Abstract:Owing to their high capacity and flexibility, broadband wireless communications have been widely employed in radio and microwave regimes, playing indispensable roles in our daily life. Their optical analogs, however, have not been demonstrated at the nanoscale. In this paper, by exploiting plasmonic nanoantennas, we demonstrate the complete design of broadband wireless links and networks in the realm of nanophotonics. With a 100-fold enhancement in power transfer superior to previous designs as well as an ultrawide bandwidth that covers the entire telecommunication wavelength range, such broadband nanolinks and networks are expected to pave the way for future optical integrated nanocircuits.

Abstract:: The ever-increasing demand for new businesses and the continuous development of the Internet economy have increasingly demanded network communications and service capabilities, and the infrastructure and the deriving technology system of the existing network still face a series of major challenges. New network architectures and key technologies have become the core of a new round of technological revolution and industrial upgrading in the world. Therefore, studying the strategic conception and development paths of new network technology innovation becomes an urgent need for China. In this article, we analyze the challenges faced by the current network technology, discuss the development status of new network fields in China and abroad, and summarize the development trend of new network technologies. Subsequently, we summarize the gaps and development goals of China in the new network field. Finally we propose the key technologies for the new network development in China, including new network architecture, network full-dimension definable technology, polymorphic addressing and routing technology, network intelligence technology, and endogenous security structure. From the aspect of technology roadmap, we suggest that an open, integrated, and secure new architecture should be established to build a new network environment that is intelligent, diversified, personalized, robust, and efficient. From the aspect of national policy, we suggest that support policies should be formulated regarding technology research and development, industrial ecology construction, and market access.

Abstract:With the popularization of an assortment of mobile applications, it can be predicted that future wireless communication systems have to satisfy increasingly demanding service requirements, rendering the development challenges to wireless communication technologies. On the other hand, applications of big data have gained dramatic successes in numerous areas. It becomes the focus in both academia and industry how big data can enable wireless communications. In the past five years, supported by the key program group of National Nature Science Foundation of China, we devoted to investigating the big data-based wireless communication technologies and exploring the new theories and new methods of applying big data to break the development bottlenecks of wireless communications.We define wireless big data (WBD) as the big data that are generated in wireless communications and meanwhile can assist wireless communications.This paper summarizes our research and practices. Specifically, we first analyze the sources and the characteristics of WBD, and then correspondingly propose the paradigm of wireless knowledge learning, the framework for smart wireless networks, and a cross-region, cross-institution, multi-role, and unified platform for WBD. Finally, the big data-based wireless environment analysis, wireless transmission and access technologies are developed and examined. This paper aims to provide the fundamental theories and application paradigms for the further development of big data-based wireless communication technologies.
A Hybrid DMB-T and WLAN Network for Broadband Wireless Access Services

Abstract:As the demand for broadband wireless access services grows rapidly, much attention has been paid to integrated communication and broadcast networks (ICBN). ICBN can provide high-rate, on-demand, reliable data and multimedia services while in fast moving. In this paper, we introduce an ICBN system in which DMB-T broadcast network works as the forward link and wireless access networks are used for the return channel respectively. We first differentiate four types of services, including digital TV, video on demand, data download and Internet access. Then the system features are given. Next, we design the system architecture and the three subsystems, including the DMB-T broadcast network, the return channel and the terminal. With the introduction of subnetwork data unit (SNDU), the protocol to transmit data on DMB-T broadcast network is presented. We also stack the functions of the system into different layers in terms of four types of services, and introduce each of them, including signaling messages exchange and ARQ scheme, etc. Then the testbed is briefly introduced. Finally we draw the conclusion.
