Abstract:Underwater acoustic sensing based on the Distributed Networked Underwater Sensors (DNUS) system is envisioned as an effective and energy-efficient approach for oceangraphic monitoring over large area. In this paper, we summarize the main challenges for the distributed underwater sensing based on the DNUS and the impact of the main parameters on the system performance. Based on the requirement of the local measurement exchange in existing distributed tomographic inversion algorithms, we proposed the new direction on integrating communication and signal processing for distributed underwater sensing.

Abstract:Wireless sensor network is data-centric signal processing system. In this paper, the concept of Collaborative Signal and Information Processing (CSIP) is proposed for the requirements of signal processing in target tracking. The experiments for evaluating CSIP based on MICA2 and PDA platform were designed, and (m, k)-firm based scheduling scheme was adopted. Experimental results reveal that the (m, k)-firm based scheme is more effective in decreasing the information loss-rate and reducing the signal distortion than EDF.

Abstract:RF PAs and front-end building blocks are critical for the output power, noise, power-efficiency, out-of-band rejection, and antenna impedance tuning of wireless transceivers. The first three papers in this session cover mm-wave PAs with efficiency enhancement techniques for 5G applications. The next paper presents a 28GHz reflection-coefficient sensor for mm-wave antenna-tuner applications. The session continues with two digital-PA papers in sub-6GHz frequency bands with back-off efficiency enhancement. The session concludes with an N-path filter exhibiting impedance transformation and passive voltage gain.

Abstract:Twin-field quantum key distribution can break through the linear bound, and promises higher key rate over longer distance. But there are two main challenges of signal processing when the twin-field protocol is implemented. One is remote generation of twin fields, the other is perfect compensation of the fast phase drift. Here, we introduce the typical methods and strategies to deal with these challenges by analysis of recent experiments, especially the latest twin-field experiment over 833.8 km fiber.

Abstract:To monitor the health of the fiber network and its ambient environment in densely populated access/metro network areas, in this Letter, an endogenous distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) has been proposed and achieved in a coherent digital subcarrier multiplexing (DSCM) system. Rather than specially allocating a sensing probe in general integrated communication and sensing schemes, the fractional Fourier transformed (FrFT) training sequence (TS) designated for time/frequency synchronization in DSCM coherent communications has been repurposed for sensing. While achieving excellent synchronization performance of communication, the FrFT-based TS can also be concurrently utilized to perform distributed vibration sensing. Experimental results demonstrate that the FrFT-based timing/frequency synchronization sequence is repurposed to achieve a DAS sensitivity of 70 p ε/Hz at a spatial resolution of 5 m, along with 100-Gb/s 16 quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) DSCM transmission, without a loss of spectral efficiency.

Abstract:Distributed speech recognition (DSR) applications have certain QoS (Quality of service) requirements in terms of latency, packet loss rate, etc. To deliver quality guaranteed DSR application over wirelined or wireless links, some QoS mechanisms should be provided. We put forward a RTP/RSVP transmission scheme with DSR-specific payload and QoS parameters by modifying the present WAP protocol stack. The simulation result shows that this scheme will provide adequate network bandwidth to keep the real-time transport of DSR data over either wirelined or wireless channels.

Abstract:A novel tandem-free solution for multiparty VoIP conferences called PASS (peer-aware silence suppression) is presented. Similar to traditional tandem-free solutions, PASS introduces a limit on the number of concurrent speakers in a conference. But in contrast to traditional solutions, PASS silence suppression and speaker selection are completely distributed, running on each client. No speaker selection is performed at the bridge at all. This configuration leads to better scalability, lower bandwidth occupation and jitter buffer delay, and higher compatibility with a wide variety of network topologies. The key component of PASS, distributed silence suppression and speaker selection, is realized through a robust approach proposed in this paper. Based on a voice activity measure derived using machine learning techniques, this approach is able to reliably suppress silence in complex environments, and perform accurate and transparent speaker selection as well

Abstract:Overlapped speech processing has attracted more and more attention in recent years, and it is a key problem when processing multi-talker mixed speech under the cocktail party scenario. It is commonly observed that the performance of overlapped speech processing can be significantly improved if the number of speakers is given in advance. However, such prior knowledge is often unavailable in real-world conditions, so a robust overlapped speech detection and speaker counting system is demanded. Most existing works focus on combining different handcrafted features to tackle this task, which can be sub-optimal since there are no direct connections between the features and the task. In this work, we try to solve these two problems with an end-to-end manner. First, an end-to-end framework for overlapped speech detection and speaker counting is proposed, which extracts features from the raw waveform directly. Then a curriculum learning strategy is applied to make better use of the training data. The proposed methods are evaluated on multi-talker mixed speech generated from the LibriSpeech corpus. Experimental results show that our proposed methods outperform the model with handcrafted features on both tasks, achieving more than 2% and 4% absolute accuracy improvement on overlapped speech detection and speaker counting respectively.

Abstract:Sensor network nodes use OMAP3530 for data acquisition,transmission and processing.Every main node runs blind speech signal separation algorithm individually.In addition to the source separation,proper collaboration and data fusion are introduced,and the system separates the speech signals of present persons in a meeting room.The blind source separation algorithm is real-time and on-line.It exploits the independencies of source signals,and executes the separation of mixed signals in frequency domain.The system makes the best use of the ARM core and DSP core′s processing ability and the advantages of sensor network,thus achieving the multi-speaker speech signal separation efficiently after proper program optimization.
