Abstract:Chemical investigation of the fruits of Viburnum dilatatum THUNB. resulted in the isolation and characterization of four new phenolic glycosides, jiamiziosides A-D (1-4), together with five known compounds. Their structures were established by spectroscopic means and by comparison with the literature values. The antioxidant activities of the new isolates were determined against 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (=2,2-diphenyl-1-(2,4,6-trinitrophenyl)hydrazinyl; DPPH) and superoxide radicals. Among the compounds tested, jiamizioside C (3) possesses the most potent inhibitory scavenging effect on DPPH and superoxide radicals with IC50 values of 16.8 and 17.8 mu m, respectively.

Abstract:A new indole alkaloidal glucoside together with three known compounds aurantiamide acetate (2), eleutheroside E (3) and 1-O-caffeoyl-β-D-glucopyranoside (4) has been isolated from ethanol extract of the aerial parts of Clematis terniflora DC. On the basis of their spectroscopic and chemical evidence, the new compound was elucidated as (6-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-1H-indol-3-yl) carboxylic acid methyl ester (1). Compounds 1 and 3 showed significant cytotoxicity against human ECA-109.

Abstract:Five compounds, huyouyisu (1), vomifoliol (2), isoferulic acid (3), 1,2,3-trihydroxy-phenol (4) and p-hydroxy-phenol (5), were isolated from the peels of Citrus changshan-huyou Y.B.Chang for the first time by utilizing repeated column chromatography on silica gel. Among them, huyouyisu (1) is a new compound. The structure was elucidated by using 1D and 2D spectra.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To study the chemical constituents of the peels collected from Citrus changshan-huyou Y. B. Chang, and further screen the bioactive components as the lead structures.METHODS:These compounds were isolated by repeated flash column chromatography on silica gel and Sephadex LH-20. The structures of isolated compounds were elucidated by using IR, EIMS, and NMR analyses.RESULTS:One novel compound along with nine known compounds were obtained and identified as huyoujiasu(I), 3-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzoic acid(II), 3, 4-dihydroxybenzoic acid(III), fatty acid(IV), glyceride(V), 6, 7-dimethoxycoumarin(VI), 6', 7'-dihydroxybergamottin(VII), daucossterol A(VIII), daucossterol B(IX) and huyou-triterpenoid(X).CONCLUSION:One new compound, Huyoujiasu, was obtained from these peels by repeated column chromatography, and the other known compounds were isolated from this fruit for the first time as well.

Abstract:Viburnum cylindricum has been used in folk medicine in Yunnan.Two new phenolic glycosides,1-phloroglucinyl-(6-methybutyryl)-β-D-glucopyranoside named cylindrin A (1),and 1-[4-3-hydroxyl-propyl)]-pyrocatechol-(6-methybutyryl)-β-D-glucopyranoside named cylindrin B (2),along with seven known phenolic glycosides tachioside(3),syingic acid-4-β-D-glucopyran oside(4),1-β-D-glucopyranosyloxy-3-methoxy-5-hydroxybenzene(5),4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenol-1-O-β-D-glucoside(6),4-hydroxy-2,6-dimethoxyphenol-1-O-β-D-glucoside(7),phlorogluc inol-1-O-β-D-glucoside(8),1-β-D-glucosyloxy-2-(3-methoxy-4-hydroxyphenyl) propane-1,3-diol(9) have been isolated from the EtOAc extracts of its aerial parts.Their structures were elucidated by means of spectroscopic method.Compounds 3-9 were isolated from this plant for the first time.

Abstract:A new monoterpene glycoside, vervenone-10-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1''→6′)-β-D-glucopyranoside (1), along with ten known ones, vervenone-10-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (2), paeoniflorin (3), benzoylpaeoniflorin (4), alibiflorin (5), benzoylalbiflorin (6), 4-O-galloylalbiflorin (7), 6′-O-galloylalbiflorin (8), galloylpaeoniflorin (9), oxypaeoniflorin (10) and lactiflorin (11) were isolated from the roots of Paeonia lactiflora Pall. The chemical structure of compound 1 was determined by extensive analysis of its NMR (1D and 2D) and HR-ESI-MS spectroscopic data. The chemotaxonomic significance of the isolated compounds was discussed.

