Abstract:A novel scheme to generate coherent 112 optical sub-carriers with subcarrier spacing of 25GHz is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. By using these coherent optical subcarriers, we have successfully generated 10-Tbit/s (112x100Gbit/s) single channel optical OFDM polarization multiplexing QPSK signal with the bandwidth of 2.8THz and the optical signal noise ratio greater than 20dB (0.1nm bandwidth for each subchannel). Abstract:A novel scheme to generate coherent 21 optical subcarriers with fixed frequency of 25 GHz is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. Using these optical subcarriers, we have successfully generated 1.96 Tb/s (21 × 100 Gb/s) polarization-multiplexing optical orthogonal frequency multiplexed (PM-OFDM) polarization multiplexed quadrature phase-shift keying (QPSK) optical superchannel signal with optical signal-noise ratio of each subchannel larger than 30 dB (0.1-nm bandwidth). We have transmitted this 1.96-Tb/s optical OFDM superchannel over 3200-km SMF-28 with amplification span of 80 km with erbium-doped fiber amplifier-only.

Abstract:A novel optical packet switching scheme,in which an optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OOFDM) signal is generated as a label,is proposed and experimentally demonstrated.The 10 Gb/s OOK optical payload and the 2.5 Gb/s OFDM optical label are produced by intensity modulation of two continuous waves with different wavelength,respectively.In the experiment,the eye diagrams of the payload,constellation diagrams of the label and the BER curves of the label and payload are obtained,when the optical packets were transmitted on optical fiber or not.It is experimentally demonstrated that the power penalties for the payload and the label after 10 km fiber transmission are 1 dB and 0.5 dB, respectively.The scheme is easy to implement,so it can be used in an optical label switched network.

Abstract:Wavelength conversion for an optical packet with an optically multiplexed 40-Gbit/s payload and a 2.5-Gbit/s label has been demonstrated for the first time to our knowledge in an optical-label-switched network. The power penalties caused by wavelength conversion for the 40-Gbit/s payload and the 2.5-Gbit/s label are 1.1 and 2.3 dB, respectively. We have also demonstrated that the optical packet is successfully transmitted over two hops with a record transmission distance of 200 km.

Abstract:Simultaneous wavelength conversion based on four-wave mixing (FWM) for 10-Gb/s NRZ payload and 2.5-Gb/s OFDM label signals in optical switching network is experimentally demonstrated. The dual-pump scheme based on FWM in semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) is employed and simultaneous wavelength conversion for optical packet with one optical payload of 10-Gb/s non-return-to-zero (NRZ) on-off keying (OOK) signals and one optical label of 2.5-Gb/s OFDM signals are realized. The bit-error-rate performance is evaluated for both payload and label after wavelength conversion.

Abstract:We have demonstrated for the first time in our knowledge optical label-based wavelength switching and packet drop over actual field fiber. We have shown SCM-formatted optical labeling transmission with less than 2 dB power penalty for both label and payload over 476 km of fiber. The optical label switching achieves packet drop and re-transmission of the remaining packet.

Abstract:An all-optical sampling OFDM scheme using PolMux-DQPSK format with single source is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. 5 × 200 Gb/s AOS-OFDM signal with spectral efficiency of 3.07 bit/s/Hz is successfully transmitted over an 80 km SMF link with real-time detection by optical Fourier transform filters. Furthermore, this scheme can coexist with traditional WDM channels and be a promising technique for seamless upgrade of transmission date rate.

Abstract:We experimentally show the first demonstration of optically labeled 100-Gb/s packet polarization-multiplexing signals passing through four optical wavelength-selective switching (OWSS) nodes. In this architecture, the payload is generated by polarization-multiplexing return-to-zero octaphase-shift-keying format at 114 Gb/s, and 2.5-Gb/s on-off keying signal is used for the carrying label. By using the vestigial sideband filtering, the spectra efficiency is increased up to 1 b/Hz/s. The bit-error-rate performance for both payload and label are evaluated after passing through four straight-line OWSS nodes in this optical network.

Abstract:An experimental demonstration of an all-optical sampling orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (AOS-OFDM) transmission system with inline chromatic dispersion (CD) compensation is carried out to test the nonlinear influence. With five subcarriers non-return-to-zero (NRZ) modulated, the total bit rate is 50 Gb/s without polarization multiplexing. The receiver end is highly simplified with direct detection using optical Fourier transform filter. After transmission in 160-km standard single-mode fiber (SSMF) link with 130-ps/nm residual CD, an optimum input optical power for the system performance is achieved.
