Online Full-Speed Region Control Method of IPMSM Drives Considering Cross-Saturation Inductances and Stator Resistance

Abstract:For interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) drives, the accurate solution for the optimal current set point under full-speed region is an essential issue to ensure its efficient and reliable operation. However, the influence of motor parameters, including magnet saturation and stator resistance on modeling, makes it a challenge to ensure its solution accuracy. This article proposes a complete set of online full-speed region control methods considering the cross-saturation inductances and stator resistance. First, an effective logic sequence is proposed to identify the specific operating cases. Second, control under different cases is modeled as constrained optimization criteria considering the stator resistance term. Then, Newton's method is utilized to obtain the current set points for different cases, which is integrated with interpolating maps to update the inductance data online with a low computation burden. Compared with the approximate fitting method, the proposed method is capable of obtaining accurate solutions with less computation burden, which only occupies 42.4-mu s execution time. Finally, both simulation and experimental results on a 9.1-kW IPMSM validate the performance of the proposed control method in the full-speed region.
