \partial_3^2 u^\varepsilon + b^\varepsilon \cdot \nabla b^\varepsilon & \text{in } \mathbb{R}^3_+, \\ \nabla \cdot u^\varepsilon = 0 & \text{in } \mathbb{R}^3_+, \\ \partial_t b^\varepsilon + u^\varepsilon \cdot \nabla b^\varepsilon - \partial_3^2 b^\varepsilon = \varepsilon \Delta_h b^\varepsilon + b^\varepsilon \cdot \nabla u^\varepsilon & \text{in } \mathbb{R}^3_+, \\ \nabla \cdot b^\varepsilon = 0 & \text{in } \mathbb{R}^3_+, \end{cases} \] where \(\mathbb{R}^3_+=\{(x_1, x_2, x_3)\in\mathbb{R}\times\mathbb{R}\times\mathbb{R}_+\}\), and \(u\), \(p\) and \(b\) represent velocity, total pressure and magnetic field respectively. 2. **Boundary conditions**: - Slip boundary conditions: \[ (u^\varepsilon_3, \partial_3 u^\varepsilon_h, b^\varepsilon_3, \partial_3 b^\varepsilon_h)|_{x_3 = 0}=0. \] 3. **Objectives**: - Establish global uniform regularity estimates, that is, prove that when the parameter \(\varepsilon\) approaches zero, the global solutions of equations (1.1) converge to the solutions of the MHD system without vertical dissipation and horizontal magnetic diffusion. - In particular, for the 3D incompressible Navier - Stokes equations, extract the explicit long - time rate in the zero vertical viscosity limit. ### Main methods 1. **Energy estimates**: - Use the enhanced dissipation effect brought by the background magnetic field, introduce a three - layer energy functional, and establish global uniform bounds independent of vertical viscosity and horizontal resistance. - Gradually establish global uniform regularity by analyzing the energy estimates of tangential derivatives and normal derivatives, as well as the energy estimates of horizontal magnetic diffusion.
