Abstract:Chemical investigation of Flickingeria fimbriata (Bl.) Hawkes (Orchidaceae) resulted in the isolation and identification of one new dihydrophenanthrene, 1,2,5,6,7-pentamethoxy-9,10-dihydrophenanthrene (1), together with seven known dihydrophenanthrenes, erianthridin (2), coelonin (3), 4-methoxy-9,10-dihydrophenanthrene-1,2,7-triol (4), lusianthridin (5), ephemeranthol A (6), flavanthridin (7) and hircinol (8), four known phenanthrenes, epheranthol B (9), nudol (10), denthyrsinin (11) and confusarin (12), and one known bibenzyl, batatasin III (13). The structure of the new compound was elucidated by spectroscopic analysis (HRMS, 1D and 2D NMR). All the compounds were isolated from F. fimbriata for the first time except for compounds 5 and 12, and compounds 1, 3, 4, 8, 10, 11 and 13 were obtained from this genus for the first time. Compounds 1-4 showed moderate cytotoxic activity against HepG2 cells.

Abstract:Chemical investigation of the EtOAc extract of an insect-associated fungus Letendraea sp. 5XNZ4-2 cultured in Potato Dextrose Broth (1/2 PDB) medium lead to the isolation of three new polyketides, named letendronol D (1), phomopsiketones H-I (2-3). The structures of new compounds were elucidated by the analysis of HRESIMS and NMR spectroscopic data, and the absolute configurations were determined by modified Mosher’s method, ECD calculation and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Cytotoxicity and antibacterial activities of 1 were assayed and regrettably 1 didn’t display any cytotoxicity and antibacterial activity. 3 was the first phomopsiketone derivative obtaining the lactone.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To isolate and elucidate the constituents of herbs of Polygala hongkongensis.METHOD:The constituents were isolated and purify by chromatographic on silica gel, Sephadax LH-20 and semi-preparative HPLC. The structures were determined by NMR and MS spectral analysis.RESULT:Six compounds were identified as euxanthone (1), 1, 3, 6-trihydroxyxanthone (2), 1, 4, 7-trihydroxy-3-methoxy-xanthone (3), p-hydroxybenzoic acid (4), 3, 4-dihydroxybenzoic acid (5), and methy 1 2, 5-dihydroxybenzoate (6).CONCLUSION:The known compounds 1-6 were isolated from this plant for the first time.

Abstract:Objective: To isolate and identify the structures of triterpenoids from the extract of Acanthopanax sessiliflorus fruits. Methods:The chemical constituents were systematically isolated by column chromatography and liquid chromatography, and their struc-tures were determined by spectral data including 1 H-NMR, 13 C-NMR, HSQC and HMBC combined with ESI-MS. Results:Totally 8 trit-erpenoids compounds were isolated and identified from Acanthopanax sessiliflorus fruits, 22-α-hydroxychiisanogenin (1), chiisanogenin (2), 3-oxo-24-methylenecycloartan (3), mangiferonic acid (4), isomangiferolic acid (5), oleanolic acid (6), betulin (7) and betulin-ic acid (8). Conclusion:Compound 3, 4 and 5 are obtained from Acanthopanax genus for the first time.

Abstract:Two diterpenoids and a few miscellaneous components (one phenethylpropanoid, one flavonoid, and one lignan) were isolated from the MeOH extract of the whole plant of the rare Chloranthaceae plant Chloranthus sessilifolius during a further phytochemical reinvestigation. Based on their spectroscopic data (i.e., IR, UV, 1D/2D NMR, ECD, and HR-ESIMS) and/or comparing with those reported physicochemical data in related literature, the structures were determined to be (3R,5S,6S,95,10S,135)-3,6,13-trihydroxy-ent-abieta-8(14)-en-7-one (1), 3 alpha,15-dihydroxy-13 alpha-methoxy-ent-abieta-8(14)-en-7-one (2), p-coumaroyl-beta-phenethyl amine (3), narigenin trimethyl ether (4), and (3R,4-R,3'R,4'R)-6,6'-dimethoxy-3,4,3',4'-tetrahydro-2H,2H'[3,3]-bichromenyl-4,4'-diol (5). Among them, compound 1 is new, while compounds 3 similar to 5 were isolated from the Chloranthus genus for the first time.