Abstract:Viburnum species are a group of small trees or shrubs that are of great ornamental and medicinal values. Some of them have been used for a long time both as conventional and ethnic medicine. Viburnum fruits, eaten in fresh and processed forms, have been revealed to contain various health-promoting nutrients. With the increasing research on Viburnum plants, they are considered to be an abundant resource of bioactive natural products possessing diverse pharmacological properties and unique chemical structures, that is powerfully proved by the existence of structurally novel vibsane-type diterpenoids which only occur in Viburnum species, newly discovered lignan constituents with unusual side chains and other noteworthy natural components. This review describes 185 new and 228 known secondary metabolites from Viburnum genus between 2008 and 2020, including their chemical structures, sources and bioactivities, and highlights the corresponding structure-activity relationships.

Abstract:The phytochemical investigation of Viburnum chinshanense leaves led to the isolation and identification of four new phenolic glycosides, viburninsides A−D (1−4), and eight known analogues (5−12). The structures of the four undescribed compounds were determined by spectroscopic techniques, including 1D NMR, 2D NMR, and HRESIMS, and their containing sugar units were confirmed by acid hydrolysis and HPLC analysis of the monosaccharide's chiral derivatives. Additionally, the α‐amylase and α‐glucosidase inhibitory activities of the isolated compounds were assessed. Compounds 1, 2, 4, 9, and 10 exhibited potential inhibitory activities against α‐amylase and α‐glucosidase with IC50 values ranging from 35.07 μM to 47.42 μM and 18.27 μM to 43.65 μM, respectively. Molecular docking analysis of compound 4 with the strongest inhibition against the target enzymes was also conducted.

Abstract:Seven new vibsane-type diterpenes, vibsanols C–H (1–6) and vibsanin X (7), together with seven analogues, were isolated from the leaves and twigs of Viburnum odoratissimum. The structures of the new compounds were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic methods. All the new compounds were detected for their cytotoxicity. Compound 1 showed significant cytotoxicity against all the tested cell lines (HL-60, SMMC-7721, A-594, MCF-7, and SW-480), with IC50 values of 3.35, 4.41, 5.18, 11.30, and 3.70μM, respectively. Compounds 4 and 5 also displayed significant cytotoxicity against hepatocellular carcinoma SMMC-7721 cell line, with IC50 values of 3.69 and 3.52μM, respectively.

Abstract:A new phenolic digycoside 1 was produced as stress metabolite in the fresh leaves of Viburnum ichangense (HEMSL.) REHD., in response to abiotic stress elicitation by CuCl2. The stress metabolite was characterized as 1-O-[alpha-L-arabinofuranosyl(1 -> 6)-beta-D-glucopyranosyl]-erythro-1,2-bis(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)propane-1,3-diol (1). A new flavan dimer, 2,3-epoxyflavan-3',4',5,7-tetraol-(4 -> 8 '')-flavan-3 '',3''',4''',5''',6 ''-pentaol (2), and two known compounds, hovetrichoside A (3) and asperglaucide (4), were also isolated. Their structures were established by spectroscopic means.

The structures of the new compounds were established on the basis of chemical and spectroscopic evidences.

Abstract:Objective: To investigate the chemical constituents of Jasminum elongatum. Methods: The chemical constituents were isolated and purified by various column chromatographic methods and preparative HPLC. Their structures were identified by physicochemical properties and spectral analysis. Results: Nine compounds were isolated from the methanol extract of Jasminum elongatum and identified as protocatechuic acid( 1),caffeic acid( 2),salicylic acid( 3),isovanillic acid( 4),ferulic acid( 5),methyl caffeate( 6),caffein( 7),3,6-diisopropylpiperazin-2,5-dione( 8),scopoletin( 9). Conclusion: All the compounds are isolated from the this plants for the first time.

Abstract:This paper reports the isolation of two undescribed phenolic glycosides ( 1 and 2 ), together with seven known compounds ( 3 – 9 ) from the branches of Viburnum chinshanense . The structures of undescribed compounds were elucidated by comprehensive spectroscopic methods (1D NMR, 2D NMR, and HRESIMS). The sugar units of compounds 1 and 2 were identified by acid hydrolysis and HPLC analysis of the chiral derivatives of the monosaccharides. Furthermore, the α ‐amylase and α -glucosidase inhibitory activities of all isolates were evaluated and compounds 1 , 5 , and 8 displayed potential α ‐amylase and α -glucosidase inhibitory activities. The molecular docking analyses of compounds 1 and 8 with the potent inhibition towards the target enzymes were also performed.