Abstract:Aim To study the chemical constituents of Cypripedium tibeticum. Methods Compounds were isolated by repeated silica gel chromatography and purified on Sephadex LH-20 and structures were determined by spectral analysis. Results Cypritibetquinones A and B were isolated from the ethyl acetate residue and their structures were determined as 7-hydroxy-2-methoxy-1, 4-phenanthraquinone ( 1 ) and 7-hydroxy-2,10-dimethoxy-1,4-phenanthraquinone ( 2 ), respectively, by extensive spectral analyses. Conclusion Cypritibetquinones A and B are two new phenanthraquinones.

Abstract:Three new dihydrophenanthrenes were isolated from the whole plant of Elatostema tenuicaudatum collected in Vietnam. These compounds were identified as 2,3,5-trihydroxy-9,10-dihydrophenanthrene ( 1 ), 2-methoxy-5-hydroxy-9,10-dihydrophenanthrene 3-O- β -D-glucopyranoside ( 2 ), and 2,5-dihydroxy-9,10-dihydrophenanthrene 3-O- β -D-glucopyranoside ( 3 ). Their structures were determined by HR-ESI-MS and 1D, 2D NMR spectroscopy. Furthermore, the inhibitory activities of these compounds against nitric oxide (NO) production in lipopolysaccharide-activated RAW264.7 cells were evaluated. Compound 1 exhibited significant inhibition of NO production, with an IC 50 value of 15.8 ± 1.2 μM. This study represents the first report on the chemical compositions and biological activities of E. tenuicaudatum .

Abstract:Three new dihydrophenanthrenes, retusiusine D (1), retusiusine E (2), retusiusine F (3), and a new phenanthrene retusiusine G (4), together with two known dihydrophenanthrenes 4,7-dihydroxy-2,3-methylenedioxy-9,10-dihydrophenanthrene (5) and epemeranthol-A (6) were isolated from the tubers of Bulbophyllum retusiusculum. Their structures were established on the basis of extensive spectroscopic analyses. Compounds 1 and 2 exhibited potent cytotoxic activities against SMMC-7721 and weak cytotoxic activities against HL-60. Compound 4 showed moderate cytotoxic activity against SMMC-7721 and MCF-7.

Abstract:A new phenylpropanoid ester, anthriscusin I (1), along with six known compounds (2–7) were isolated from the Anthriscus sylvestris (L.) Hoffm roots. The new compound structure was elucidated via spectroscopic analyses, while the known compounds were identified via comparison literature. Abstract:Three new cleistanthane diterpenoids, phyllanglins A-C (1-3), a new natural product, 4-acetyl-bergenin (4), and three known compounds (5-7) were isolated from the roots of Phyllanthus glaucus. Their structures were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic data analyses and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Phyllanglins A-C were unusual cleistanthane diterpenoids with phenylacetylene moieties, and a plausible biogenetic pathway was proposed to discuss the origins of them. All of the isolates were evaluated for their anti-inflammatory activities.

Abstract:A phytochemical investigation on the stems and rhizomes ofSinomenium acutum led to the isolation of 19 compounds,including three phenanthrenes,six anthraquinones,and ten phenolic derivatives.The structures of the isolated compounds were elucidated by analysis of the MS and NMR spectroscopic data and comparison with the literature.Compounds 1 and 2 are two new natural products,and their 1H and 13C NMR spectral data were fully assigned for the first time,with the help of2D NMR.All of the isolates were obtained from genus Sinomenium for the first time and the phenanthrene and anthraquinone are the structure type first reported from this genus plants.

The structures were determined by UV, IR, NMR and MS spectral analysis.RESULT:Five phenanthrene constituents were identified as 7-hydroxy-2, 4-dimethoxy-9, 10-dihydrophenanthrene( I ), 4, 7-dihydroxy-2-methoxy-9, 10-dihydrophenanthrene ( II ), 2, 7-dihydroxy-4-methoxy-9, 10-dihydrophenanthrene ( III ), 7-hydroxy-2-methoxyphenanthrene-1,4-dione ( IV ), 7-hydroxy-2-methoxy-9, 10-dihydrophenanthrene-1,4-dione (V), respectively.CONCLUSION:All compounds were isolated from rhizome of A. graminifolia for the first time.
